Recorded classes can be broadcast as a continuous YouTube Live stream, but suitability depends on more than whether the video plays. First verify rights to every element, confirm the channel can livestream, check audience and monetization implications, and test the broadcast workflow. YouTube may not capture a stream longer than 12 hours, so do not treat one uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast as a dependable archive.
Check rights to the entire recording
Before scheduling a class, confirm you own or have permission to use the recording and every component in it. That can include slides, background music, video clips, images, guest contributions, and material taken from another broadcast. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions make the content provider responsible for securing necessary worldwide rights.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. An unresolved match can result in a placeholder replacing the stream, an interruption, or termination. If you have a license for third-party material, ask the rights holder whether your channel needs to be added to its Content ID allowlist; YouTube explains the process in its live-stream copyright guidance. A license or permission to use content does not by itself guarantee that a stream will avoid automated interruption.
- List every third-party item in the class, including content that appears briefly or plays only in the background.
- Keep written permissions and license terms, and check whether they cover livestreaming, worldwide availability, and repeated use.
- Remove or replace material whose rights or permitted uses you cannot establish.
Confirm the channel is eligible to livestream
YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance says a creator needs a verified channel, must be at least 16 years old, and must not have a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube also reserves the ability to restrict livestreaming. Check the channel’s current status before building a 24/7 schedule; a technically ready encoder cannot bypass an account-level restriction.

Choose an encoder workflow and test the actual class
YouTube supports encoder-based streaming through software or standalone hardware; it does not require a particular hardware purchase. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream, then provide the stream URL and key to the encoder. YouTube describes the process in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Prepare the source. Play the complete class or representative sections through the intended setup. Check that the lesson’s audio is audible, slides and on-screen text are readable, and transitions do not leave a blank or frozen frame.
- Create the YouTube stream. In Live Control Room, set up the broadcast and retrieve its stream URL and key. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to the channel.
- Configure the encoder. Enter the stream URL and key, select the intended source and output settings, and ensure the workflow can loop or move between recordings as planned. YouTube’s encoder instructions cover supported setup; exact controls vary by encoder.
- Preview before going live. Confirm picture, sound, and stream status in YouTube before starting the public broadcast. Test the same files, transitions, and schedule you intend to use, not just a short sample from a different source.
- Test recovery. Simulate or safely test an encoder or connection interruption and confirm how the workflow resumes. A successful short test does not establish unattended 24/7 reliability.
Monitor the broadcast after launch. YouTube’s streaming tips say to “Continuously monitor streams for audio and video quality.” The same guidance recommends keeping 20% of upload bandwidth available beyond the total stream bitrate. That is a setup recommendation, not a promise of uptime; leave headroom rather than planning to consume all available upload capacity.

Plan the archive independently of the live schedule
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. The duration limit and archive guidance are described in Archive live streams. For an around-the-clock channel, preserve the original recordings and make a local backup rather than relying on a single continuous YouTube archive.
If you need YouTube archives, test a schedule divided into shorter segments or planned restarts, and verify that each segment appears as expected. Account for the fact that every restart is an operational event: the encoder must start the next broadcast, and someone or an automated workflow should detect a failure. Shorter segments can improve the chance of an archive being captured, but they do not guarantee that every stream will be saved.

Decide whether the content is suitable for monetization
Rights clearance and monetization are separate questions. Permission to rebroadcast material does not necessarily make a channel eligible to monetize it. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams and assess whether the channel offers original, authentic value. Repetitive or mass-produced material, or reused content without significant original commentary, substantive changes, or educational or entertainment value, may be ineligible.
Review the channel as a whole and the value a viewer receives from the repeated classes. A recording being educational, or the creator having permission to use it, is not a guarantee of monetization approval. YouTube’s policy decision depends on the channel and its content.

Set the audience designation accurately
Educational material is not automatically “made for kids.” Decide based on the intended and actual audience and other child-directed factors, then set the audience in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s audience guidance explains the designation and its consequences. A made-for-kids setting affects features including live chat, comments, reminder notifications, and personalized ads, so settle the classification before launch rather than choosing it for convenience.

There is no universally best setup: compare archive recovery, looping and restart behavior, monitoring, rights coverage, playback quality on phones and TVs, interaction features, and the time you can devote to operation. A desktop or hardware encoder gives you direct control, but the device, power, and network must remain available for the stream. YouTube supports both software and hardware encoder approaches; the right choice depends on your sources and unattended-operation needs.

Troubleshoot before committing to an all-day schedule
- Stream is interrupted or replaced by a placeholder: Check for third-party matches and verify permission for every component. If material is licensed, confirm with the rights holder whether the channel must be allowlisted.
- Stream will not start: Check channel verification, age eligibility, recent live-stream restrictions, and whether the stream URL and key were entered correctly.
- Audio, text, or transitions look wrong: Preview the actual class in the intended workflow. Adjust the source or playback setup and test again before the public stream.
- Connection becomes unstable: Check encoder and network status, and leave the upload-bandwidth headroom YouTube recommends. Test the restart path instead of assuming a short test proves recovery.
- No complete archive appears: Check the broadcast duration. A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured; preserve source recordings and local backups, and test shorter segments or planned restarts.
- Monetization is rejected or uncertain: Reassess the originality and value of the channel’s content separately from copyright permissions. Repetition alone does not establish that a channel meets monetization policy.
- Audience features are unavailable: Review whether the class is correctly designated as made for kids and understand which interaction and ad features that designation limits.
