One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchThe best Nokia phone for you depends first on whether you need Android apps or just calls and texts. For a smartphone, compare the exact model’s screen and cameras, 5G bands, battery and charging, repair options, remaining software support, and local price and warranty. The Nokia G42 5G is the stronger documented fit for repairability and battery capacity; the Nokia X30 5G has the sharper display and more versatile listed camera hardware. Both are older models, so check current local availability and support before buying.
Which Nokia phone is best for me?
Start with the kind of phone you need. If you want Android apps, mobile data, and a smartphone camera, compare smartphone models such as the G42 5G and X30 5G below. If you only need calls and texts, a basic phone may suit you better; the evidence here does not establish which feature phone is best across today’s markets, so check current local models and availability separately.
Nokia-branded phones are licensed and sold through HMD Global Oy; Nokia Corporation is a separate company. HMD’s newsroom has announcements for the G22, G42, XR21, and X30, but an announcement archive does not confirm that a phone is still sold or supported where you live.
Rank your priorities before comparing models:
- Apps or basic calling: decide whether you need a smartphone and mobile data.
- Screen and camera: consider resolution, panel type, stabilization, and camera options.
- Network compatibility: check the precise regional model and its carrier bands, not just the 5G label.
- Battery and charging: compare capacity and charging support, while allowing for differences in real-world use.
- Repairability: check whether the parts you might need are available and whether you can do the repair.
- Software support: verify the current Android and security update status for your exact regional device.
- Purchase terms: compare local price, stock, SIM configuration, warranty, and seller.
The comparison below is based on HMD’s published specifications and launch-era support promises, not hands-on testing. These phones launched in 2023 (G42) and 2022 (X30), so those promises do not tell you how much support remains today.

|---|---|---|---|
| Screen | 6.56-inch HD+ (720 × 1612), 90Hz | 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED, 90Hz | The X30 has the higher resolution and AMOLED panel on paper; those specifications alone do not establish overall screen quality. |

| Battery and charging | 5000mAh; 20W charging support | 4200mAh; 33W charging support | The G42 has the larger stated capacity; the X30 supports higher-wattage charging. Neither figure alone predicts your runtime or charging time. |

Confirm parts availability and repair requirements. |
| Launch software promise | Android 13 at launch and two OS upgrades | Android 12 at launch, three OS upgrades, and three years of monthly security updates from global launch | These are launch-era commitments, not a statement of current or remaining support. |

Which Nokia has the best camera?
Between these two examples, the X30 has the stronger listed camera hardware: a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 13MP ultrawide camera, and a 16MP front camera. The G42 datasheet lists a 50MP main camera but does not state OIS. This is a hardware comparison, not a verdict on photo quality: no independent comparative camera testing is established here.
Which Nokia phone has the best battery life?
The G42 has the larger stated battery capacity: 5000mAh, compared with the X30’s 4200mAh. HMD’s G42 datasheet describes “3-day battery life” based on its real-life usage test. It also says, “The battery will keep 80% of its original capacity after 800 full charging cycles – that’s about four years of charges.” The datasheet’s fine print says the battery was tested to maintain more than 80% after 800 full charging cycles. These are HMD’s manufacturer claims, not independent tests or guarantees for every user. Actual runtime depends on usage and network conditions.

The X30 lists 33W charging support, compared with 20W for the G42. Charging support is not the same as a measured charging time; the available specifications do not establish how long either phone takes to charge in real use.
Is the Nokia G42 repairable?
HMD identifies the G42’s battery, charging port, and display as QuickFix-repairable. iFixit lists G42 guides and parts, including options for battery, screen, charging-port, and cover repairs. That makes the G42 the clearer choice of these two if repair access matters, but it does not guarantee that a replacement part is in stock or that a repair is suitable for every owner.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does the Nokia G42 support 5G?
Yes. HMD lists 5G for the G42, but the label alone does not guarantee service on your carrier. Band support varies by regional model, so check the exact variant’s listed bands against your carrier’s requirements. Apply the same check to the X30 5G.

Is the Nokia X30 still worth buying?
It may be worth considering if its FHD+ AMOLED screen, OIS-equipped main camera, ultrawide camera, or IP67 rating match your priorities and the local offer is good. But it launched in 2022, and its listed three OS upgrades and three years of monthly security updates began at global launch. Those figures do not establish whether the phone still receives updates in your region today. Verify its present software status with HMD before purchase, then weigh that against price, warranty, stock, and alternatives available locally.
HMD’s X30 datasheet describes its construction as “Made with 100% recycled aluminium and 65% recycled plastic.” These are manufacturer-stated material figures, not independently audited comparative sustainability findings.

- Repair parts: for a G42 repair, confirm the part is in stock, matches your variant, and comes with a guide appropriate to your skill level.
