There is no Samsung Googlebook in Google’s announced first wave: Google named Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo, while Samsung’s listed laptops are Chromebooks running ChromeOS. If you mean a Samsung Chromebook, compare its exact model with a named Googlebook and choose based on the apps, phone features, hardware and price you need.

First, know which products you are comparing

Google describes Googlebooks as a new premium laptop category built on Android technology with desktop foundations from ChromeOS. Traditional Chromebooks run ChromeOS. Samsung’s product comparison page lists the Galaxy Chromebook 2 360, Galaxy Chromebook 2 and Galaxy Chromebook Go as Chromebook models—not Googlebooks.

Google’s announcement names Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo for the first Googlebook wave. Samsung is not on that list. That confirms what was announced for the first wave, but does not establish whether Samsung might join a later one. See Google’s Googlebook announcement, its Googlebook FAQ and Samsung’s Chromebook models.

What matters most in the choice

Choose a Samsung Chromebook for a specific ChromeOS model

A Samsung Chromebook can make sense if you want ChromeOS and one of Samsung’s available screen sizes, configurations or connectivity options. Google describes Chromebooks as prioritizing simplicity, speed and efficiency for everyday use; that is Google’s product description, not a guarantee that every model suits every workload. Check the actual processor, memory, storage, screen and ports for the model you are considering.

Consider a Googlebook for Android phone continuity

Google highlights Continue On, Cast My Apps and access to phone files as Googlebook features. Google’s Canadian feature page says these phone-integration features require Android 17 or above. Check the Googlebook features page for availability and requirements; do not assume the features work with every phone, language or region.

Check apps and accessories against your real workflow

Google says Googlebooks support Android apps from Google Play and names productivity and creative apps. App availability and functionality can vary, and some titles or features require subscriptions. Before buying, verify the exact app version, the functions you rely on, and compatibility with required peripherals. Do not assume an Android app provides the same desktop features or workflow as its Windows or macOS counterpart.

Compare named models and published specifications

Googlebook announced lineup Google says 16GB is the baseline across the portfolio, with some models up to 32GB. Announced processor choices include Intel Core Ultra Series 3 and Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite; its FAQ also lists Core Ultra 5. Exact model-specific storage and display values should be checked against the named model. Google claims up to 14 hours of video playback and 16 hours of web browsing; actual runtime varies. Launch price starts at $899, per Google’s 2026 announcement.

Samsung specifications and battery figures are manufacturer-published claims, not independent measurements. Google’s processor, memory, battery and starting-price figures are likewise company claims for its announced lineup, not a promise that every configuration shares the same specification or price. Google also says Googlebook OS receives regular feature drops and updates for up to 10 years; check the support terms for the specific device. Do not assume that Google’s stated support period applies to Samsung Chromebooks.

Use this checklist before deciding

  1. Name the exact device. Confirm the model and configuration; “Samsung Googlebook” is not an identified product in the cited announcements.
  2. List must-have apps and peripherals. Verify their support on that model and operating system, including subscription requirements and any functions you cannot do without.
  3. Check phone requirements. If Android continuity matters, confirm your phone’s version and the feature’s availability in your region and language. Google’s Canadian feature page specifies Android 17 or above for the described integration.
  4. Compare the configuration you will actually buy. Check processor, memory, storage, display, weight and ports on the exact SKU rather than relying on category-level descriptions.
  5. Verify local buying details. Check current stock, price, return terms and local model names. Google announced U.S. shelf availability for October 4, 2026, and availability in Canada, the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany and Australia for October 5, 2026; those announced dates do not establish live inventory or pricing.
  6. Read battery figures as “up to” claims. Google’s playback and browsing figures and Samsung’s model-specific figures are manufacturer claims; your runtime depends on use.

Which one should you choose?

Choose a Samsung Chromebook if a named Samsung model’s ChromeOS experience and hardware configuration fit your everyday web, school or lightweight work needs. Consider a Googlebook if its Android-phone workflows, Android app access and premium hardware match your priorities, and the exact apps you need work for you. Compare the actual models and current offers rather than treating the category names as interchangeable.
