For the planned Windows release of Castlebound, your PC needs at least Windows 10, an Intel Core i3 running at 3.2 GHz, 8 GB of RAM, and 1,000 MB (about 1 GB) of free storage. Those are the complete minimums currently shown on the official Steam listing. Steam lists the full game as not yet available, with a planned release date of 11 November 2026. No GPU requirement, recommended specification, resolution, frame-rate target, or benchmark has been published, so meeting the listed minimums does not guarantee a particular visual quality or frame rate.

Castlebound PC requirements at a glance

The following table reproduces the minimum Windows specifications currently published for the full game by Ogre Pixel on its official Steam listing.

Component Published minimum What you must verify
Operating system Windows 10 Your installed Windows edition and version
Processor Intel Core i3 at 3.2 GHz Your processor model and stated clock speed
Memory 8 GB RAM Total installed system memory
Storage 1,000 MB available (about 1 GB) Free space on the drive Steam will use
Graphics hardware Not stated No official GPU comparison is possible yet
Recommended settings Not stated No official recommendation for resolution, quality, or frame rate

The figures are minimum entry requirements, not a performance promise. A computer that meets every published field reaches the stated minimum specification, but the listing does not say what frame rate, graphics preset, or resolution that minimum is intended to deliver.

What Castlebound is and when you can play it

Steam describes Castlebound as a roguelike action game in which you and your allies defend a walking castle against waves of monstrous enemies. The listing includes solo and co-op play and supports controllers. Steam currently marks the full game as unavailable and gives 11 November 2026 as the planned release date. A planned date can change, and hardware information can be revised before launch, so check the live listing again when the release build is available.

The requirements above apply to the full game. They should not be confused with the separate demo listing, which has lower published memory and storage figures.

How to check your Windows version

Windows 10 is the only operating-system minimum currently stated for the full Windows version. Follow these steps on the PC where you intend to install the game:

  1. Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog.
  2. Type winver and press Enter.
  3. Read the dialog’s Windows edition and version. It should identify Windows 10 or a later Windows release.
  4. Close the dialog after recording the result.

You can also open Settings > System > About and read Windows specifications. Record the edition and version rather than relying only on a label such as “Windows.” The official requirement names Windows 10; it does not list a specific update number, 32-bit or 64-bit edition, or a separate Windows 11 requirement.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If your PC is older than Windows 10

A computer running Windows 7 or Windows 8 does not satisfy the published operating-system minimum. Upgrading the operating system may be impossible on hardware that lacks required security features or supported drivers, so confirm that the PC itself supports a supported Windows release before planning an upgrade. Do not treat an unofficial compatibility workaround as proof that the game will run.

How to check your processor

The minimum processor entry is an Intel Core i3 with a stated clock speed of 3.2 GHz. “Core i3” covers many generations and designs, so the model name matters; a generic label such as “Intel processor” is not enough for a useful comparison.

  1. Right-click the taskbar and choose Task Manager.
  2. Open the Performance tab and select CPU.
  3. Record the processor name shown at the top-right and the speed information shown in the panel.

Another route is Settings > System > About, where Windows shows the processor model. For a more detailed readout, press Windows key + R, enter dxdiag, and inspect the System tab. Keep the exact model string, including any generation or suffix, because two processors carrying the Core i3 name can have very different capabilities.

Understanding the 3.2 GHz figure

Clock speed is measured in gigahertz and describes a processor’s operating frequency, but it is not a complete measure of performance. Modern CPUs can change speed depending on load, temperature, power settings, and whether the number shown is a base or boost value. The listing does not explain which interpretation it uses, nor does it identify a particular Core i3 generation. Treat 3.2 GHz as the published reference point, not as a guarantee that any CPU at that number will perform identically.

  • NON-ECC Unbuffered | 1Rx8 or 2Rx8 - Single or Dual Rank | JEDEC DDR4 standard 1.2V

If your processor is a Core i3 listed at 3.2 GHz or faster, you match the wording of the published minimum more closely than a processor below that figure. If your model is a different Intel family, an AMD processor, or an ARM-based Windows device, the official page does not provide an equivalence rule. You can record the model for comparison, but there is no official pass/fail conversion to apply yet.

How to check installed RAM

The full game requires 8 GB of system memory at minimum. To see how much is installed:

  1. Open Settings > System > About.
  2. Find Installed RAM and record the value.
  3. For a live view of memory use, open Task Manager > Performance > Memory.

A machine showing 8 GB installed reaches the stated memory minimum. Windows and background programs also use RAM, so the amount marked “available” while the game is running will be lower than the installed total. The official listing does not publish a separate recommendation for systems running browsers, voice chat, recording software, or other applications at the same time.

What to do with a 4 GB or 6 GB result

Four or 6 GB is below the full game’s published minimum. Closing applications cannot change the installed amount; it only frees some of what is already present. If you upgrade, verify the motherboard’s supported DDR generation, module form factor, maximum capacity, and available slots before buying memory. A compatible 8 GB total is the target indicated by the listing, but adding a mismatched module can prevent a system from booting or force slower operation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How to check free storage

The requirement is 1,000 MB of available storage, approximately 1 GB, on the drive where Steam installs the game. The relevant number is free space, not the drive’s total capacity.

  1. Open File Explorer and select This PC.
  2. Find the drive you plan to use for the Steam library, usually shown with a drive letter such as C: or D:.
  3. Read the free-space figure beneath the drive bar, or right-click the drive, choose Properties, and read Free space.
  4. Compare that number with 1,000 MB. Leave additional room for Windows, updates, shader caches, save files, and other software rather than filling a drive to its limit.

Steam can use a different library drive from the one containing Windows. Check the exact library location in Steam’s storage manager before deciding that the PC has enough room. The official figure is a minimum installation allowance; it does not state the game’s eventual download size, patch size, or additional space needed during updates.

If storage is the limiting component

Removing unused files or choosing another drive can resolve a storage shortfall. A 1 TB internal SSD provides substantial space for a game library, but the correct interface and physical format depend on the PC. Confirm compatibility before purchasing or moving a Steam library. Storage capacity does not improve an otherwise insufficient CPU, RAM, or graphics solution.

Do you need a gaming GPU?

The current official listing does not name a graphics card, integrated-graphics model, graphics API, video-memory amount, target resolution, quality preset, or frame-rate target. Consequently, there is no official way to say that a particular GPU will deliver 30, 60, or any other frame rate.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not infer a GPU requirement from the game’s visual style or from the CPU and RAM figures. A modern integrated GPU might be adequate, or the release build might depend on features that are not documented yet; the available specification does not settle that question. Third-party “Can I run it?” calculators are estimates unless they cite a later official requirements update or measurements from the released build.

When an official GPU line is added, compare your graphics adapter in Settings > System > Display > Advanced display or in Task Manager > Performance > GPU. Until then, mark the graphics field as unknown rather than treating it as a pass.

Full game versus Castlebound Demo requirements

The separate official demo listing gives different minimums. It reports 4 GB of RAM and 1 GB of storage for Windows, macOS, and SteamOS/Linux. Those figures describe the demo only and must not replace the full game’s Windows minimum of 8 GB RAM and 1,000 MB storage.

Version or platform entry RAM shown Storage shown CPU and operating-system details
Full game, Windows 8 GB minimum 1,000 MB minimum Windows 10 and Intel Core i3 at 3.2 GHz are listed
Demo, Windows 4 GB minimum 1 GB minimum Demo listing’s separate requirements; do not use them for the full release
Demo, macOS 4 GB minimum 1 GB minimum Demo listing’s separate requirements
Demo, SteamOS/Linux 4 GB minimum 1 GB minimum Demo listing’s separate requirements
Full-game macOS row 8 GB minimum 1,000 MB minimum CPU and operating-system details are not shown on the checked page
Full-game SteamOS/Linux row 8 GB minimum 1,000 MB minimum CPU and operating-system details are not shown on the checked page

A demo that launches on 4 GB does not demonstrate that the full game will run on the same computer. Use the requirements for the exact product entry you intend to play.

Run the complete comparison on your PC

Record your results in one place, then compare each field with the full Windows minimum. This avoids overlooking a single shortfall.

Check Your result Published full-game minimum Assessment
Windows version Write the edition and version from winver Windows 10 Meets, exceeds, or falls below
CPU model and speed Write the complete model and stated speed Intel Core i3 at 3.2 GHz Matches wording, is unclear, or falls below
Installed RAM Write the installed total 8 GB Meets or falls below
Free installation space Write free space on the selected Steam drive 1,000 MB Meets or falls below
GPU Record it for future reference Not published Cannot be scored officially yet

Three useful outcomes

  • All published fields meet the minimum: Your PC reaches the documented entry specification. Performance remains unconfirmed because graphics and benchmark information are missing.
  • One or more fields are below minimum: The PC does not meet the official minimum as written. Upgrade the limiting component only after checking hardware compatibility, or use a different computer.
  • Your hardware details are unclear: Keep the exact CPU model, Windows version, RAM total, drive letter, and free-space figure. Generic descriptions are not enough for a reliable comparison.

Comparing two PCs for Castlebound

If you are choosing between computers, compare the same five axes rather than relying on a single “gaming” label:

Rank #4
A-Tech DDR4 RAM 8GB 3200MHz PC4-25600 SODIMM Laptop Memory
  • A-Tech 8GB RAM Module, DDR4 SO-DIMM 260-Pin, 3200MHz PC4-25600 (PC4-3200AA)
  • Non-ECC Unbuffered, JEDEC DDR4 Standard 1.2V Operating Voltage
  • Compatible with select Laptop, Notebook, Mini PC, and All-in-One (AIO) systems. Please verify your system's memory type, form factor, and maximum supported capacity before purchasing
  • Not compatible with desktop DIMM, non DDR4 memory, or ECC memory types such as RDIMM, LRDIMM, and ECC UDIMM
  • Increases available memory capacity to enhance system responsiveness, application performance, and multitasking capabilities.
  1. Windows version: Confirm that each machine runs Windows 10 or a later supported release.
  2. CPU model and clock: Record the complete processor name and its stated speed. The published reference is an Intel Core i3 at 3.2 GHz.
  3. Installed RAM: Prefer the machine with at least 8 GB, while remembering that the listing gives no recommended amount for multitasking.
  4. Free storage: Check the drive that will host the Steam library, not merely the computer’s total capacity.
  5. GPU: Record both adapters if the PC has integrated and discrete graphics, but leave the official performance score unresolved until a GPU requirement or benchmark is published.

A computer with more storage is not automatically the better Castlebound system if it has less RAM or a weaker processor. Conversely, a machine that clears the CPU and memory entries still has an unknown graphics outcome under the current documentation.

What the published minimums do not promise

Minimum specifications generally identify the lowest configuration the developer intends to support; they do not define a guaranteed experience. For Castlebound, the uncertainty is especially important because the official page currently omits:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • A GPU model, graphics-memory requirement, or integrated-graphics policy.
  • A recommended CPU, RAM amount, or storage allowance.
  • A target resolution or graphics preset.
  • A target frame rate or measured benchmark.
  • The exact Windows update level and whether any special runtime or driver version is required.

Until those details appear, avoid promises such as “this will run at 60 fps” or “any computer with 8 GB will run it smoothly.” A qualifying PC may still need lower settings, updated drivers, or additional troubleshooting after launch.

Preparing before the planned release

Because Steam currently marks the full game as not yet available, you can use the waiting period to document and improve the PC without assuming that an upgrade is necessary.

  • Write down the Windows version, CPU model, RAM total, GPU model, and free space on the intended Steam drive.
  • Install pending Windows updates and obtain current graphics drivers from the hardware manufacturer when the game approaches release.
  • Keep substantially more than 1 GB free so installation, updates, and temporary files do not fail at the boundary.
  • If RAM is below 8 GB, check the motherboard’s memory type, slot count, and maximum capacity before ordering an upgrade.
  • If the demo is available to you, remember that its 4 GB RAM and 1 GB storage figures cannot certify the full release.
  • Recheck the official Steam listing near 11 November 2026 and after launch for revised requirements, a GPU entry, or measured performance guidance.

Controller support and other practical details

The Steam description includes controller support, so a PC-compatible controller is an optional input device. It does not help a computer satisfy the Windows, processor, memory, storage, or graphics requirements. You can play solo or co-op according to the listing, but the published specifications do not state whether co-op changes the hardware demand.

The game’s roguelike action format and walking-castle defense premise explain why readers may expect real-time graphics and waves of enemies, but those design details are not substitutes for a documented GPU target or benchmark.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Bottom-line decision

Check Windows 10, the Intel Core i3 3.2 GHz processor reference, 8 GB of RAM, and 1,000 MB of free space one by one. Meeting all four published Windows fields means your PC satisfies Castlebound’s current official minimum specification. It does not establish a frame rate or graphics setting because no GPU requirement, recommended specification, or benchmark has been published. Treat the 11 November 2026 date as planned, use the full-game figures rather than the demo’s lower requirements, and verify the official listing again when the release build arrives.
