To claim a League of Legends Twitch Drop, link your Riot Account to Twitch, open Twitch’s active Drops & Rewards campaign, watch an eligible channel live for the campaign’s required time, and press Claim when progress reaches 100%. The reward is delivered to the linked League account after claiming. Campaign rules control which channels qualify, whether VODs count, the watch-time threshold, regions, and the claim deadline.
What you need before watching
Prepare the account and browser setup before starting the stream. Drops are tied to the Twitch account that watches and the Riot Account connected to it; watching on an unlinked Twitch account will not reliably deliver an in-game reward.
- A Twitch account that can access Drops & Rewards.
- A Riot Account with League of Legends access.
- The Riot and Twitch accounts linked through Twitch’s Settings → Connections page.
- A browser or Twitch app with ad-blocking extensions disabled if watch progress does not move.
- A live League stream that is listed in the campaign’s participating-channel list and displays the Drops Enabled callout.
No headset, webcam, capture card, paid subscription, or League merchandise is required to claim a Drop. Those items may improve a viewing setup, but they are not eligibility requirements.

- Sign in to Twitch.
- Open your profile menu and choose Settings.
- Open the Connections tab.
- Scroll to Riot Games and select Connect.
- Sign in to the Riot Account that you use for League of Legends.
- Review the authorization request and approve the connection.
Riot identifies this Connections flow as the account-linking route. Check the connected account’s identity carefully if you have more than one Riot login. Linking the wrong Riot Account can send the reward to a different League account, and changing accounts after watching may not move already-earned progress or a claimed item.

Riot’s January 8, 2026 Season Start: For Demacia! emote announcement explicitly told viewers to ensure that their Riot Account was linked to Twitch in order to receive the emote. Linking before you watch avoids the most common delivery failure.
Find a League campaign with Drops enabled
- Open Twitch’s Drops & Rewards area.
- Look for an active League of Legends campaign rather than relying on a streamer’s title alone.
- Open the campaign details and read its watch-time, channel, region, VOD, and claim rules.
- Choose a channel listed as participating in that campaign.
- Confirm that the channel shows the Drops Enabled callout at the top of chat.
Riot says eligible channels appear in the campaign’s participating-channel list and display a Drops callout above chat. A stream can be about League without being eligible, so the game category and a streamer’s verbal promise are not enough by themselves.
Eligibility is campaign-specific. Some promotions are tied to a particular League Partner Program (LPP) group, event, or broadcast window. The January 2026 example allowed viewing of any eligible LPP streamer’s livestream during the campaign, but another promotion can name a narrower channel set or a different program.

- Eligible channels: Is the streamer listed by Twitch for this campaign?
- Live requirement: Must the video be live, or do recorded broadcasts count?
- Watch threshold: How many minutes or hours are required?
- Channel continuity: Must the time be completed in one channel?
- Region: Is the promotion available in your country or territory?
- Reward: Is the item an emote, skin-related item, icon, capsule, or another game reward?
- Claim deadline: How long after the campaign ends does the Claim button remain available?
- Subscription or gift rules: Does the campaign mention subscriptions, gifted subscriptions, or other actions, or is watch time the only requirement?
The January 2026 Riot campaign was not region-locked, but it was available only in places where Twitch Drops were supported. That distinction matters: a campaign can be globally announced while still being unavailable in a location where the Twitch Drops system does not operate.
Watch the eligible stream and earn progress
Use a qualifying live channel
Open the participating channel from the campaign page and leave the live broadcast playing while signed in to the linked Twitch account. Keep the stream in a normal viewing session; a campaign’s rules can treat background, muted, or otherwise restricted playback differently, so follow the wording shown for that promotion.
Understand the one-channel limit
Riot states that only one participating channel can accrue progress at a time for the campaign. Opening several eligible League streams does not multiply watch time. If you switch channels, progress can follow the channel that Twitch currently recognizes as active, while time spent on another open stream may not count. Twitch’s campaign rules can also limit simultaneous progress across campaigns.
Example: the January 2026 Lightshield Stonks emote
In Riot Games’ January 8, 2026 example, viewers had to “reach one full hour in totality in a single channel” to earn the Lightshield Stonks emote. The article described the requirement as watching one hour of any eligible LPP streamer’s livestream during the campaign window. This is an example, not a universal League rule: a future campaign may require a different duration or channel program.

Monitor progress in Drops Inventory
Open Twitch’s Drops Inventory to see the campaign card and its progress percentage. The inventory is the authoritative place to check whether minutes have been credited, whether the reward has reached 100%, and whether a Claim button is available. A streamer’s chat message or overlay cannot substitute for the inventory status.
Claim the reward at 100 percent
- Wait until the campaign card in Drops Inventory reaches 100%.
- Select Claim in the inventory, or use the claim notification Twitch displays when the reward is earned.
- Keep the Riot Account connection intact while the claim is processed.
- Launch League of Legends after claiming and allow time for the item to appear.
Reaching 100% is not always the same as completing the claim. Twitch’s notification or the inventory’s Claim control records the redemption, while the linked Riot account enables delivery into League. Claim as soon as the button appears rather than waiting for the campaign to end.
Claim deadlines and inventory retention
Every promotion sets its own post-campaign window. In Riot’s January 2026 event, the reward could be claimed for seven days (168 hours) after the campaign ended. If the campaign ends on a Monday at 18:00 UTC, that example window would close the following Monday at 18:00 UTC; the actual event’s published end time controls the calculation.

Do VODs and replays count?
Do not assume that an archived broadcast earns credit. Riot’s cited January 2026 campaign required a livestream and did not count VOD viewing. Other campaigns can define their rules differently, so inspect the active campaign details before relying on a replay.
If a campaign says “live” or names a livestream requirement, watch while the channel is broadcasting. A recording may show the Drops Enabled label or contain the same event, yet still produce no progress because the campaign’s eligibility check is tied to live viewing.
What happens after you claim?
Once Twitch records the claim, open the League client on the Riot Account connected under Twitch Settings → Connections. Delivery is handled through the game account rather than by downloading a file from Twitch. Riot and Twitch guidance both identify account linking as necessary for in-game delivery.

Allow a reasonable synchronization period after launching the client. If the item is still absent, do not watch the campaign again immediately; first verify the account connection and the claim record, then use the game publisher’s support route if the connected account is correct.

Troubleshooting Twitch Drops that are not progressing
No progress appears after watching
- Confirm the channel is listed in the active campaign’s participating channels.
- Look for the Drops Enabled callout at the top of chat.
- Check that you are signed in to the Twitch account shown in Drops Inventory.
- Disable ad-blocking extensions. Riot says ad blockers can prevent watch-time progress from accruing.
- Close extra participating streams and continue on one eligible channel.
- Refresh Drops Inventory after remaining on the live stream for a while; the display may not update instantly.
Progress stopped after opening several streams
Riot’s rule is one participating channel at a time for the campaign. Close or pause the other eligible streams, choose one listed channel, and keep watching there. If you are also watching another game’s campaign, Twitch’s rules may restrict simultaneous campaign progress, so check the other campaign cards as well.
A VOD or replay produced no credit
The January 2026 Riot event excluded VOD viewing. Verify the current campaign’s wording; if it specifies a live stream, switch to an eligible broadcast and begin counting from the live session rather than expecting replay minutes to be added retroactively.
The reward is claimed but missing in League
- Open Twitch Settings → Connections.
- Check which Riot Account is connected.
- Compare that account with the one used to sign in to the League client.
- Open Drops Inventory and confirm that the reward shows as claimed, not merely at 100% progress.
- Restart or sign back in to the League client after confirming the connection.
- If the accounts match and the item remains missing, contact the game publisher through its support process and provide the campaign name, reward, Twitch account, Riot Account, and claim time.
Twitch’s help guidance directs players to verify the connected game account and then follow the publisher’s support route when an in-game reward does not arrive.

The claim button disappeared
Check whether the campaign ended and whether its event-specific claim window expired. The cited Riot event allowed seven days after the end; Twitch’s general inventory guidance mentions six-month retention, but the shorter campaign deadline can remove the claim option first. Expired claims generally cannot be restored by continuing to watch.
