Choose a cloud streaming service based first on what you want to keep live: a live camera or encoder feed, or a channel built from prerecorded videos. The first needs reliable live ingest and reconnects; the second needs cloud playout, scheduling, and enough bandwidth to run unattended. Before paying, confirm your channel can livestream, check how long the stream and its archive can run, and verify the service’s limits and recovery terms against your actual workload.
Start with the source: live feed or prerecorded videos?
Live camera or encoder feed
If a camera, production setup, or encoder supplies the program, choose a service designed to receive and relay a live feed. Prioritize stable ingest, reconnect behavior, monitoring, and a tested backup at the source. A cloud relay can pass along the feed, but it cannot create a replacement program if your camera, encoder, or internet connection stops sending one.
Uploaded video library
If the channel should play existing videos continuously, look specifically for cloud playout: a service that stores or accepts your media and schedules it into a continuous YouTube live stream. Confirm playlist and scheduling options, media upload limits, storage, transitions, stream recovery, and whether the stream continues unattended under the plan you intend to buy. A general multistreaming studio is not automatically a cloud playout service.
Check YouTube eligibility and archive requirements
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days to get started. Live content must also comply with YouTube’s live-streaming requirements, including its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Check the channel’s status before subscribing, and do not try to evade a live restriction by switching to another channel.

Stream duration and archive retention are separate questions. Restream’s YouTube duration guidance says YouTube has no stream-duration limit but archives only streams shorter than 12 hours. Treat that as guidance from Restream’s help page, and confirm YouTube’s current rules for your account. If you need a complete recording, arrange a separate recording or archive workflow rather than assuming a continuous stream will be preserved as one YouTube archive.
Compare services by workflow, not by a generic “best” label
Vendor feature pages describe their own products; they do not establish an independent reliability ranking. These options serve different needs, so compare their current plan terms and test the workflow before leaving it unattended.

| StreamNeo | Cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos, with 24/7 looping and playlists. The same plan features apply at every quality up to 4K 60fps as uploaded, at one flat price per slot; the first day is free. | Confirm that an uploaded-video workflow matches your needs and that your files fit the included pooled storage across active slots. StreamNeo streams to YouTube only. |
| Castr | Castr’s product material describes a 24/7 cloud playout channel. Its help article says continuous duration is supported while the subscription remains active and there is enough streaming bandwidth. Its pricing page lists plan-dependent streams, destinations, bandwidth, storage, and features. | Check the selected plan’s current limits, what counts toward bandwidth, upload and file restrictions, recovery and failover behavior, SLA scope and exclusions, and total cost. Castr advertises a 99.9% uptime SLA on its pricing page; that is a vendor claim, not an independently verified comparative result. |
| Gyre | YouTube’s encoder guidance names Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 live streaming of prerecorded videos. This is a mention on a YouTube platform page, not an independent endorsement or comparison. | Verify current features, plan caps, archive behavior, support, recovery terms, and any relevant terms directly with the vendor; the cited YouTube page does not establish those details. |
| Restream | Its help material covers connecting to YouTube and stream-duration guidance; its plan explainer covers channel counts and features such as prerecorded streaming and recording. | Restream says its servers may undergo maintenance and restart during streams lasting more than 24 hours, and recommends restarting every 24 hours. Check its current plan matrix and whether that operating guidance suits an unattended continuous stream. |
| StreamYard | Its help material lists YouTube as a supported destination, and its pricing page describes studio, multistreaming, and prerecorded-streaming features with tier limits. | Verify that the plan’s prerecorded-stream allowance and studio workflow match your schedule. The reviewed materials do not establish StreamYard as an always-on cloud playout service. |
For a prerecorded-video channel, StreamNeo is the first option to consider: it runs uploaded videos from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. Castr and Gyre are other documented cloud-playout examples; Restream and StreamYard may fit particular relay or studio workflows, but their cited materials do not establish them as equivalent unattended playout services.
Use this checklist to choose a plan
- Define the source. For a live encoder feed, assess ingest stability, reconnect behavior, monitoring, and a source-side backup. For a library of videos, assess playlist scheduling, cloud playout, media preparation, and transitions.
- Confirm YouTube access. Verify the channel, check its live-streaming status, and review YouTube’s applicable content policies before buying.
- Plan for duration and recordings. Decide whether you need a continuous live stream, saved broadcasts, or both. Confirm current YouTube archive behavior and the service’s separate recording and storage provisions.
- Calculate your workload. Check bitrate, continuous hours, concurrent streams, destinations, storage, and any viewer/player bandwidth relevant to the plan. For example, Castr’s pricing page shows that bandwidth and stream allocations vary by tier; do not assume a plan covers your workload based on its headline feature list.
- Get recovery and support details in writing. Ask what happens after a source disconnect, cloud maintenance, exhausted bandwidth, payment failure, or scheduled restart. Check SLA scope, exclusions, and support response expectations.
- Test before going unattended. Run a private or unlisted stream through the intended schedule and deliberately test a failure or restart. Confirm that the service recovers as expected and that you can still monitor the channel.
- Compare total recurring cost. Include storage or recording, overages, additional channels or destinations, support, and annual-billing terms—not just a monthly headline price.
Cost and commitment: compare the whole operating period
Plan cost depends on the number of streams and destinations, bandwidth use, storage, and any recording or support requirements. Castr’s plan page lists allocations by tier, so match those against your actual usage before comparing prices. For Restream and StreamYard, check the current feature matrix for the tier that includes the exact workflow you need. Plan limits and prices can change; verify the live pricing pages before subscribing, and compare the billing period as well as the monthly equivalent.

Or let it run in the cloud
For a prerecorded-video channel, StreamNeo’s workflow is three steps: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps the stream running without a computer, OBS, or home connection left on. Your video streams as uploaded, at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one price per slot; if YouTube drops the stream, StreamNeo automatically recovers. The first day is free with no card required. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube only. Start at StreamNeo’s free trial.

Common problems to prevent
- The service stops or cannot start the stream: check YouTube channel verification and restrictions first, then confirm the stream key and destination connection.
- The stream is interrupted after a long run: ask whether the service performs maintenance or requires scheduled restarts. Restream’s help guidance recommends restarting every 24 hours because maintenance may restart servers during streams lasting more than 24 hours.
- The stream or recording exceeds plan capacity: compare bitrate, continuous runtime, concurrent streams, storage, and bandwidth against the selected tier; ask how overages or exhausted limits are handled.
- The stream continues but no complete archive appears: duration and archive behavior differ. Restream’s cited guidance says YouTube archives only streams shorter than 12 hours, so use a separate recording plan if you need a complete recording.
- A studio tool does not provide unattended playout: distinguish a prerecorded-streaming feature inside a studio workflow from a service explicitly offering continuous cloud playout, and verify the exact schedule and unattended operation on your plan.
