To claim an Epic Games Store giveaway, sign in to an Epic Games account with two-factor authentication enabled, open the official Free Games page while the offer is active, select the giveaway, and complete the zero-price Get or checkout confirmation. The title is then attached to your account permanently; you can install it later.
The important limitation is timing: Epic Games Player Support says a new giveaway appears every Thursday at 8 AM PT and normally remains claimable for seven days. The specific title changes, so check the live Free Games page rather than relying on an old list.
What “free” means on the Epic Games Store
Epic’s Free Games area can contain several kinds of listings. A rotating giveaway is a normally paid game temporarily offered at no charge. Claiming it during the promotion adds an entitlement to your account that remains available after the promotion ends.

Look for the giveaway’s own offer panel and its Get or claim control. Do not infer that every item marked “free” has the same ownership rules.
When the weekly giveaway is available
Epic Games Player Support states that a new free game is available every Thursday at 8 AM PT. The support guidance also says you have seven days to claim it before it rotates. The exact changeover can be affected by the storefront’s displayed schedule, so use the countdown or end time shown on the live listing when one is present.
The seven-day period is a claim window, not a requirement to download the game. You can complete the claim near the end of the promotion and install the title later. Because the title and deadline are volatile, check the official Free Games page immediately before claiming rather than using a cached article, social post, or screenshot.
What you need before claiming
An Epic Games account
The entitlement belongs to an Epic account, so create an account or sign in before opening checkout. Use the account that you intend to keep using: claiming while signed into one account does not transfer the entitlement to a different account.
Two-factor authentication
Epic requires two-factor authentication to claim a giveaway. Open your Epic account security settings, enable an available two-factor method, and complete any verification prompt. If the storefront refuses the claim, confirm that the security setting is enabled on the same account currently signed in.

A way to reach the storefront
You need an internet connection and access to the Epic Games Store page or supported app. No physical game, disc, controller, or other hardware is required for the claim itself. The offer is a digital account transaction.
How to claim the current free game
- Sign in. Open the Epic Games Store and sign in to the account you want to retain the game. If you do not have an account, create one and finish the account setup.
- Enable two-factor authentication. In the account’s security settings, turn on two-factor authentication before attempting the giveaway. Complete the challenge or code confirmation requested by Epic.
- Open the official Free Games page. Go to the storefront’s Free Games section and identify the rotating giveaway, separating it from any free-to-play titles or demos shown nearby.
- Open the giveaway listing. Select the game and check the offer panel, displayed end time, and platform information. Make sure it is the active weekly promotion, not a different free product.
- Select Get or the equivalent claim control. Start the purchase flow. The item should be presented at zero price for the active promotion.
- Complete the confirmation. Follow the zero-price checkout or confirmation screen until Epic reports that the transaction is complete. A page that only opens a product description has not necessarily recorded a claim.
- Verify the library entry. Open your Epic library and look for the game. Seeing it listed in the account library is the practical confirmation that the entitlement was added.
Keep the confirmation screen or library entry as a record if you are claiming near the deadline. The key event is the completed account claim, not the download.

Do you have to download the game immediately?
No. Epic’s support guidance says that once claimed, the game is yours permanently even if you do not download it right away. You can close the store after the successful confirmation and install when you have enough storage, a faster connection, or time to play.
Downloading during the promotion can be convenient, but it does not replace the claim step. Conversely, starting a download without completing the zero-price confirmation may leave the entitlement unclaimed. Always verify the library entry before assuming the game is secured.
Where to find the current offer
The official Epic Games Store Free Games page is the authoritative place to see the current giveaway and its deadline. It advertises a new giveaway each week, but it also places free-to-play games and demos in the same general area. Read the individual card or product page instead of treating the page heading alone as proof that every item is a limited-time claim.

The title changes weekly, so an article or list that names last week’s game cannot establish what is free today. Open the live page, check the offer’s end time, and complete the transaction from that listing.

You can reach the storefront from a PC browser or the Epic Games app where the service is available. Epic’s storefront says its free-game app is available globally on Android and in supported regions on iPhone and iPad. Regional and platform availability can change, so rely on the live official page and the app store availability shown for your location.

The platform you use to claim does not change the seven-day deadline. If an app is unavailable in your region, use an available official storefront route rather than downloading an unofficial installer.
How to confirm that a claim worked
A completed claim should produce two signs: the zero-price flow reaches a success or order-complete state, and the game appears in the account’s library. Check both when possible.
- Confirm that you were signed into the intended account, not a family member’s or a second account.
- Check that the game appears as owned or available to install in the library rather than merely appearing in a wishlist or recent-products list.
- Refresh the library or sign out and back in if the page was open while the transaction completed.
- Keep the account email and two-factor recovery method current so you can access the entitlement later.
An installation is optional. If the library entry is present, you can postpone the download without losing the claimed game.

What happens if you miss the deadline?
Epic says that an expired giveaway cannot be added for free after its claim period. The storefront does not retroactively grant the offer simply because you visited the page or downloaded a launcher.
If you missed it, watch the official Free Games page for future promotions and special offers. A later promotion may feature the same title, but there is no guarantee or stated schedule for a particular game’s return. Do not treat an old claim link, a cached checkout page, or an unofficial giveaway post as evidence that the offer is still active.

The Get button is missing
First check whether the listing is actually the rotating giveaway. A free-to-play title or demo may use a different call to action. Then check the displayed deadline; a button can disappear when the weekly rotation has ended. Finally, verify that you are signed in and that two-factor authentication is enabled on that account.
The checkout does not show zero price
Do not complete a paid purchase expecting it to become free later. Return to the Free Games page, open the active giveaway listing, and verify the offer window. If the item is no longer in the promotion, the free period may have ended or the page may be showing a different product.
Two-factor authentication blocks the claim
Complete the security setup in the account settings, then start the claim again. Make sure the verification method is attached to the account displayed in the storefront. If you changed accounts or opened a separate browser session, sign out and back in before retrying.

The transaction completed but the game is not visible
Refresh the library and confirm the account identity. Give the storefront time to update, then sign out and sign back in. Search the library for the exact title rather than relying only on a recently added sort order. If the game still does not appear, retain any confirmation details and use Epic’s account support channels.
The app or page is unavailable in your region
Epic’s mobile availability varies by platform and region. Check the official storefront information for your location and use an officially supported access route. Do not bypass regional restrictions with an unofficial download or a second account; that can create a different account record from the one you intend to keep.
Account security and long-term access
Because the game is attached to an account, protecting that account matters more than installing immediately. Keep two-factor authentication enabled, use a unique password, and avoid entering credentials into links supplied by unverified giveaway posts. Open the Epic Games Store directly when checking a weekly offer.

Record which account you used if several people share a computer or household. The permanent entitlement follows that account’s library, not the device on which you clicked Get. Reinstalling the launcher or changing computers does not create a new claim; sign in to the account that owns the game.
