There is no single best Amplified weapon in ARC Raiders: Frozen Trail. Choose Renegade → Scoped for long-range ARC work, Burletta → Full Auto for close Raider fights, Rattler → More Reload → Drum Mag for sustained fire, or Hairpin → Semi-Auto → Sprint Shooting for accurate run-and-gun play. Anvil, Bettina and Kettle with X Rounds are the reported armor-focused PvE choices.

Frozen Trail 2.0, released October 8, 2026, added Amplified Weapons as a fifth quality tier. Amplification is a branching modification system, not an automatic increase to every statistic. You must unlock and develop the Outpost research infrastructure, obtain a module that matches the weapon’s rarity, and apply it to a supported Tier IV weapon. Because branches can exclude one another and some numerical details come from preview builds, spend materials only after matching the path to your target, distance and tolerance for recoil.

What an Amplified weapon changes

Frozen Trail’s Amplified tier changes how a weapon behaves through selectable modules. The tier itself does not simply add a universal damage, accuracy or handling bonus. As an Embark developer explained, an Amplified weapon is “kind of like the fifth quality level” that upgrades a branching path so players can select modules that alter the weapon in different ways. That design makes the right path dependent on your build and encounter rather than on a permanent global ranking.

For example, Scoped Renegade trades some close-range comfort for a sniper scope and a strong long-distance role. Full-Auto Burletta turns a sidearm into a close-quarters automatic weapon while reducing damage and headshot efficiency. Drum Mag Rattler gives a much larger reserve in each magazine but adds recoil, dispersion and slower aiming. These are different tools, not successive levels of the same stat package.

What the launch evidence does and does not establish

  • The Frozen Trail 2.0 update added Amplified Weapons, the Pendola Pass map, an Outpost with a Research Station, the Frigate and fallen Emperor endgame content.
  • Only 15 weapons supported amplification at launch according to the reviewed path report. The complete roster was not published in the material available for this guide; Stiletto and Bantam were specifically reported as unsupported at launch.
  • Several perk numbers and feel assessments were taken from preview versions. Treat them as reported behavior, not a guarantee that every value will remain identical in the live build.
  • Exact material costs were not publicly stated. Do not plan a craft around an assumed number of modules, fragments or other components.

Unlocking Amplification step by step

The practical route below combines the official update and support information with the launch progression reported by Power Up Gaming. Menu names can change in later patches, but the required sequence is the important part.

  1. Photograph the farmland house near Ruined Homestead on Blue Gate. This starts the Outpost-related progression described in the launch route.
  2. Complete the Outpost project objectives. The project must be finished before the research infrastructure can be developed.
  3. Expand the Outpost to level 4. The reported route requires the fourth Outpost level rather than merely unlocking the location.
  4. Upgrade the Gunsmith to level 4. This enables the weapon-upgrade capability needed for the final application step.
  5. Upgrade the Research Station to level 4. The official support FAQ confirms that unlocking the Outpost unlocks the Research Station; the launch route then calls for both facilities to reach level 4.
  6. Raise the weapon you intend to modify to Tier IV. An Amplification Module is applied to a supported Tier IV weapon, so a lower-tier copy cannot complete the process.
  7. Obtain a matching-rarity Amplification Module. The module’s rarity must match the weapon’s rarity. Modules were reported from the Frigate and the fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass.
  8. Open Gunsmith → Weapon Upgrades and apply the module. Select the supported Tier IV weapon, verify the module rarity, and choose the first available branch. Read the follow-on nodes before confirming because selecting one route can lock out alternatives.

Before you commit a module

  • Confirm that the weapon is in the supported launch group; Stiletto and Bantam were not amplifiable at launch.
  • Check the branch preview for mutually exclusive nodes. Do not assume that every listed amplification can be stacked.
  • Keep a spare conventional weapon if the amplified gun is likely to be lost. An amplified weapon reportedly falls to 10% durability when its owner dies.
  • Reserve repair materials. Amplified Fragments repair amplified weapons, and old Anvil Splitters can be recycled into fragments.

Best paths by role

Goal Path What it does Main trade-off
Long-range ARC and flying targets Renegade → Scoped Adds a sniper scope and is the clearest long-range choice; preview users favored it for clearing flying ARC. Weak inside roughly 30 m; the scope can make hip-fire feel worse. Preview evidence is limited.
Close Raider fights Burletta → Full Auto Raises fire rate and converts the pistol into a close-quarters automatic weapon. Lower damage and headshot multiplier, with substantially more recoil and dispersion.
Sustained fire or solo pressure Rattler → More Reload → Drum Mag More Reload loads four rounds per cycle instead of two; Drum Mag adds 40 rounds, producing 64 rounds from a Level IV base in the reported setup. More recoil and shot spread plus slower ADS. Confirm whether later nodes can be combined before spending materials.
High-skill run-and-gun Hairpin → Semi-Auto → Sprint Shooting Raises fire rate, then permits firing while running. Semi-Auto lowers the headshot multiplier and increases per-shot dispersion; demands accurate tracking.
Hit information while moving Hairpin → Tracker Rounds Reveals targets hit by the round for five seconds. Gives information rather than a direct damage increase and competes with other Hairpin branches.
PvE armor focus Anvil, Bettina or Kettle → X Rounds The guide’s armor-plating bonus makes X Rounds the explicit armor-oriented option. Official hands-on values are not fully documented; verify the live tooltip before committing.
Controlled burst damage Burletta → Burst Fire Adds projectiles per burst and can add magazine rounds at the next node. Requires deliberate shot placement and is less forgiving than automatic fire.

Renegade: the long-range ARC specialist

Why Scoped is the default ARC recommendation

Choose Renegade → Scoped when your priority is distance, exposed angles and flying ARC. The scope is the defining change: it lets the rifle operate as a deliberate long-range tool instead of relying on an unmodified sight picture. Preview users specifically liked this configuration for clearing airborne ARC, which is why it is the strongest recommendation for that role.

Use cover and establish distance before opening fire. The path is reported to perform poorly at about 30 m and closer, where a scope can slow target acquisition and make hip-fire feel awkward. Carry a secondary that handles an unexpected Raider push, or switch to a different primary if your usual routes force indoor fights.

When not to choose it

Do not select Scoped simply because a scope sounds like a universal upgrade. If most engagements happen in compounds, tunnels or short sight lines, the close-range penalty matters more than the extra reach. A player who spends more time fighting Raiders at short distance may get more practical value from Burletta or Hairpin.

Burletta: automatic or burst sidearm paths

Full Auto for close Raiders

Full-Auto Burletta increases the rate of fire and changes the pistol into a close-quarters automatic weapon. It is the clearest choice when a Raider is pushing your position and you need repeated shots without manually resetting between rounds. The price is substantial: lower damage, a lower headshot multiplier, and much greater recoil and dispersion. It rewards controlled bursts of the trigger rather than holding the trigger at every distance.

Burst Fire for controlled pressure

Burst Fire adds projectiles per burst and may add magazine rounds on the next node. It suits players who can place a complete burst on a target and want more front-loaded damage without accepting the full spread of automatic fire. It is less forgiving if the first burst misses, so it is not automatically better than Full Auto in a panic fight.

Sprint Shooting branch

The confirmed branch inventory includes Sprint Shooting for Burletta. Its practical value is mobility during a close fight, but the available material does not establish a complete numerical profile or whether it can be combined with every other Burletta node. Inspect the in-game branch screen before assuming that Sprint Shooting, Full Auto and Burst Fire can coexist.

Rattler: building a sustained-fire magazine

More Reload

More Reload changes the reload cycle from two rounds to four in the reported configuration. That reduces the number of reload interruptions during a prolonged fight and is the logical first step toward the drum-magazine route.

Drum Mag

Drum Mag adds 40 rounds. With the reported Level IV base, the resulting setup carries 64 rounds. That is valuable for solo pressure, finishing several targets, or holding an angle where a reload would expose you. It also creates a forgiving reserve when fighting durable ARC.

The added capacity is not free. The reported configuration increases recoil and shot dispersion and slows ADS. Use shorter strings at medium distance, pre-aim before exposing yourself, and avoid treating the drum as permission to spray at every range. Because the available report does not establish whether all later Rattler branches stack, verify the branch map before buying both More Reload and Drum Mag.

Incendiary Rounds

Incendiary Rounds is another confirmed Rattler branch. It changes the weapon’s damage behavior rather than simply increasing ammunition capacity. The available evidence does not provide a complete live-game damage value, so compare its tooltip with Drum Mag when you know whether your encounters require damage-over-time pressure or uninterrupted volume.

Hairpin: movement, fire rate and information

Semi-Auto plus Sprint Shooting

Semi-Auto raises fire rate, while Sprint Shooting permits firing while running. Together they form the high-skill run-and-gun path: keep moving through an encounter, maintain a faster cadence and punish targets that expect you to stop before shooting. The cost is lower headshot multiplier and greater per-shot dispersion from Semi-Auto. It is strongest for players who can track targets while moving and weakest for anyone who depends on perfectly placed single shots.

Tracker Rounds

Tracker Rounds reveal hit targets for five seconds. That information can be more valuable than a modest damage change when Raiders are using cover or when a squad needs to keep pressure on a fleeing opponent. The effect rewards an accurate first hit; it does not replace damage or make missed shots useful. Treat it as an information branch and select it when target visibility, not raw time-to-kill, is your limiting problem.

Incendiary Rounds lockout

Hairpin also has Incendiary Rounds, but the reported path notes that choosing this amplification locks out the other Hairpin amplifications. This is the clearest warning against spending a module before reading the entire tree. Decide whether you want movement, tracking information or incendiary behavior first; do not expect to recover every option on one weapon.

Armor-focused PvE choices: Anvil, Bettina and Kettle

The guide recommends X Rounds on Anvil, Bettina or Kettle when your main target is armored PvE. The explicit armor-plating bonus makes this the most direct answer for players who want a weapon built around damaging plated ARC rather than fighting Raiders.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Anvil

Anvil has X Rounds and Anvil Splitter in the confirmed branch inventory. The path report notes that Anvil Splitter is now an Amplified Anvil upgrade rather than a separate mod. Old Anvil Splitters can be recycled into Amplified Fragments for repairs, so check your inventory before discarding them.

Bettina

Bettina offers Bigger Mag, Semi-Auto and X Rounds. Bigger Mag addresses ammunition uptime, Semi-Auto favors a faster firing rhythm, and X Rounds targets armor. Pick one according to the encounter instead of assuming that all three benefits are available simultaneously.

Kettle

Kettle offers X Rounds and Anti-Shield. The independent path report describes Kettle as having distinct PvE and PvP branches, making it a useful choice when you want to specialize rather than carry one compromise build. X Rounds is the PvE armor route; Anti-Shield is the branch to investigate for shield-heavy player fights.

Choosing for PvE, PvP and mixed expeditions

For ARC and flying targets

Start with Scoped Renegade. Its distance advantage and reported performance against flying ARC solve a specific PvE problem. If your route also contains frequent close Raider attacks, pair it with a close-range secondary rather than forcing the scoped rifle to do both jobs.

For Raider fights

Choose Full-Auto Burletta when encounters collapse into short range and you can manage recoil. Choose Hairpin’s movement path when staying mobile is more important than maximum burst, or Tracker Rounds when your squad needs to keep sight of targets behind cover. Burst-Fire Burletta is the middle option for players who prefer deliberate volleys.

For solo pressure and long engagements

Rattler’s More Reload and Drum Mag route provides the largest reported ammunition pool and fewer interruptions. Its recoil, dispersion and slower ADS make it a poor universal answer, so use it where sustained fire is more important than fast first-shot accuracy.

  1. Identify the target you lose to most often: flying ARC, armored ARC, a close Raider or a shielded player.
  2. Set the usual distance: under 30 m, medium range, or long sight lines.
  3. Decide whether your limiting resource is ammunition, accuracy, movement or information.
  4. Check recoil and dispersion tolerance. A path that looks powerful on paper can reduce practical hits.
  5. Read the lockout indicator and confirm repair access before applying the module.

Durability, repairs and opportunity cost

Amplified weapons carry a sharper loss risk than ordinary gear because a looted amplified weapon reportedly drops to 10% durability when its owner dies. Bring one only when its branch solves a problem you actually expect to face, and maintain a conventional backup for a run where losing the weapon would leave you unable to fight.

Amplified Fragments repair amplified weapons. Old Anvil Splitters can be recycled into those fragments, which gives obsolete items a recovery path instead of making them useless. Because exact amplification costs are not public, keep fragments and modules until you have selected a branch and know the live repair requirement.

Common mistakes and fixes

Treating amplification as a raw-stat upgrade

Symptom: the modified gun feels worse in a different situation. Fix: compare the branch’s new behavior with your normal engagement distance. Scope, automatic fire, larger magazines and movement fire all carry handling costs.

Free tools Windows power users keep installed

Spending on an unsupported weapon

Symptom: no module can be applied in Weapon Upgrades. Fix: confirm the weapon is in the supported launch group and is Tier IV. Stiletto and Bantam were not amplifiable at launch.

Using the wrong rarity module

Symptom: the module is present but cannot be selected. Fix: match the module’s rarity to the weapon’s rarity before entering Gunsmith → Weapon Upgrades.

Assuming every branch combines

Symptom: a desired second node is unavailable after the first choice. Fix: inspect the complete branch preview before confirming. Hairpin’s Incendiary Rounds, for example, is reported to lock out its other amplifications.

Ignoring the repair economy

Symptom: the amplified weapon is unusable after a death or repeated runs. Fix: save Amplified Fragments, recycle old Anvil Splitters where appropriate, and do not take an expensive branch into a run where its advantage is irrelevant.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Bottom line: match the branch to the fight

For most players, start with Scoped Renegade for long-range ARC, Full-Auto Burletta for close Raiders, Drum Mag Rattler for sustained fire, or Hairpin’s Semi-Auto and Sprint Shooting route for mobile accuracy. Choose X Rounds on Anvil, Bettina or Kettle when armor is the PvE problem. These are role recommendations, not a permanent tier list: amplification is deliberately built around trade-offs, branch lockouts, uncertain live values and the real risk of losing a low-durability weapon.
