To find the best PC part offer, compare the exact same product and condition, then calculate what you will actually pay after shipping, taxes, and eligible discounts. Check seller and stock, review price history, and verify the offer again at checkout. A lower sticker price is not necessarily the better deal—or even an equivalent part.

How do I compare PC part prices?

  1. Identify the exact product. Search by the manufacturer part number or full model number, then confirm the specifications, capacity, revision, and included accessories or bundle contents. A graphics-card family name or CPU series is not enough: different versions can have different specifications or contents. Newegg’s price-match terms require the same brand and model number; its Knowledge Base policy specifies the same model number, item number, and specifications. Newegg Price Match Guarantee and Newegg’s Price Match Knowledge Base article set out those requirements.
  2. Check who is selling it and its condition. Distinguish retailer-sold inventory from marketplace offers, and confirm whether the part is new, open-box, or refurbished. Check that it is in stock; a listing that cannot ship when you need it is not directly comparable to an available offer. Newegg’s Knowledge Base price-match policy excludes third-party marketplace sellers and open-box or refurbished offers. Comparison services may also display seller, stock, and offer details.
  3. Calculate your delivered cost. Compare the checkout cost for your location, including shipping and applicable taxes or fees. Count a coupon, rebate, or membership discount only if you can use it and the offer applies to that exact item. A retailer’s price-match calculation may not use the same total as your checkout: Newegg’s general guarantee defines its comparison price as the advertised item price plus shipping, excludes sales tax, and omits some loyalty or membership discounts. Newegg’s agreement says the order total includes shipping and handling shown on its invoice. See the guarantee terms and Newegg’s terms and conditions.
  4. Check recent price history. A sale badge or crossed-out price alone does not show whether an offer is unusually low. Amazon says eligible product pages show the previous 365 days of price history. Newegg says its strikethrough can represent MSRP or a historical median and cautions that MSRP may not reflect the prevailing market price. Use the history for context, not as a guarantee that the price will rise or fall.
  5. Confirm the offer at checkout. Recheck the exact model, seller, condition, stock, shipping, discounts, final total, and return terms before placing an order. Prices and availability can change without notice, as Newegg’s terms and conditions state.

How can I check whether a sale price is genuinely good?

Use Amazon’s product-page history

On eligible Amazon product pages, Amazon says shoppers can open the price-history link beside the price to view the prior 365 days. Its guidance also describes using Alexa for Shopping in the Amazon app or desktop experience. The history is useful for seeing how the listed price has moved; it does not establish that another retailer’s offer is equivalent or that a future price will be lower. See Amazon’s price-history guidance.

Use Keepa for Amazon tracking

Keepa describes Amazon price-history charts and price-drop alerts. Its stated scope is Amazon products, so use it to follow Amazon listings rather than as a complete comparison across Newegg, Best Buy, Walmart, or other retailers. Keepa says it tracks over 7 billion Amazon products; that scale is the service’s own claim, not an independently verified count. Details are on Keepa’s site.

Use a multi-retailer comparison tool as a starting point

BuildCores describes comparing PC component offers across retailers, with product pages that can show price, stock, shipping, and promotions. Its examples include Amazon, Newegg, Best Buy, Walmart, and regional retailers. ComponentWatch describes tracking components across Newegg, Amazon, Best Buy, and eBay, with updates every 30 minutes; that coverage and cadence are its own service claims and may change. Check each listing at the retailer before buying. See BuildCores and ComponentWatch.

Tools can make discovery faster, but compare what each one actually covers. Look for exact model identity, condition, seller, stock, shipping and tax treatment, discount eligibility, history window, retailer coverage, and how frequently listings update. Do not assume that the first low price in a comparison view is a matching, available offer.

Will Newegg match an Amazon price?

Do not assume it will. Newegg’s general Price Match Guarantee page describes matching an identical advertised item at Newegg or listed major retailers, including Amazon, for qualifying products marked with the guarantee badge. That page gives a 14-calendar-day claim period and says an issued Newegg Customer Care card is valid for 90 days. Its general guarantee terms also list exclusions.

Newegg’s Knowledge Base policy, updated July 21, 2026, describes a different scope: a price drop on Newegg within seven calendar days, for eligible items sold and shipped by Newegg. It explicitly excludes external competitor prices and says an issued card is valid for 365 days. See Newegg’s Knowledge Base Price Match policy.

Because those pages describe different terms, check the current policy that applies to the exact item and offer before relying on a match. Eligibility can depend on the product, seller, and policy in effect when you buy; a competitor’s lower price is not a promise of a Newegg credit.

Why can two listings with similar names have different prices?

  • Different model or revision: A shared product-family name does not establish identical specifications, capacity, cooling design, or revision. Compare the manufacturer’s part number and listing details.
  • Different bundle: One offer may include extra accessories, software, or a multipack that another does not. Compare what is in the box.
  • Different seller or condition: A marketplace seller, open-box part, or refurbished item is not the same offer as a new product sold by the retailer.
  • Different availability or delivery cost: Stock status, shipping, and location-based taxes or fees affect the amount and timing of the purchase.
  • Different discount rules: A coupon or membership price may be conditional, limited, or unavailable to you. Count it only if it applies at checkout.
  • Misleading reference price: A crossed-out price may not represent a recent price that shoppers commonly paid. Newegg says its strike-through pricing can be based on MSRP or a historical median and notes: “This price may not necessarily reflect the prevailing market price for a product.” See its Strike-through pricing explanation.
