Sign in to the Steam account you used to reserve Steam Frame, then open the official Steam Frame product page. The page displays your account-specific expected order window. Valve currently shows either that your purchase email should arrive by December 2026 or that it should arrive sometime in 2027; it does not show a guaranteed delivery day or a public queue number.
If Valve sends a purchase email, the checkout link is valid for 72 hours. Missing that deadline releases the opportunity to the next person in the applicable queue.
Check your Steam Frame status in four steps
- Use the correct Steam account. Sign out of other Steam accounts and sign in to the account used for the Steam Frame signup. The reservation is tied to that account, not merely to an email address or device.
- Open the official product page. Go to store.steampowered.com/hardware/steamframe while logged in.
- Read the expected order window shown for your account. Valve’s October 9, 2026 update says the page identifies whether your purchase email is expected by December 2026 or in 2027.
- Watch the account email for the purchase invitation. The status page is the authoritative place to check the window; an email is the event that starts your 72-hour purchase period.
There is no separate public tracker where you enter a reservation number. Valve describes an expected window rather than an ordinal position such as “number 4,218.” If your page shows a 2027 window, Valve says more detailed timing information will be provided by January 2027.

“By December 2026”
This means Valve places your account in the group expected to receive a purchase email no later than December 2026, according to the currently published window. It is an email target, not a promise that the headset will be delivered by a particular day in December. You still need to complete checkout after the invitation arrives.

“In 2027”
This identifies the later group of customers. Valve has not published a day or month for every account in that group. The company says it will provide more detailed timing information by January 2027. Until that update appears, the page’s 2027 designation is the most specific availability information available for your account.
No numerical queue position
Valve has not published an individual queue number, total reservation count, total units, or conversion rate. A window can therefore change without giving you a way to calculate how many people are ahead of you. Treat the displayed window as a planning estimate supplied by Valve, not as a delivery guarantee.
Reservation queue versus waitlist
The wording matters because the two statuses represent different levels of access to a unit. Valve randomized eligible signups and assigned places separately by model and shipping region.

Valve’s FAQ explains that a waitlist result means your randomized place ended up beyond the number of Steam Frame units available to reserve initially. It is not a cancellation of your signup. It remains an applicable place that may move forward if the queue is exhausted or spots become available.

- September 14, 2026: Steam Frame signups opened.
- September 17, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific: Signups closed and Valve performed the one-time randomization. Signups after the cutoff went to the back of the waitlist.
- September 18, 2026: Valve began fulfilling reservation orders.
- October 9, 2026: Valve announced that account holders could view their expected order window directly on the product page.
Eligibility required a Steam account in good standing, at least one Steam purchase made before April 27, 2026, and one signup per household. These requirements applied to the original signup process; creating another account now does not create a second place in the original randomized allocation.
How model selection affects your place
During signup, customers chose one of two model lists: Steam Frame 256GB or Steam Frame 1TB. Valve randomized those lists independently within the applicable shipping regions. Your status therefore reflects both the capacity for your chosen storage model and the region to which it must ship.

You cannot switch models after randomization
Valve says the model cannot be changed once randomization has occurred and the status email has been sent. If you no longer want the selected model, canceling releases that place; it does not convert the reservation into the other model’s queue. A new reservation is not created by canceling.
Why two household members may not receive equivalent results
The one-signup-per-household rule and separate model lists mean that an account’s result is not transferable. A household cannot combine or trade places between accounts, models, or regions through the status page.
What to do when your purchase email arrives
- Confirm that you are using the reserving account. Open the link while signed in to the Steam account associated with the invitation. If Steam asks you to sign in, do not assume a different account is eligible just because the email was forwarded.
- Check the model and shipping destination. The invitation corresponds to the model and regional queue selected at signup. Review the order details before paying.
- Complete checkout within 72 hours. Valve states that the purchase must be completed within this window or the company will move to the next person in line. The countdown is tied to the purchase email, not to the date you first viewed the status page.
- Review optional accessories during checkout. Valve lists a 45W power supply with a 2.5-meter cable, an Ergonomic Accessories Kit, and an Accessory Replacement Kit as first-party add-to-cart options for customers who receive a purchase email. They are checkout-only options rather than items that can be added from the public reservation page.
- Save the order confirmation. Keep the confirmation email and order details until fulfillment is complete. If checkout fails, use Steam Support while the 72-hour period is still running rather than waiting for the deadline.
The 72-hour rule is strict in Valve’s published instructions. If the link expires, the place is offered to the next person; there is no stated grace period or automatic restoration of the original spot.

How to interpret “preorder availability date”
Steam Frame does not currently have a single public preorder date that applies to every customer. The account page gives an expected order-email window, and the window depends on queue assignment. The practical sequence is:
- Your account is assigned to a randomized model and regional queue.
- Valve displays an expected window on the product page.
- Valve sends a purchase email when your place is reached.
- You have 72 hours to place the order.
- Delivery timing follows the completed purchase and shipping region.
Do not treat the month in the window as a guaranteed arrival month. Valve’s wording concerns when the purchase email should arrive. A 2027 status also does not mean a fixed January 1, 2027 shipment; it means the more detailed timing is still pending, with an update promised by January.
Shipping regions and distribution
Valve maintains separate queues for North America, the United Kingdom and European Union, and Australia. Steam-direct shipping is listed for the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and Australia.
For Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, Valve names KOMODO as the authorized distributor. South Korea was described as receiving shipping later. These arrangements affect which regional list you joined and when inventory can be offered to your account. A reservation in one region cannot be assumed to move to another region simply because stock appears there.
When checking your status, use the country and shipping address associated with the original signup. If you have moved, verify what Valve allows during checkout rather than assuming a regional queue transfer is possible; the published signup information does not promise cross-region transfers.

Steam Frame models, launch prices, and hardware context
Valve describes Steam Frame as a wireless VR headset with controllers that supports both VR and non-VR play. It can stream from the Steam library and also supports standalone use. Steam Support says the included plug-and-play 6GHz wireless adapter provides a dedicated link for VR and non-VR streaming; the headset, adapter, and controllers have status LEDs.

These are the launch prices listed in Valve’s October 2026 announcement. Prices include VAT where applicable. The currency shown at checkout depends on the shipping region and account location, and the table does not establish a future sale price or a shipping-charge policy.
The storage model is fixed by the reservation assignment. Compare the two prices before the email arrives so that you can decide quickly within the 72-hour window; waiting until the deadline to research the difference risks losing the invitation.

The page shows a generic product page
Confirm that you are signed in before opening the product page. Sign out of every Steam account in the browser, close old tabs, sign in to the account used for signup, and reopen the page. A private browser window can help isolate an account-session problem.

Check the account’s email history for the original signup confirmation and status message. If there is no record, verify that the signup used this account rather than a family member’s account. The original eligibility rules included a purchase before April 27, 2026, good account standing, and one signup per household; an account that did not meet those conditions would not receive a randomized reservation.

Your status says waitlist
That is a valid outcome, not a page error. It means your randomized place was beyond the initial units available to reserve. Keep monitoring the product page and the account email; advancement depends on cancellations or additional units in the same model and regional queue.
You received an email but the link fails
Open the message in the original mailbox, sign in to the correct Steam account, and try the link in a current browser. Check the timestamp to determine how much of the 72-hour period remains. If the issue persists, contact Steam Support immediately and include the order email; do not wait until the final hours.
Your model or region appears wrong
Review the signup confirmation and status email. Valve says the model cannot be changed after randomization, and the queues are regional. If the displayed assignment does not match your records, document the discrepancy and contact Steam Support; canceling on your own releases the place.
Practical checklist while you wait
- Bookmark the official Steam Frame product page and check it while signed in.
- Keep access to the email address attached to the reserving Steam account.
- Enable notifications for Steam messages so a purchase invitation is not overlooked.
- Decide whether the 256GB or 1TB price fits your budget before an invitation arrives; the assigned model cannot be swapped after randomization.
- Prepare a shipping address in the same region as the reservation.
- When the email arrives, start checkout promptly and finish before 72 hours elapse.
- Do not pay a third party for a queue position; the reservation is tied to the original Steam account and is not described as transferable.
What is known—and what is not
Valve has publicly specified the signup dates, eligibility rules, model choices, regional queues, expected email windows, and 72-hour checkout limit. It has not publicly specified each customer’s ordinal queue number, the total size of every queue, the total number of units, or a conversion rate from reservation to completed order. Those missing figures make it impossible to calculate an exact personal date from public information.
For the most reliable answer, rely on the account-specific window shown on the product page and the purchase email when it arrives. If your account is in the 2027 group, the next material update is Valve’s promised more detailed timing information by January 2027.
