For financial year 2025–26, Railway Board Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) is paid through the same channel as salary. Start with the salary slip for the month your unit processed the payment: look in Earnings for “PLB,” “Productivity Linked Bonus,” “productivity bonus,” “bonus,” or a local abbreviation. It may appear as a separate earning, an arrear, or a special payment. Then sign in to Indian Railways HRMS at https://hrms.indian.rail.gov.in/HRMS/login and review your salary data. If no clear line appears, compare the slip’s gross and net totals with the bank credit or payroll advice rather than assuming that the bonus was not paid.

The 2025–26 order provides 78 days’ wages for eligible non-gazetted Railway employees, excludes RPF/RPSF personnel, and uses ₹7,000 as the wage ceiling when actual wages are higher. The order’s ₹17,951 figure applies to employees meeting its stated conditions; it is not an automatic amount for everyone.

What Railway PLB is and which rule applies

Productivity Linked Bonus is the Railway Board’s annual bonus for eligible employees. The applicable rule depends on the financial year, not simply on the date printed on your payslip. For financial year 2025–26, Railway Board order RBE No. 84/2026, dated 14 October 2026, sanctions PLB equal to 78 days’ wages for eligible non-gazetted Railway employees. RPF and RPSF personnel are excluded under that order.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Where an employee’s wages exceed ₹7,000 per month, the calculation treats wages as ₹7,000. The order also sets out conditions concerning service, suspension, retirement, death and leave. Employees who satisfy the stated fully eligible conditions may receive ₹17,951 for 2025–26; employees with different qualifying circumstances are calculated under the standing instructions.

The order requires payment in the same mode as salary. In practical terms, a unit may include PLB with a regular salary credit, post it in a separate payroll run that uses the salary-payment channel, or display it as an arrear or special earning. The order does not prescribe one payslip label or one universal HRMS tile, so local presentation can differ.

For context, the Railway Board’s 2024–25 circular also used 78 days and cited ₹17,951 for the stated fully eligible cases. A 2025 Ministry of Railways/Press Information Bureau announcement reported an outlay of ₹1,865.68 crore for 1,091,146 employees, with ₹17,951 described as the maximum per eligible employee for that announcement. Those figures describe the cited year and conditions; they do not turn ₹17,951 into a standard amount for every employee in every year.

Gather the records before you start

Checking the right records prevents most apparent discrepancies. Keep the following together:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • The Railway Board PLB order for the financial year in question.
  • The salary slip or payroll statement for the month in which your unit processed the payment.
  • Your bank statement, salary-credit notification or payroll advice for that payment period.
  • Your employee category and relevant service, leave, retirement or suspension information.
  • Your HRMS login details and any previous salary-data correction request.

First identify the financial year covered by the order. A payment made in a later calendar month can still relate to the preceding financial year. Next ask your unit, or inspect payroll notices, for the processing month. Searching only the month in which you expected the money can miss a payment posted as an arrear or bundled with another salary run.

Find PLB on a Railway salary slip

  1. Open the correct month. Select the statement for the month your Railway unit processed the PLB, not necessarily the month you first heard about the order.
  2. Go to Earnings. Search for “PLB,” “Productivity Linked Bonus,” “productivity bonus,” “bonus,” or a local abbreviation. Some systems use a longer description, while others use a short payroll code.
  3. Check separate and bundled entries. The amount may be a standalone earning, an arrear, or a special-payment line. If the slip has multiple pages, inspect every earnings and arrears section.
  4. Compare gross and net. Record the gross total before deductions, the net amount payable, and the actual bank credit. A bank credit can be lower than the gross PLB when payroll deductions or adjustments are applied.
  5. Read the deductions section. Note tax, recoveries, provident-fund or other deductions shown on that same statement. Do not treat the bank credit as the unadjusted PLB amount.
  6. Match the payment advice. If a payroll advice or office notice accompanies the credit, compare its payment date and amount with the slip. A separate credit can still be part of the salary-mode disbursement required by the order.

There is no single nationally mandated payslip field name for PLB in the published orders. Therefore, an unfamiliar description is not proof of an error, and the absence of the letters “PLB” is not proof that no payment was made. When the line is unclear, retain the statement and ask the unit’s ERB/payroll office to identify the transaction.

How to interpret the amount shown

Use the following checks without assuming that every employee should see the same figure.

Check What the 2025–26 order says How to use it
Employee group Eligible non-gazetted Railway employees; RPF/RPSF personnel are excluded. Confirm your category before comparing an amount with a colleague’s.
Rate 78 days’ wages. Use the order for the relevant financial year rather than a previous year’s notice.
Wage ceiling Wages above ₹7,000 per month are treated as ₹7,000 for calculation. Check that the ceiling was applied where your wages exceeded it.
Stated fully eligible amount ₹17,951 for employees meeting the order’s specified conditions. Do not treat this as a universal entitlement or a guaranteed net bank credit.
Payment channel The same mode as salary. Look for a salary-linked credit, arrear or special-payment entry and confirm with payroll if the label is unclear.

The ₹17,951 amount is tied to the order’s stated service and other qualifying conditions. Employees with different service, leave, retirement, death or other statuses can have an amount calculated under the standing instructions. A deduction can also make the net amount on a slip or bank statement differ from the applicable gross PLB.

Check Railway PLB in Indian Railways HRMS

  1. Open the official portal. Go to https://hrms.indian.rail.gov.in/HRMS/login. The Railway Board procedure also identifies an official HRMS Android app route; use the app distributed through your authorised Railway channels if your unit directs you to it.
  2. Sign in with your HRMS credentials. Complete the portal’s current authentication steps. Menu names can vary by local deployment and user role.
  3. Review salary and service data. Open the salary, pay or related service-information area available in your account. Look for the payment month, earnings, arrears or other salary transaction that corresponds to the PLB.
  4. Check the underlying employee data. Verify the service record, category and salary details used for payroll. The Railway Board procedure tells staff to check the data entered in HRMS and to report errors.
  5. Submit a correction request when needed. Use the available edit/change/update request function if a salary or service field is wrong or missing. Save the request number or acknowledgement.
  6. Escalate through the correct office. Non-gazetted staff should bring salary-data errors to the responsible ERB section. Gazetted officers should contact their PAO unit.

Some deployments do not display a dedicated PLB tile. If you cannot find one, inspect salary and pay details and use the payroll office’s advice to match the transaction. The published procedure does not provide one universal menu path for every Railway unit, so a different label or screen is expected.

Compare a salary slip, HRMS and bank credit

When two records do not appear to agree, compare them field by field instead of comparing only the final rupee figure.

Comparison point Question to answer Why it matters
Financial year/order Does each record relate to 2025–26, or to another year? PLB rates and conditions are issued by financial year.
Payment month Which month did the unit process the payment? A later or separate salary run may contain the entry.
Gross versus net Are you comparing the gross earning with a net bank credit? Deductions can reduce the credited amount.
Entry type Is it a separate earning, arrear or bundled salary item? Local payroll presentation is not standardised.
Eligibility category Are you an eligible non-gazetted employee, and are you outside RPF/RPSF? The order excludes some categories.
Wage ceiling Was ₹7,000 used where wages exceeded that amount? The ceiling affects the calculation base.
Deductions What tax or other recoveries appear on the slip? The bank amount may not equal gross PLB.

For example, an HRMS record may show a gross special earning while the bank statement shows only the net amount after deductions. Conversely, a bank credit may be combined with regular salary, making the PLB invisible until you compare the month’s gross and net totals with the prior salary statement and payroll advice.

Verify eligibility before reporting a missing payment

Use the order for the correct financial year and check each condition that applies to you:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • You belong to the eligible non-gazetted Railway employee group.
  • You are not RPF or RPSF personnel covered by the exclusion.
  • Your service, suspension, retirement, death and leave status meets the order’s relevant conditions.
  • The calculation uses the ₹7,000 wage ceiling when your wages are higher.
  • You are comparing the correct payment month and not a different year’s PLB.

Do not use a colleague’s payment as the sole benchmark. Different qualifying conditions can produce different amounts, and the ₹17,951 figure is limited to the order’s specified fully eligible cases. The published order does not establish that every employee receives that amount as a net credit.

What to do when the PLB is missing or wrong

  1. Preserve evidence. Save the relevant salary slip, bank-credit or payment advice, and the Railway Board order for the financial year.
  2. Recheck the period. Confirm the financial year and ask which month the unit used for processing. Look for an arrear or separate salary-mode run.
  3. Recheck eligibility. Verify category, RPF/RPSF exclusion, wage ceiling and service or leave conditions.
  4. Check both gross and net. A deduction or adjustment can explain why the bank credit is lower than the earning shown on the slip.
  5. Inspect HRMS. Review salary and service data and submit an edit/change/update request for an incorrect field.
  6. Contact the responsible office. Non-gazetted employees should contact the ERB section responsible for their records. Gazetted officers should contact the PAO unit.
  7. Ask payroll to trace the transaction. Request confirmation of whether the PLB was bundled with salary, posted as arrears or processed in another pay month, and ask which payslip description identifies it.

Include your employee identifier, financial year, payment month, slip number, date and amount of the bank credit, and a concise description of the mismatch. Send copies through your unit’s authorised channel and keep the acknowledgement. Do not alter a salary statement yourself; the payroll or HRMS authority must correct the source record.

Who fixes a salary-data error?

The Railway Board HRMS procedure assigns different points of contact by employee status. For non-gazetted staff, salary-data errors should be brought to the respective ERB section. For gazetted officers, the PAO unit is the responsible route. HRMS can carry the edit/change/update request, but the office that maintains the underlying service or payroll record must validate and correct it.

“Disbursement of Productivity Linked Bonus for the financial year 2025-26 to all eligible non-gazetted Railway employees mentioned in Para 1 above should be made in the same mode as payment of salary.”

A worked checking example

Suppose a non-gazetted employee expects the 2025–26 PLB. The employee first confirms that the category is not RPF/RPSF and that the relevant service conditions are satisfied. The employee then identifies the month announced by the unit as the processing month, opens that salary slip and searches Earnings and Arrears for a PLB, productivity bonus, bonus or local code.

If the slip shows a special earning but the bank credit is smaller, the employee records the gross earning, checks deductions and compares the net payable with the bank statement. If the slip has no recognisable label, the employee compares the month’s gross and net totals with the prior month and asks payroll whether the amount was bundled into salary or posted as an arrear.

The employee next signs in to HRMS, reviews salary details and checks that the service and pay data are correct. A missing or incorrect field is reported through the edit/change/update route. If the employee is non-gazetted, the request is also taken to the responsible ERB section; a gazetted employee takes it to the PAO unit. This sequence separates a display-label issue from an eligibility, calculation or payment problem.

Key points to keep with your records

  • For 2025–26, the sanctioned rate is 78 days’ wages for eligible non-gazetted Railway employees, with RPF/RPSF excluded.
  • Wages above ₹7,000 are capped at ₹7,000 for the calculation.
  • ₹17,951 applies to the order’s stated fully eligible cases, not automatically to every employee and not necessarily as a net bank credit.
  • PLB is paid through the same mode as salary, but the payslip label and HRMS screen can vary by local payroll deployment.
  • Use the salary slip, payroll advice, bank credit and HRMS record together; compare financial year, payment month, gross versus net, entry type, eligibility, ceiling and deductions.
  • Use HRMS to review salary data and submit an edit/change/update request. ERB sections handle non-gazetted corrections; PAO units handle gazetted officers.
