A giant playground with many vehicle types
The Crew 2 is aimed at players who see a road trip as a tour through a broad motorsport playground. Cars are only one part of the experience: the official description includes bikes, boats and planes. That variety changes the rhythm of exploration and is more important than having a narrowly realistic driving model.

BeamNG.drive treats driving as an experiment. You can investigate suspension movement, crashes, deformation and vehicle behavior on your own terms. - Choose it when your group has mixed driving skill and wants low-friction fun.
- Choose it when you want organized online activities without giving up solo wandering.

Ubisoft’s 2026 page reports over 800 vehicle models from more than 50 manufacturers. Because the game is live-service and the page can change, treat that figure as a time-stamped publisher claim, not a permanent specification. The Collection Import feature can also bring eligible vehicles from The Crew 2 into Motorfest; verify the current eligibility rules before assuming every vehicle transfers.

BeamNG.drive is the specialist choice. Its appeal comes from soft-body vehicle physics, deformation and the ability to create unusual driving situations, not from a conventional online road-trip schedule.
Version and development context
The game’s page is actively updated through version 0.39 in July 2026, with earlier updates listed by month and year. A version number is therefore important when you compare guides, mods or troubleshooting advice; an older video may describe behavior that has since changed.
What multiplayer actually means here
BeamNG’s official FAQ says: “Online multiplayer is a common request, and we are keeping an eye on it, but has never been part of the originally promised features.” The same FAQ documents multiseat as offline multiplayer. You are managing distance, cargo and a truck rather than chaining short races. The slower tempo makes it a good choice for conversation, route planning and a sense of completing a real haul. It also means a player seeking immediate arcade action may find the opening hours deliberately restrained.
