If you are in Great Britain, search the Gambling Commission’s public register for the business, its relevant bingo activity and the domain you plan to use. Then compare the game rules, ticket costs, prize terms, promotions, payment and withdrawal conditions, and account controls.
Rules and availability depend on location, and this guide’s licensing steps describe Great Britain—not a global standard. If you live elsewhere, check your own regulator and whether the service is permitted in your jurisdiction.
How do I choose an online bingo site?
Use the same checklist for each site you are considering. Compare only operators that are eligible to serve your location, and treat a licence as one important check—not proof that a site is right for you, that withdrawals will be instant, or that gambling is risk-free.
- Verify the operator. Check the legal business or trading name, the relevant bingo authorisation where required, and the exact website domain.
- Understand the game. Read the room or game format, ticket price, prize rules and conditions for when a game ends.
- Work out the real cost. Check deposit minimums, any stated fees or limits, and the terms and timing for withdrawing money.
- Inspect promotions separately. Check wagering, expiry, eligible games and stakes, and any restrictions on converting or withdrawing promotional funds.
- Find account controls and support. Check what limits, time-outs, self-exclusion options and help or contact routes the operator currently provides.
- Assess usability only after the essentials. Mobile or browser performance and customer support require checking the current service; a polished interface does not establish that an operator is suitable.
If you compare sites, use a simple table and record the terms as published by each operator. Avoid reducing the decision to a bonus or a single score.

Is this bingo site licensed?
For readers in Great Britain
The Gambling Commission says an appropriate licence is required to run online or “remote” bingo. Its definition of remote communication includes the internet and other technologies. Its bingo sector guidance says a remote bingo operating licence covers bingo supplied through websites, apps, mobile, interactive television or radio. - Open the Gambling Commission’s public register from its bingo sector guidance.
- Search for the operator’s legal business name or trading name.
- Check that the listed activity is relevant to remote bingo and that the domain matches the exact site you intend to visit.
- Review any regulatory action shown. Compare the register entry with the licensing details and register link displayed on the site.
The Commission says the register includes licensed activities, domains and trading names, and regulatory action. Its guidance also says a remote site must display its licensing details and link to its register information. A logo or an advertising claim alone is not a substitute for matching the business, activity and domain on the register.

Outside Great Britain
Do not assume a Great Britain licence authorises a site in another country. Check the regulator for your location, local eligibility rules and whether the operator is permitted to offer bingo to you. Availability and requirements vary by jurisdiction.
What should I check in the bingo game and its price?
Read the rules for the specific room or game, rather than relying on a general description of “bingo.” The Gambling Commission describes bingo’s fundamental principles as equal chance, player participation and a clearly defined end point. Those high-level principles do not replace the operator’s detailed rules.

- Ticket or card cost: Confirm the price per ticket and how many tickets you are buying. Work out the total for the session you intend to play.
- Prize rules: Look for how prizes are allocated and any conditions that affect eligibility.
- End of game: Check how a round finishes and how the operator handles the result.
If the cost, prize rules or end conditions are difficult to find or understand, do not deposit on the assumption that the details will become clear later.
How should I judge a bingo bonus?

Translate wagering into stakes
A 2023 Department for Culture, Media and Sport paper illustrates the arithmetic with a £10 bonus carrying a 50x wagering requirement: the player would need to stake £500. That is an explanatory example, not a standard term for every offer. The paper also explains that wagering rules can require bonus funds to be staked repeatedly before winnings can be withdrawn. Check the full condition, not just the multiplier
- Which funds are subject to wagering: bonus funds, deposit funds, winnings, or a combination?
- Which games and stake sizes count toward the requirement?
- When does the offer expire, and what happens to unused promotional funds?
- Is there a cap on conversion or cashout, or another withdrawal condition?
- Must you opt in, and does accepting the offer change withdrawal eligibility?
The same government paper discusses expiry deadlines, including examples as short as seven days, and warns that high requirements combined with tight deadlines can create urgency and encourage higher-intensity play. Those examples are policy context, not a description of every current offer. If the conditions are unclear or the deadline pressures you to play more than intended, skip the promotion.

The Competition and Markets Authority’s online gambling promotions guidance states: “Millions of people gamble online, so it’s important that gambling promotions are fair and transparent.” The GOV.UK page was published on 1 February 2018 and last updated on 29 August 2018; it says it predates the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 provisions that came into force on 6 April 2025. Read the operator’s current payment, identity-verification and withdrawal terms before putting money into an account. Check the available methods, any fees or limits the operator states, what verification may be required, and any conditions or timing attached to a withdrawal. Do not assume that a particular payment option or processing time is available; those details depend on the operator and can change.
Pay particular attention to whether a bonus or other offer changes withdrawal eligibility. A licence does not guarantee a win, an instant withdrawal or an absence of harm.
Which player controls and support options are available?
Check the actual operator’s current safer-gambling information before signing up. Look for the limits, time-outs and self-exclusion tools it provides, and make sure you can find its help and contact routes. Features differ between operators, so verify them on the service rather than assuming that a particular control is available.
