Choose by shape first: SteelSeries describes the Sensei Pro as symmetrical and the Rival Pro as ergonomic. One naming clarification: the SteelSeries product page located for this comparison calls the first mouse Sensei Pro, not “Sensei Pro X.” Confirm that “X” refers to the Sensei Pro before buying; the official listing does not establish a separate Sensei Pro X model.
What is the difference between Sensei Pro and Rival Pro?
The documented distinction is shell shape. SteelSeries labels the Sensei Pro symmetrical and the Rival Pro ergonomic. A symmetrical shell is the more natural starting point if you prefer a centered, balanced shape; an ergonomic shell is designed around a more contoured hand position. Those labels describe the designs, not a guaranteed fit or an aim advantage.
SteelSeries recommends both full-size models for palm and relaxed claw grips, and both Mini models for fingertip and aggressive claw grips. Treat that as a first-pass guide: hand length, width, finger proportions, and how you hold a mouse all affect comfort.
Which size and shape is more likely to fit?
| Variant | Dimensions (L × W × H) | Listed weight | SteelSeries’ grip guidance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full-size, black | 125.6 × 66.5 × 38.6 mm | 53 g | Palm or relaxed claw |
| Full-size, white | 125.6 × 66.5 × 38.6 mm | 54 g | Palm or relaxed claw |
| Mini, black | 118 × 62.5 × 36.2 mm | 49 g | Fingertip or aggressive claw |
| Mini, white | 118 × 62.5 × 36.2 mm | 50 g | Fingertip or aggressive claw |
These dimensions and color-specific weights are SteelSeries’ listed specifications on its product page, accessed in 2026. Check the exact color and size SKU because the listed white versions weigh one gram more. The same size guidance applies to either shape; it does not determine whether the symmetrical or ergonomic shell will feel better in your hand.

- ULTRA WIDEBAND (UWB) FOR 20X BANDWIDTH - Unlike 2.4GHz, Ultra Wideband is practically immune to wireless traffic for insane speed and stability using the 6GHz+ spectrum.
- TRUE 8K POLLING - 8x faster than 1K, with consistent 8K delivering super-fast movements and clicks (0.35ms click latency) - unlike other products with simulated 8K.
- INFINITE POWER SYSTEM - 2 Batteries allow you to charge one while using the other. Hot-swap for unlimited playing time. Up to 120 hours @1K or 32 hours @8K (16-60 hours per battery).
- 2 SHAPES, 2 SIZES - Full-size (53g) suits palm grips and relaxed claw. Mini (49g) is smaller and great for fingertip grips and aggressive claw. Available in Ergonomic (Rival Pro) and Symmetrical (Sensei Pro).
- SUPERSYNC - Separate tracking and clicks by adjusting your sensor report rate to what suits your game (1K, 2K, 4K) for optimal performance, while still benefiting from 8K click polling.
Choose the shell before choosing the size
- Start with the Sensei Pro if you specifically want the symmetrical shape.
- Start with the Rival Pro if you want an ergonomic shape. PC Gamer’s September 29, 2026 review describes the Rival Pro as comfortable for a palm grip; that is one reviewer’s subjective assessment, not a universal fit finding.
- Within either model, compare your preferred grip with SteelSeries’ full-size and Mini guidance, then check the listed dimensions against a mouse you already find comfortable.
How should battery life affect the choice?
Both models use two hot-swappable batteries: SteelSeries says one can be in use while the other charges. Its product page gives a total of up to 120 hours at 1K polling (60 hours per battery) or 32 hours at 8K polling (16 hours per battery). These are manufacturer runtime figures, not independent measurements; the stated total changes substantially with polling rate. If you intend to use 8K polling, weigh that shorter listed runtime against the setting’s relevance to your setup rather than assuming the 1K figure applies.
PC Gamer also lists 60 hours per battery and up to 8K polling in its Rival Pro review. Those are review-reported specifications, not the result of a controlled comparison against the Sensei Pro.

Will either mouse work with your platform?
SteelSeries lists PC compatibility with Windows 10 and above, PlayStation (not all features may be supported), and Xbox Series S|X. Its product page also describes Smart DPI, adjustment options, sensitivity conversion, and setup through SteelSeries GG. The listed compatibility does not mean every feature is available on every platform. Check the current product listing for your region and platform before purchase, especially if you depend on a particular software feature.

- Choose Sensei Pro if you want the documented symmetrical shell and the official Sensei Pro listing is the product you meant by “Sensei Pro X.”
- Choose Rival Pro if you prefer the documented ergonomic shell; the PC Gamer reviewer also reported a positive palm-grip feel, though personal fit can differ.
- Choose full-size or Mini based on your hand and grip as a starting point: SteelSeries associates full-size with palm and relaxed claw, and Mini with fingertip and aggressive claw.
- Check polling and platform needs before treating the runtime figures or software features as a match for your setup.
The available specifications establish differences in shape and size, but they do not establish that either mouse performs better for aim or is the better choice for every player. No controlled head-to-head comparison is available here.
