Use Snipping Tool for ordinary screenshots and short clips
Take a screenshot
For an image, press Windows+Shift+S to open the screenshot capture controls. Choose the capture shape that matches the job: freeform for an irregular area, rectangle for a selected region, window for an application window, or full screen for the entire display. Record a rectangular video snip
To make a short recording of part of the screen, open Snipping Tool and select the Record button, then New, or press Windows+Shift+R. Select the rectangular area to record and start the capture. Use Xbox Game Bar when the target is a game
Xbox Game Bar is a Windows gaming overlay. Press Windows+G to open it while playing a PC game. Microsoft documents taking game screenshots and recording gameplay, including the shortcut Windows+Alt+G to start or stop recording for full-screen PC games.
Choose Game Bar when the thing being captured is gameplay and the overlay is available in your game and Windows configuration.
