For the U.S. Amazon Prime settlement, the FTC says you may qualify if you were a U.S. Prime customer, enrolled through one of the challenged flows or tried and failed to cancel online between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, and used no more than 20 Prime benefits in any 12-month period after enrolling. Meeting those general criteria does not confirm that you personally will be paid; Amazon’s records and the settlement administrator determine individual payment handling.
Payments are automatic under current FTC guidance, so you do not need to submit a new claim. For a personal eligibility or payment-status answer, use the official settlement administrator.

Check the three general eligibility criteria
The FTC’s current guidance describes eligibility for U.S. Amazon Prime customers using three criteria. Compare your account history with each one:
- You were a U.S. Amazon Prime customer. This is a U.S. settlement; the stated criteria do not establish eligibility for customers outside the United States.
- Your enrollment or cancellation experience fell within the covered period. Between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, you either signed up through a challenged enrollment flow or tried and failed to cancel using Amazon’s online cancellation flow.
- You used no more than 20 Prime benefits in any 12-month period after enrolling. The ceiling is measured over a 12-month period, not as a lifetime total. The FTC’s current guidance uses 20 benefits; older information describing lower thresholds may relate to earlier payment phases.
The FTC names these challenged enrollment flows: the universal Prime decision page, shipping selection page, single-page checkout, and Prime Video enrollment flow. See the FTC’s Amazon refund guidance for the current criteria.

Understand what the criteria do—and do not—confirm
Appearing to meet the general criteria is not the same as receiving individual approval or confirmation of a payment. Amazon’s records and the settlement administrator’s review govern case-specific payment handling. Contact the administrator if you need a decision about your own eligibility or payment.
The FTC announced a $2.5 billion settlement in 2025, comprising a $1 billion civil penalty and $1.5 billion in consumer refunds. The FTC estimated that 35 million consumers were affected by unwanted Prime enrollment or deferred cancellation. These figures describe the settlement and estimated impact; they do not mean every affected consumer will receive a payment. See the FTC’s 2025 settlement announcement.

Know what stage payments are in
The prior claim-form deadline was July 27, 2026, and has passed. Do not submit a new claim simply because you have not received a payment. Current FTC guidance says eligible payments are automatic, and the revised order provides for additional automatic payments to some potentially eligible consumers, subject to its terms.
| Milestone | What it means |
|---|---|
| June 23, 2019–June 23, 2025 | Covered period for the challenged enrollment or unsuccessful online cancellation. |
| July 27, 2026 | Deadline for the earlier claims forms; it has passed. |
| August 30, 2026 | The court filing says the administrator began payments to claims-process eligible consumers identified in Amazon’s records, including some who submitted approved forms, invalid forms, or no form, if no earlier payment was issued and no holdback applied. |
| October 1, 2026 | The revised order and FTC announcement describe the start of additional automatic payments for potentially eligible consumers who used 11–20 benefits. The terms apply, and people already issued a payment are excluded from this additional phase. |
| By April 2027 | The FTC says eligible payments will be sent by this date. A separate possible pro rata round by the end of April 2027 is conditional: it depends on accepted payments remaining below the threshold, and recipients must previously have accepted a payment. |
As of September 2026, the FTC reported that more than $845 million in redress payments had been issued. That is a program-wide figure, not an estimate of what any individual will receive. The FTC’s September 2026 announcement and the revised court filing and order describe the payment phases.

How much might an eligible consumer receive?
The maximum total payment is up to $200, not a guaranteed amount. Earlier payments were capped at $51; a possible additional payment can be up to $149, depending on distribution and individual eligibility. A later pro rata round is conditional, rather than a promised payment. The FTC’s current refund guidance explains the cap and payment process.
Check your payment or fix a problem safely
- Review your account history. Check when and how you enrolled, whether you tried to cancel online during the covered period, and how many Prime benefits you used in any 12-month period after enrolling.
- Ask the official administrator about your individual record. Go directly to SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com, email admin@SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com, or call 1-888-999-8094. The administrator handles questions about eligibility, missing payments, claim status, incorrect checks, address problems, and reissues. The FTC’s consumer advice outlines these support issues.
- If you received a payment, act promptly. Check its issue date and follow the payment instructions: settlement payments expire 60 days after they are issued.
Recognize refund scams
The FTC says it is not contacting people about Amazon refunds, and neither the FTC nor Amazon will ask you to pay a fee to release a settlement payment. Do not pay an unsolicited caller or email sender, follow a message link to provide personal information, or trust anyone promising a guaranteed refund or special access. Reach the administrator using the official site or the contact details above. Read the FTC’s scam warning and refund instructions.
