For ordinary display dust, use a clean, very soft brush and gentle strokes; avoid pressing on small parts. If the model needs more than dusting, disassemble it and hand-clean the bricks. LEGO’s official instructions specify water no hotter than 104°F (40°C), a soft cloth or sponge, and mild detergent if needed—never put pieces in a dishwasher or washing machine.
Dust the assembled set gently
The LEGO PlayStation is a detailed display build: PlayStation describes it as a 1,911-piece, near 1:1-scale original console measuring 10.5 inches (26 cm) wide when assembled. Its small details and projecting sections call for light handling while you dust. PlayStation’s announcement gives the set’s specifications.
- Place the model on a stable surface. If you need to move it, support the build rather than lifting it by a small or projecting part.
- Use a clean, very soft brush to lift loose dust from broad, exposed surfaces with light strokes.
- Gently work around recesses and details, supporting delicate sections with your other hand. Do not push hard enough to shift pieces.
- If a surface needs wiping, use a soft cloth that is only lightly moistened. Do not spray cleaner or water onto the assembled model.
The soft-brush suggestion is practical display-care guidance, not a product-specific instruction from LEGO. The cited display-cleaning advice is from Brick Rated; it does not report a controlled test of this PlayStation set.
For stubborn dirt, disassemble before washing
LEGO’s general cleaning instructions concern hand-cleaning pieces, not soaking a completed display model. A cautious way to apply them is to take the model apart and clean the bricks by hand, rather than wetting or soaking the assembled build. LEGO’s cleaning guidance recommends water no hotter than 104°F (40°C) and a soft cloth or sponge. Mild detergent is optional; rinse the pieces well with clear water afterward.

- Disassemble the model carefully so the pieces can be cleaned individually.
- Wash by hand using water at or below 104°F (40°C) and a soft cloth or sponge. Add mild detergent only if needed.
- Rinse each piece well with clear water.
- Let the pieces dry out of direct sunlight before rebuilding.
Methods and equipment to avoid
- Dishwasher or washing machine: LEGO says not to clean pieces in either appliance.
- Oven, microwave, or hair dryer: LEGO warns against these drying methods; heat can change the shape of bricks.
- Direct sunlight while drying: LEGO’s instructions say to keep pieces out of direct sunlight as they dry.
- Hard pressure or rough tools: For routine dusting, use light brush strokes so small parts are less likely to shift.
- Spraying or soaking the assembled set: LEGO’s general instructions cover hand-cleaning pieces, not washing the completed PlayStation display build.
