If you pre-ordered Gears of War: E-Day through a qualifying Xbox promotion, the reported reward is a $5 USD Microsoft Store prepaid card. On your Xbox console, open the Microsoft Store app, go to your profile, choose Offers & Credits, and redeem the game offer shown under Active.
Offer visibility is being rolled out by country and account, so not every buyer will see it. The Standard Edition and full Premium Edition were reported as eligible; the separate Premium Upgrade was reported as excluded. The conditions below explain how to check your account without assuming that every purchase qualifies.

What the Gears of War: E-Day offer provides
The promotion is a Microsoft Store credit offer connected to an eligible Gears of War: E-Day pre-order. Pure Xbox reported that qualifying accounts received a $5 USD Microsoft Store prepaid card. The credit can be spent on purchases in the Xbox store, and the reported balance-availability date is January 11, 2027.
This is an account offer, not an automatic cash refund. You must sign in with the Microsoft account used for the qualifying pre-order and redeem the offer from the Microsoft Store interface. If the offer is not present, Microsoft has not publicly confirmed that the reward is universal in every country or for every sales channel.

The promotion was advertised alongside the game’s other pre-order benefits. Xbox Wire’s pre-order copy stated: “Emergence Begins Pre-order Gears of War: E-Day, get an XBOX gift card and unlock the Exfil Dom Character Skin and the Exfil Weapon Skin Set in-game at launch.”
Check eligibility before you troubleshoot
Confirm the pre-order deadline
The official Xbox Game Studios Shop terms say the pre-order offer applied to qualifying orders made before October 6, 2026, at 7:59 a.m. Pacific Time, at participating retailers while supplies lasted. The terms also set a limit of one offer per person or account. A purchase made after that cutoff should not be treated as eligible merely because it is the same game.
Use the account that placed the order
The offer is attached to the Microsoft account or Xbox account associated with the qualifying transaction. Signing in with a different gamertag can make an otherwise eligible purchase appear to be missing. Family members’ accounts and accounts that only share a console do not automatically share the offer.
Check the edition name carefully
“Premium Edition” and “Premium Upgrade” are different products. The current rollout reported by Pure Xbox showed the Standard Edition and the complete Premium Edition as eligible, while the Premium Upgrade appeared excluded. That report describes observed availability, not a universal Microsoft guarantee, so the account’s own offer panel remains the decisive check.
Establish where the purchase was made
The reported reward is tied to an Xbox pre-order promotion. Purchases made through the Xbox console or Xbox PC storefront are the most relevant accounts to check. A Steam purchase should not be assumed to create an Xbox Microsoft Store offer, even though the game is available on Steam. Retailer participation and country restrictions can also affect eligibility.

How to claim the gift card on Xbox
Use the Microsoft Store app on an Xbox console. The labels below follow the interface path reported during the current rollout.
- Turn on the Xbox console and sign in to the gamertag that placed the qualifying Gears of War: E-Day pre-order.
- Open the Microsoft Store app from the console.
- Open the Store’s left-hand navigation menu.
- Select your gamertag, then choose Profile.
- Open Offers & Credits.
- In the Active section, find the Gears of War: E-Day pre-order offer and select it.
- Choose the redeem or claim control shown on the offer page and follow the confirmation prompts.
- After redemption, check your Microsoft account or Store balance before attempting to spend the credit. Keep the confirmation screen or message until the balance is visible.
If the offer is listed as active but the redeem control is unavailable, close and reopen the Microsoft Store app, make sure the console is online, and sign in again. Do not claim the offer from a different account just because that account is currently active on the console.

The table separates what has been reported from what still needs checking on your account. A retailer receipt, edition name, or platform label by itself does not replace the Active-offer check.
What to do when no Active offer appears
1. Recheck the account
Sign out of the Microsoft Store and sign back in with the account that actually placed the pre-order. If you use multiple Xbox profiles, compare the order history and gamertag before changing anything. The one-offer-per-account rule also means that a reward claimed by another person cannot normally be claimed again on your account.
2. Confirm the storefront and order type
Review the order receipt. The promotion concerns qualifying Xbox pre-orders, not every copy of the game sold on every platform. A Steam receipt, a purchase from a non-participating retailer, or an order for only the Premium Upgrade may explain why no offer is shown.

3. Allow for rollout delay
Pure Xbox reported that the offer could take time to appear and could be limited by country. If the order otherwise matches the terms, return to the Active offers area later rather than buying the game again. Re-purchasing can create duplicate charges without creating a second promotion entitlement.

4. Check physical-order fulfillment
For a physical pre-order, look for a retailer-supplied code, email, insert, or order page. The official Gears page distinguishes digital pre-orders, whose benefits are delivered automatically, from physical pre-orders, which may receive retailer-delivered codes. Follow the retailer’s code instructions first, then check the Microsoft account associated with the redemption.
5. Compare the country and currency
The reward is reported in US dollars, while offer visibility can vary by country. A non-US account may display different wording, a different value, or no offer at all. Do not assume that a US dollar amount applies unchanged to another region.
6. Escalate only after preserving evidence
Keep the order number, edition name, purchase date, retailer, account gamertag, and screenshots of the empty or active offer panel. Those details let Xbox Support distinguish an account-eligibility issue from a delayed rollout or a retailer-code problem. Avoid posting full codes or payment details publicly.
Digital, physical, Xbox PC and Steam differences
Digital Xbox purchases
The official Gears page says digital pre-orders receive the pre-order benefits automatically. For an Xbox console or Xbox PC transaction, the Microsoft account used at checkout is therefore the first account to inspect. Automatic delivery of in-game benefits does not necessarily mean the gift-card tile appears immediately; the reported rollout can still take time.

Physical purchases
A disc purchase can involve two separate fulfillment systems: the retailer supplies the game and may supply a promotional code, while Microsoft attaches a redeemed benefit to an account. Keep the physical receipt and any code until the credit is confirmed. A retailer’s participation and stock status matter because the official terms limit the offer to participating retailers while supplies last.
Xbox Play Anywhere
The official Gears page says Xbox Play Anywhere covers a single Xbox Series X|S or Xbox PC purchase. That cross-device license does not by itself prove gift-card eligibility; the promotional offer still depends on the qualifying pre-order, edition, region, and account.
Steam
Gears of War: E-Day is also available on Steam, but a Steam license is a separate storefront transaction. Nothing in the available offer terms establishes that a Steam pre-order creates a Microsoft Store prepaid-card entitlement, so Steam buyers should not expect to find the Xbox offer in their Microsoft account.

The launch dates come from Xbox Wire. The cutoff and one-per-account limit come from the official Xbox Game Studios Shop terms. The $5 amount, interface location, edition observations and January 11, 2027 balance date come from the Pure Xbox rollout report, so treat those items as reported conditions rather than a promise that applies to every geography.

Once redeemed, the reported $5 prepaid-card balance is intended for purchases in the Xbox/Microsoft Store ecosystem. It is not described as a cash withdrawal, a refund to your payment card, or a transferable code. Check the account balance and regional Store rules before buying; taxes, currency conversion and local redemption restrictions can affect what the balance covers.

Because the reported balance date is January 11, 2027, plan to spend it before that date if your account shows the same deadline. A balance that is not visible after redemption should be handled as an account or rollout issue before you attempt another claim.
Game and edition context
Gears of War: E-Day launched worldwide on October 6, 2026, following Early Access from October 1. It is available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Steam. The official Gears page lists Standard, Premium and Premium Upgrade editions, which is why reading the exact product name on your receipt matters.
The Premium Upgrade is an add-on rather than the full Premium purchase. The reported exclusion applies to that distinction; it does not state that every Premium-branded transaction is excluded. If your receipt says “Premium Edition,” compare it with the complete-edition listing before concluding that you bought only the upgrade.

Collector’s Edition and physical Xbox Series X copies
The official Xbox Game Studios Shop lists a Collector’s Edition containing a physical Xbox Series X disc. Its listing describes a 15-inch Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago diorama, a COG-tag replica, a lithograph, a SteelBook case and a Premium digital upgrade. The listing was out of stock when accessed.
That Collector’s Edition information is useful for identifying a physical product, but the listing alone does not establish gift-card eligibility. Apply the same checks: qualifying pre-order timing, participating retailer, edition, country, account and the presence of an Active offer.
