The PlayStation Store confirms that an alternative preset can reduce the overall challenge, but the listing does not publish preset names or numerical modifiers. Treat every dungeon floor as a readiness test: fight on a manageable floor, return to town, spend Tres or improve equipment, restock, and then test the next floor. Death has no reported penalty, so experimentation is safe.
Dark Witch’s Story: COMBAT is managed less by a named difficulty slider than by deck and match planning. Build a three-character team, use Support and Main phases deliberately, manage Syega Crystals, and plan for a best-of-three match rather than one isolated round. On PS5, no verified game-specific graphics mode, frame-rate selector, HDR behavior, DualSense feature, remapping list or text-size control has been published. Keep normal console display and controller defaults, then change only options that actually appear in the shipped game.
What the two games ask you to optimize
The package combines two different systems under one PS5 release. Gematsu identifies Inside System as developer and publisher and lists the PS5 release date as October 24, 2026. Its description presents Brave Dungeon as a dungeon-crawling RPG with turn-based combat, party customization, class changes, crafting and character-specific strengths. Dark Witch’s Story: COMBAT is a rebuilt turn-based deck-building battler with a separate ruleset.

Use the game’s own systems rather than trying to solve both with a single PS5 video preset. A sharper display cannot compensate for entering a floor without recovery, and an automated replay cannot teach the medal system or Final-battle restrictions.

Choosing Brave Dungeon’s difficulty
Begin with the lower alternative preset
The PlayStation Store confirms that Brave Dungeon offers an alternative preset difficulty that lowers the overall challenge. It does not identify the preset names or state how enemy statistics, rewards or other rules change. Select the lower option when you are learning how the three-character party works, testing a new class path, or still reading the medal and skill systems shared by the package. Record the exact label shown on your copy instead of assuming it is called “Easy” or applying an undocumented percentage.
If you already understand party construction and want the intended pressure, select the standard preset. Because the published listing does not describe a slider or a mid-game conversion rule, make the choice at the prompt the game provides and verify whether the menu allows a later change before committing to a long run.
Use floors as readiness checks
Nintendo Life describes a clear overall curve across five dungeons but warns that the jump from one floor to the next can be substantial. A practical loop is:

- Scout a manageable floor. Fight enough visible enemies to learn their damage, status effects and drop types without exhausting recovery resources.
- Stop before the party is depleted. The objective is information and materials, not reaching the next floor at any cost.
- Return to town. Restock, spend Tres on the skills that support your current roles, and craft or equip improvements made possible by the drops you collected.
- Re-enter and test one change. Change one variable—skill level, equipment, class path or route—so you can tell what solved or failed the previous attempt.
- Advance only after a clean clear. If the floor required repeated emergency recovery or left no resources for the exit, treat it as a warning rather than proof that the next floor is ready.
Dying carries no reported penalty. That makes a deliberate scouting run sensible: you can test an enemy group, learn a route and restart the loop without losing a stated currency or inventory fee.

Route around danger while learning
Enemies are visible on the map. Use that information to choose a route around fights while learning a floor, then deliberately enter selected encounters when you need experience or materials. Avoiding every enemy can leave the party underpowered; fighting everything can consume recovery items before the objective. Alternate safe routing with targeted battles that supply the drops required for your next craft or town improvement.
Building a reliable Brave Dungeon party
Cover jobs instead of stacking one damage type
Brave Dungeon uses three-character turn-based parties and lets you select allies with different strengths. A robust learning formation reserves one slot for dependable recovery or support and uses the other two for damage and technical effects. This is a strategic starting point, not a developer-prescribed “correct” composition. Replace a role when a floor’s enemies expose a weakness or punish a particular approach.
- Recovery/support slot: preserve the party through long routes and provide utility when an enemy resists direct damage.
- Primary damage slot: deliver consistent attacks so ordinary encounters do not become resource drains.
- Flexible technical slot: exploit weaknesses, apply control or supply a second damage profile when the primary attack is inefficient.
Do not change all three characters and every class at once. Test one substitution on a known floor, then keep the result that lowers incoming damage or shortens battles without exhausting resources.
Spend Tres and change classes with a purpose
Nintendo Life reports manual skill upgrades using Tres and class-specialisation paths. Upgrade the skills that solve your immediate bottleneck: recovery when the party repeatedly retreats wounded, reliable damage when routine fights take too many turns, or utility when a specific status or resistance is stopping progress. Save enough currency to respond to the next floor rather than spending every point on a single high-cost option.

Class changes are strategic resets, not cosmetic swaps. Before changing a character, identify the job the party still needs and check that another member can cover the outgoing role. A class that looks stronger in isolation can make the group fragile if it removes recovery or leaves two characters competing for the same function.
Turn drops into power through crafting
Enemy drops feed crafting and town progression. When a floor is difficult, inspect whether the required material comes from a particular visible enemy rather than grinding every encounter. Route toward the useful group, collect the material, return to town and craft before attempting the next floor. This ties your map decisions to a concrete upgrade goal and limits unproductive battles.
Making Dark Witch’s Story: COMBAT easier through planning
Understand the match structure
Gematsu describes a rebuilt turn-based deck-building battler in which you choose three characters from more than 40, play best-of-three one-on-one rounds, divide each turn into Support and Main phases, use a 12-medal deck, and spend Syega Crystals that build each turn. Because a match is best-of-three, a line that wins one round but exhausts your options can still lose the set.
Keep a simple mental sequence: establish support, decide what the current Main phase must accomplish, spend Syega only when its timing changes the round, and preserve a plan for the next character. The exact strongest medal list is not established in the published material, so evaluate cards by how reliably they support your chosen team rather than copying an unverified “best deck.”

Balance Support and Main phases
- Support phase: use setup, protection or resource preparation when it improves the following exchanges rather than merely adding a small immediate effect.
- Main phase: convert that setup into damage, control or a favorable trade. Avoid spending the entire turn on effects that do not improve the best-of-three position.
- End-of-turn check: note your Syega income, the opponent’s likely response and which character enters the next one-on-one round.
Attributes, Team Links and signature medals are documented parts of the system. Use them as a package: choose characters whose links and signature effects reinforce the attribute plan of the deck, then adjust when a quest’s opponent makes that matchup inefficient.
Learn quests before automating them
Quest Mode contains 45 quests and can award experience, characters, medals, skills and higher ranks. Special Final battles have additional rules, so treat them as tests of understanding rather than ordinary farming stages. Auto Battle is documented for quests you have already cleared. Use it to repeat known content for experience or materials; do not use it as a substitute for learning Support/Main timing, attribute interactions or Final-battle restrictions.

The available listings verify the PS5 platform and an in-game alternative preset difficulty. They do not publish a Brave Dungeon or COMBAT graphics mode, frame-rate selector, HDR recommendation, DualSense-specific behavior, vibration toggle, controller-remapping list, text-size control or other accessibility menu. A 60-fps claim, an HDR-on recommendation or a named difficulty tier would therefore be speculation.

A conservative setup procedure
- Connect the PS5 to the display and controller profile you normally use for turn-based games. There is no verified requirement for a special accessory or display mode.
- Launch the game and open its visible Options, Settings or Accessibility menu. Write down the labels actually present; menu names may differ between the two included games.
- If a display, HDR, vibration, text or control option is present, change one item at a time and test it in a low-risk battle. If it is absent, do not force a console-level setting as though it were a supported game feature.
- Choose the lower alternative difficulty in Brave Dungeon if you are learning the systems. For COMBAT, concentrate on team, deck and phase decisions because no separate difficulty preset is established in the available description.
- Return to the same display and controller profile when comparing changes. Consistent conditions make it easier to identify whether a setting helped.
Optional PS5 system adjustments
PS5’s system-level Accessibility menu can assist with general controller or display needs, but those settings apply at the console level and do not prove that either game supports a corresponding in-game feature. Use the console’s Settings menus only for a need you already have—such as a system-wide control adjustment—and keep a note of the original value so you can restore it if another game behaves differently.

Difficulty and settings troubleshooting
The game feels too hard immediately
- In Brave Dungeon, verify that you selected the lower alternative preset if the opening choice offered one; the published listing does not give a universal label.
- Return to a manageable floor, recover, spend Tres and improve equipment before testing the next floor.
- Use visible enemies to avoid unnecessary fights while you learn, then target encounters that provide needed experience or crafting materials.
- Check that your three characters cover recovery, damage and a technical or utility role instead of duplicating one job.
A COMBAT deck wins one round but loses the match
- Re-plan for all three rounds instead of spending every strong medal in the opener.
- Use Support effects to prepare the Main phase and track Syega Crystal income before committing to a costly line.
- Review attributes, Team Links and signature medals together; a powerful card can be inefficient in the wrong matchup.
- Play Final battles manually until their special rules are familiar, then reserve Auto Battle for quests already cleared.
A supposed PS5 option is missing
That is consistent with the published information. No graphics, HDR, frame-rate, DualSense or text-size option is verified for either game. Check the actual shipped menu and use the console’s normal defaults rather than treating an absent control as a fault.
When to raise the challenge
Raise Brave Dungeon’s challenge only after you can clear a floor without emergency spending, know which drops support your next upgrade and can explain each party member’s job. The lower preset is most valuable during learning; once your route, class choices and crafting loop are stable, the standard preset provides a clearer test of execution.
For COMBAT, increase practical difficulty by experimenting with a different three-character lineup, attribute plan or medal balance after you understand the 45-quest progression. New Game+ in Brave Dungeon is reported to be more demanding, while COMBAT’s replay pressure comes from higher ranks, Final-battle rules and farming previously cleared quests. Choose the replay mode that tests the skill you want to improve instead of turning on automation before you understand the encounter.
