Check each ear on its own. If the seal is weak, sound can seem thin and outside noise may come through; on Melomania 1, Cambridge Audio says a good seal should improve bass and reduce external noise.
How to find the right size
- Start with the tips supplied for your exact model. Try every size and material included. A tip that is too small or too large may feel uncomfortable, slip out, or fail to seal properly.
- Fit each ear separately. Ears can differ, so do not assume the same size will work on both sides. Treat this as a practical fitting method; Cambridge Audio specifically notes differing ears in its guidance about Touch fin bands, not as a separate ear-tip sizing rule.
- Insert gently. Set the earbud in place with light pressure until the tip seals comfortably. Do not push it far into the ear canal or force a seal.
- Check comfort and sound. The tip should stay seated without painful pressure. On Melomania 1, Cambridge Audio says a good seal should improve bass, make audio louder, and reduce outside noise.
Cambridge Audio’s Melomania 1 fitting FAQ describes choosing the correct size as important for both comfort and sound, especially bass. Use sound as a fit clue, not as proof that the earbuds are defective.
Fit advice by Melomania model
Melomania 1
Try the full supplied set and stop once you have a comfortable, secure seal. If an earbud falls out or the seal feels weak, Cambridge Audio suggests trying a larger tip. If you feel pressure or discomfort, try a smaller one. For the supplied foam tips, roll or compress the foam, insert it before it expands, and allow it to settle in place.
Melomania 1+
The supplied options include silicone tips in small, medium, and large, plus medium and large foam tips. Try all the available sizes. Compress the foam with your fingers before inserting it, and avoid pushing the tip too far into the ear. Cambridge Audio provides this advice in its Melomania 1/1+ fit guidance.

Melomania Touch
Touch uses small, medium, and large silicone tips designed to sit at the canal opening and seal against outside noise. Cambridge Audio does not recommend foam tips for Touch: as foam expands, it may move the earbud from its intended position, leading to discomfort or a poorer fit. The company also says Melomania 1/1+ tips do not fit Touch because the designs differ in shape and size. See its Touch tip compatibility guidance.
Melomania M100
The official Melomania M100 Quick Start Guide illustrates standard fit tips in S, M, and L, and premium fit tips in S and L. Cambridge Audio says tips for Melomania 1/1+ and Touch will not fit M100 correctly because of differences in design, shape, and size. Check that replacement tips are explicitly intended for M100 rather than relying on a general Cambridge Audio label. The guide’s phrase is “GREAT FIT = GREAT SOUND!”

Other Cambridge Audio models
Do not assume the sizes or compatibility rules above apply to other models. The A100 Quick Start Guide illustrates standard S/M/L tips, but the guidance cited here does not establish further fitting instructions or cross-model compatibility for A100.
Troubleshoot a poor fit

Buying replacement tips
Search using the complete model name, such as “Cambridge Audio Melomania M100 replacement ear tips,” and confirm the listing explicitly names your model. Cambridge Audio says Melomania 1/1+ and Touch tips do not fit M100 correctly; it also says 1/1+ tips do not fit Touch. A product listing alone is not proof of compatibility.

Third-party tips may affect whether the earbuds still fit in their charging case. Case clearance is not established for every aftermarket tip, so check the seller’s fit details and confirm the earbuds can sit correctly in the case before relying on a replacement. Comply lists foam tips designed for Melomania 1 and Touch, but Cambridge Audio’s advice against foam on Touch still applies; verify the precise model and fit before buying.
