If your new Windows 11 PC includes an Xbox game promotion, finish Windows setup, connect to the internet, and redeem the offer while signed in to the Microsoft account you want to own the games. After redemption, find the titles under Microsoft Store > Gaming > Library/My Library or in the Xbox app, check each title’s requirements, and select Install. The license follows the Microsoft account used for the claim, not the physical computer.
What the Windows 11 Xbox-games offer includes
A Windows Central report dated October 16, 2026 describes a planned promotion for selected Windows 11 PCs sold by participating retailers in the United States. The reported bundle contains PC versions of 25 Xbox games and has a reported total value of more than $500. Examples named in the report are The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, Minecraft Dungeons, and Gears of War: Reloaded.
The report does not establish every qualifying model, retailer, or game SKU. Treat the offer card supplied with your PC and Microsoft’s terms shown for that specific device as the controlling information. A listing, review, or sales page that mentions the promotion does not by itself prove that a particular configuration qualifies.

Because the dates and title list are promotional terms that can change, record a screenshot or copy of the offer card that came with your PC. If that card and a general announcement disagree, follow the terms attached to the device and ask the retailer or Microsoft Support to clarify before the deadline.

What you need before claiming
- An eligible Windows 11 PC covered by the promotion. The model, configuration, retailer, country, and purchase date can all affect eligibility.
- A working internet connection. Windows activation, account verification, Store licensing, and game downloads require network access.
- A Microsoft account that you intend to keep using. The games are assigned to the account used during redemption.
- Access to Microsoft Store and, when prompted, the Xbox app. Install pending Windows, Store, and Xbox updates before troubleshooting a missing offer.
- Sufficient storage and hardware for each game. A game can be included in your entitlement but still refuse installation if the PC does not meet its system requirements.
Complete Windows 11 first-run setup before attempting to redeem the bundle. If the computer is still in its out-of-box setup screens, the Store may not yet have the account, region, device identity, or activation state needed to display the offer.
Claim the games on the eligible PC

Finish Windows 11 setup and activate the computer
Complete the initial Windows setup, connect to the internet, and allow Windows to finish activation and any immediate updates. Restart if Windows requests it. Use the PC that was sold as the qualifying device; signing in on an unrelated computer will not make that computer eligible.

Choose the Microsoft account that should own the games
Open Start > Microsoft Store and sign in with the Microsoft account you want permanently associated with the entitlement. When the Xbox app asks you to sign in, use the same account unless the offer’s terms explicitly say otherwise.

Open the Store’s Gaming area
In Microsoft Store, select Gaming. Look for an included-games card, a promotion tile, or a claim/get control associated with the PC. The exact wording can vary by Windows build, Store version, language, and promotion.

Claim the included offer before installing individual games
If the card presents a Claim, Get, or equivalent control, select it while signed in to the intended account. Wait for confirmation that the digital entitlement has been added. Do not assume that downloading a game from a search result has redeemed the bundle; redemption and installation are separate actions.

Confirm the entitlement in your library
Return to Gaming > Library (shown as My Library in some Store instructions). A claimed game that is not installed should have a download icon. Microsoft Support describes the path this way: select My Library; an app or game with a Download icon has not been downloaded; select that icon to download and install it.

Install from the Store or Xbox app
Select Install or the download icon for each title you want. Some included games may hand the installation to the Xbox app. Accept that hand-off, sign in with the same Microsoft account, and choose an available drive. You can install the games one at a time to control storage and bandwidth rather than starting every download simultaneously.
Find a game after you have claimed it
Microsoft Store library
Use Start > Microsoft Store > Gaming > Library/My Library. Scroll through the owned items or use the library search. Select the download icon or Install. Microsoft describes Xbox games purchased digitally as available for installation or reinstallation from the Store library or Order history; a promotional entitlement is likewise expected to appear under the account that redeemed it.
Xbox app
Open the Xbox app and sign in with the account used for the claim. Browse the library or search for the title, then select Install. If the Xbox app shows a purchase price instead of an install control, stop and verify the account and redemption status rather than buying the game again.
Windows search and shortcuts
After installation, the game can appear in the Start menu and in the Xbox app. A shortcut only launches the installed files; it does not prove that the correct Microsoft account owns the license. For ownership questions, check the Store or Xbox library while signed in to the redeeming account.

The entitlement follows the Microsoft account used at redemption. It is not a transferable code that automatically belongs to whoever currently uses the hardware. If you reset or replace the PC, sign in to that same account and check the Store library to reinstall eligible titles.

Some games carry the Xbox Play Anywhere designation. Under Microsoft’s digital-goods rules, a qualifying Play Anywhere title can be installed on compatible Windows devices and Xbox One or Xbox Series consoles using the same account. Play Anywhere does not mean that every game in this promotion works on a console; check the designation on the specific title.
Microsoft’s rules also limit a given game to play on one device or console at a time. Sharing an account, switching rapidly between devices, or using a family member’s account can therefore produce sign-in or license conflicts even when the game is installed correctly.
Check compatibility before downloading
Included does not mean universally installable. Open the game’s Store page and read the listed processor, memory, graphics, operating-system, storage, and other requirements. The Store can hide or disable purchase and installation controls when the current device is incompatible.

- Confirm that the PC is running the required Windows 11 build and has completed pending restarts.
- Check available space on the selected drive, including room for updates and temporary installation files.
- Review graphics and memory requirements for demanding titles before starting a large download.
- Check whether the title requires the Xbox app, additional services, or a particular account sign-in.
- Read the title’s region and age-rating information if the game is missing from search results.
System requirements are title-specific. Do not infer that a PC capable of running one included game can run all 25.
If the included offer or Install button is missing
1. Check the account in both applications
In Microsoft Store, open the account menu and verify the signed-in address. Do the same in the Xbox app. Sign out and back in if the two accounts differ, then revisit Gaming > Library/My Library. This is the most common explanation when a game appears to require purchase on one screen but is owned on another account.
2. Confirm region and offer geography
Microsoft says Store availability can vary by country or region. Confirm that Windows’ region, the Store region, the retailer’s country, and the promotion’s terms align. A U.S.-retailer offer may not appear on a PC purchased elsewhere, and changing a region setting does not create eligibility that the sale did not include.

3. Verify the PC’s exact SKU and purchase date
Compare the model and configuration on the invoice, box, or system information with the offer card. The reported promotion covers selected PCs, not every Windows 11 computer. Also verify the purchase and activation dates against the terms attached to your device. If the PC was bought after a displayed deadline, ask the retailer or Microsoft Support whether a later period applies.
4. Recheck the claim deadline
The October 16, 2026 Windows Central report gives several different dates: a November 2–December 31, 2026 purchase period, a Microsoft Store claim window reportedly ending November 30, 2026, and a December 2, 2027 deadline for activating the PC and claiming the bundle to an account. Because the first two dates do not obviously fit together, do not rely on the report alone. Use the date shown on the offer card and Microsoft’s current terms for your PC.
5. Update and restart
Install pending updates for Windows, Microsoft Store, and the Xbox app. Restart Windows after a system update, then check the library again. Microsoft lists restarting as a remedy when a recently updated PC cannot install Store apps.
6. Reset the Store cache if Microsoft Store will not open
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
wsreset.exeand press Enter. - Wait while the cache is cleared and Microsoft Store reopens.
- Sign in again if necessary, open Gaming > Library/My Library, and search for the claimed titles.
The reset does not change which account owns the games; it addresses a Store startup or cache problem.
7. Check family settings, compatibility, and availability
Microsoft identifies family settings, device compatibility, and regional availability as reasons a Store app or game may not appear. Review family-content restrictions for the signed-in account, open the title’s Store page directly, and compare its requirements with the PC. A restricted or incompatible title can remain absent even after the bundle itself is valid.
8. Escalate with evidence
If the offer remains missing, gather the PC model and serial information, purchase date and retailer, the offer-card wording, Microsoft account address (do not publish your password), region, and screenshots of the Store and Xbox account menus. Give that information to the retailer or Microsoft Support and ask them to verify the device’s promotion eligibility and redemption status.

Installing efficiently and avoiding common mistakes
Install selectively
Claim the bundle first, then install only the games you want immediately. You can return to the library later and install or reinstall other claimed titles without paying again, provided the same Microsoft account remains available and the title is still supported in your region.
Keep the PC awake during the first download
Large games can take substantial time. Use a stable connection, keep the PC connected to power, and avoid shutting down while the Store or Xbox app is applying the license and downloading files. If a download pauses, reopen the library and resume rather than initiating a second purchase.
Use the correct drive
When the installer offers a location, select a drive with enough free space for the game and future updates. Changing drives later can require a move or reinstall through the Xbox app or Store. If installation fails immediately, free space and drive permissions are safer first checks than repeatedly claiming the offer.

Account ownership is the decision that is hardest to undo. Before claiming, verify the email address and profile shown in both Store and Xbox. If another person completed the claim, sign in to that account to find the entitlement; do not buy a second copy until Microsoft confirms that the original redemption cannot be corrected.
Questions about the reported 2026 promotion
Is every Windows 11 PC eligible?
No. The reported promotion is for selected PCs sold by participating U.S. retailers. Eligibility depends on the exact SKU and terms supplied with the computer.
Can I claim the games after reinstalling Windows?
Reinstalling Windows does not itself remove an account-based entitlement. Complete setup, connect to the internet, sign in to the Microsoft account that redeemed the offer, and check the Store library. The activation and claim deadline still applies.
Can I transfer the games to a different Microsoft account?
The entitlement is associated with the account used for redemption. The available rules do not describe a transfer mechanism, so choose the account carefully before claiming.
Can I play the games on Xbox?
Only titles marked Xbox Play Anywhere extend to compatible Xbox One or Xbox Series consoles under the same account. Other PC titles in the bundle remain PC entitlements, and Microsoft’s one-device-at-a-time rule still applies.
Why does the Store show a price for a game that was included?
The usual causes are a different Microsoft account, an unclaimed offer, regional availability, an incompatible device, family restrictions, or a Store/Xbox synchronization problem. Verify the account and claim status first, then update, restart, and reset the Store cache if needed.
