Dust the assembled model with minimal contact
PlayStation’s US product listing identifies the set as model 72036, with 1,911 pieces, removable display dioramas, and a console more than 10.5 inches wide. Its many details make a gentle, controlled approach sensible.
- Stabilize it. Place the model on a level surface and handle it by its sturdy base or broad structural sections rather than small decorative elements.
- Brush from top to bottom. Use a clean, soft-bristled brush and light strokes over studs, seams, and detailed areas so loosened dust falls onto surfaces you have not cleaned yet.
- Take care around small parts. Do not force bristles into gaps or brush in a way that could snag an element. If a piece is loose, support it with a finger while brushing nearby, or leave that area until it can be handled securely.
- Wipe broad, accessible surfaces only if needed. A soft cloth can be used gently on smooth areas. Keep the model stable and avoid rubbing small details.
LEGO’s official cleaning page recommends a soft cloth or sponge for hand-cleaning LEGO pieces; it does not specifically recommend brushing dust from this assembled display. For grime, clean pieces by hand rather than washing the intact display
Dusting and washing are different jobs. LEGO’s published instructions describe cleaning pieces by hand, and its Education guidance notes that joined elements will not be effectively cleaned. If grime calls for washing, disassemble the model so you can clean the pieces individually instead of exposing the assembled display to water.

- Use cool-to-lukewarm water. LEGO says the water should be no hotter than 104°F / 40°C.
- Clean gently. Use a soft cloth or sponge. LEGO says mild detergent may be added; rinse pieces well with clear water afterward.
- Air-dry safely. Let pieces dry away from direct sunlight. Do not use an oven, microwave, or hair dryer; high heat can change brick shape.
- Reassemble when dry. Make sure pieces are dry before putting the display back together.
LEGO’s stated recommendation is: “We recommend that you clean your LEGO pieces by hand using water no hotter than 104°F / 40°C and a soft cloth or sponge.” The instructions appear on The LEGO Group’s official cleaning page.
Protect sensitive parts from liquid and heat
For electronic components or other sensitive pieces containing metal, LEGO advises wiping with a cloth moistened with water and mild detergent without perfume or oil. Do not submerge these pieces or spray them directly.
