You can get System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster on PC through a supported digital storefront such as Steam or GOG. Sign in to the account tied to your purchase or qualifying historical offer, check its library or order history for the game, then use that store’s download and installation flow. If you use GOG, its product page offers an offline installer that does not require GOG Galaxy.
How to claim the remaster on PC
First identify which storefront and account should hold the game. Steam and GOG list the remaster, and Nightdive’s June 27, 2025 patch announcement also named Epic Games and Humble Bundle. Availability, regional access and prices can change, so check the storefront directly before buying.
- Choose the relevant storefront. Use the store where you bought the remaster or made a purchase that may have qualified for a historical offer.
- Sign in to the account used for that transaction. If you are unsure which account it was, check your order confirmation or the store’s account order history.
- Look for the game in your library or order records. If it is not listed, confirm that you are signed into the right account and that the purchase or offer actually covered this remaster.
- If you do not already own it, check the current store listing. The dated sources establish storefront listings, not today’s price or regional availability.
- Start the store’s download and installation process. The precise interface labels can change; follow the instructions shown in your current client or account page.
Does owning the original System Shock 2 get you the remaster?
Not automatically, based on the documented GOG launch terms. GOG’s June 26, 2025 announcement offered owners of the classic game a 50% discount on the remaster, but that offer expired on June 29, 2025 at 1 PM UTC. It was a time-limited discount, not a stated free-copy entitlement.
Who was eligible for a free copy?
GOG’s June 26, 2025 announcement said customers who had pre-ordered System Shock: Enhanced Edition when it was released would receive the remaster free. Treat that as a specific launch-period eligibility statement, not a guarantee that any other purchase qualifies. Check the GOG account and order history associated with the qualifying pre-order; if the game is not there, consult GOG support with the relevant order details.

How to install it without GOG Galaxy
GOG says buyers can download a fully offline installer and install the game without GOG Galaxy. Sign in to the GOG account that owns the game, open the remaster’s account download options, and choose the offline installer if it is available for that account and region. Download the installer files, then run the installer and follow its prompts. Confirm the current product page for available downloads and instructions.
Check Steam’s PC requirements before installing
Steam lists the following requirements for the game. These are the game’s listed requirements; Steam separately notes that its client has supported Windows 10 and later since January 1, 2024.

The Windows 7 minimum is the game’s stated requirement, but it does not override Steam’s newer client-support note. If installing through Steam, check whether the Steam client runs on your version of Windows before relying on the game’s minimum OS line.

Which storefront route should you use?
- Use the account with the entitlement. A copy or historical offer is tied to its qualifying transaction and account, not simply to owning a different game in the series.
