There is no well-supported, universal “best build”: class tuning and Stigma options change, and the official material does not provide a current complete rotation or gear setup for every class and mode.
How do I choose a class in AION 2?
Start with four questions: Do you want melee or ranged combat? Would you rather protect, heal, support, or deal damage? Do you enjoy broad attacks, precision, burst, or combo-driven combat? Will you mostly play alone, in a group, in PvE, or in PvP? These are practical ways to use NCSOFT’s class descriptions, not official rankings or limits on what a class can do.
| What you prefer | Officially described examples | What that choice tends to mean for your play |
|---|---|---|
| Protect the group | Templar is described as the core tank. | Look for a front-line role centered on survivability and group protection. |
| Flexible support | Chanter is described as versatile support; Cleric’s damage capability was also highlighted. | Consider these descriptions if you want a support identity rather than damage alone. |
| Wide melee attacks | Gladiator is described with powerful wide-area skills. | Suitable to investigate if you enjoy hitting multiple targets at close range. |
| Precision melee | Assassin is described as a precision melee class. | Consider it if you prefer focused close-range combat over broad attacks. |
| Ranged scouting | The June 2025 overview uses “Marksman”; later official material uses “Ranger.” | Check the localized client’s class names and descriptions before deciding. |
| Burst magic | Sorcerer is described as high-burst magic. | Consider it if you want a magic-focused damage style. |
| Solo-oriented magic | The June 2025 overview uses “Spiritmaster”; the March 2026 announcement uses “Elementalist.” | Verify which name and description appear in your client; the announcements do not settle every region’s naming. |
| Combo-driven front line | Brawler uses Gauntlet attacks and combo charges that build Rage toward Rampage. | Consider it if building a resource through combos sounds more appealing than a simpler attack rhythm. |
These are broad identity cues, not claims about current damage, survivability, or which class is strongest. NCSOFT’s June 2025 overview introduced eight playable classes, while its March 2026 overhaul also names eight but uses some different localized labels. See the June 2025 class overview and March 2026 class overhaul for the dated descriptions.
Which AION 2 class fits my playstyle?
If you want to fight on the front line
Compare the role you want within melee combat. Templar is the clearest fit in the official descriptions for a player who wants to tank. Gladiator is described around powerful wide-area attacks, while Assassin emphasizes precision. Brawler adds a combo-and-resource rhythm: NCSOFT describes Gauntlet attacks and combo charges that build Rage toward Rampage.

If you prefer ranged or magic combat
Use the official descriptions as starting points: Marksman/Ranger for ranged scouting, Sorcerer for burst magic, and Spiritmaster/Elementalist for the solo-oriented magic label in the respective announcements. Since those class names differ between the 2025 and 2026 material, confirm the class name and skill descriptions in the client you use.
If group utility matters most
Templar’s tank identity and Chanter’s versatile-support description point toward group roles. The 2025 overview also called out Cleric’s improved damage capability, a reminder that a support-oriented label does not necessarily mean damage is absent. These role descriptions do not establish current numerical performance or how a class fares in a particular activity.

What build should I use for solo PvE, group PvE, or PvP?
Decide the activity before copying a skill setup. NCSOFT describes solo and group dungeons, and later announced that PvP and PvE damage calculations were separated. A recommendation for one mode should not automatically be treated as optimal in another.
| Activity | How to evaluate a build | What the official material establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Solo PvE | Choose around the class feel and solo activity you expect to play; check the current skill text for the localized client. | The 2025 overview described solo dungeons and identified a solo-oriented magic class, but it does not provide a current complete solo build. |
| Group PvE | Decide whether you want to tank, support, or focus on damage, then assess skills for the group content you run. | Official descriptions identify tank and support roles and discuss group dungeons; they do not establish a best-in-slot setup. |
| PvP | Use PvP-specific skill information and current patch notes rather than assuming a PvE setup carries over. | NCSOFT says PvP and PvE damage calculations were separated; its announcements cover distinct PvP content. |
Before settling on a build, verify your region and client, the date of the skill or Stigma information, and whether the advice is for PvE or PvP. The official update pages show why dated context matters: the March 25, 2026 overhaul added a Stigma skill for each of eight classes and expanded the maximum number of Stigma slots to five; the January 21, 2026 update also documented combat changes. The reviewed announcements do not establish that every change applies identically to every localized client.

How to choose and check a build
- Identify your version. Note the region and client you play, and check that a build’s class name and patch date match them.
- Choose the activity. Decide whether you want solo PvE, group PvE, or PvP before selecting skills.
- Match the role and rhythm. Decide whether you want to tank, support, or deal damage, and whether you enjoy broad attacks, precision, ranged combat, burst, or combo-driven play.
- Read current in-game skill text. Confirm what each skill and Stigma does in your client instead of relying on an undated list.
- Check the relevant patch notes. Look for class rebalances and newly added or changed Stigma options before following older advice.
The available official sources do not establish a current, complete set of rotations, stat priorities, gear priorities, or best-in-slot builds for every class and activity. Treat exact build claims without matching patch and mode details cautiously. For Brawler specifically, NCSOFT’s July 6, 2026 announcement described a level 50 cap and Stigma enhancement up to level 25 in that update’s context; those figures should not be read as timeless rules for every client. See the July 6, 2026 update announcement.

The descriptions help narrow the choice by role and feel, but they are not a tier list and do not prove which class performs best after later balance changes. Likewise, the early announcement’s scale figures—more than 200 dungeons and a world over 36 times the original game’s scale—describe that June 2025 announcement, not verified current live totals. NCSOFT’s planned global-release announcement described a PC release, but platform or release plans alone do not determine which class or build suits a player. Read the dated 2025 overview and April 22, 2026 global-release announcement in their stated context.
