Search the exact game in PlayStation’s official PS Plus games finder, then confirm it in the PlayStation Plus hub or PlayStation Store on your own console. Check the game’s category, your membership tier, region, and any claim or removal date: a listing—or an old article saying a game was included—does not guarantee that you can play it now.

Check a game’s current PS Plus status

  1. Search the exact title in PlayStation’s PS Plus games finder. Identify whether the result is a Monthly Game, Game Catalog title, Classics Catalog title, or Game Trial. Treat the finder as a way to locate titles, not proof that a particular offer applies to your country or membership.
  2. Confirm the listing in your local PS Plus hub. On PS5, go to Games home, select PlayStation Plus, open Benefits, then choose Game Catalog for catalog titles; Monthly Games are in a separate area. On PS4, open PlayStation Plus from the function screen and choose Game Catalog or Monthly Games. PlayStation says the console hub shows the full list for your country or region. See PlayStation Support’s catalog instructions.
  3. Match the category to your membership tier. Essential includes Monthly Games. Extra adds the Game Catalog. Premium includes the Essential and Extra benefits, plus the Classics Catalog and Game Trials. A game appearing in a catalog does not mean every tier can access it. These tier descriptions are from PlayStation’s US plan explanation; check your local Store for the options and entitlements in your region.
  4. Check the dates. Monthly Games have a claim window, while Game Catalog titles can leave the service. If a monthly game has been announced but its offer has not started, it is not yet playable under that month’s offer. Look for the current dates in PlayStation’s announcement and Store listing.
  5. Check the action shown on the game’s Store page. For an eligible catalog game, PlayStation Support directs members to select Download. For a Monthly Game, add it to your library; on PS4, the support instructions specify Add to Library, then Download. If the listing instead shows a price or does not offer the expected action, recheck your account, region, tier, game edition, and current Store listing rather than relying on a search result or snippet.

Know which PS Plus library the game belongs to

The category matters because each PS Plus offer works differently. Monthly Games are offered for a limited claim period, while catalog selections can rotate out. A trial is not the same entitlement as the full game.

Listing type Who can access it What to check
Monthly Games Essential, Extra, and Premium members Add the game during its offer window. Once claimed, it remains accessible while your membership is active.
Game Catalog Extra and Premium members Check that the title is still listed; games may be removed from the rotating catalog.
Classics Catalog Premium members under PlayStation’s US plan explanation Confirm the title and entitlement in your local PS Plus hub or Store.
Game Trials Premium members under PlayStation’s US plan explanation Check the trial’s time limit. Access to a trial is not access to the full game through a catalog entitlement.

PlayStation’s games finder and plan FAQ describe US plan benefits and warn that availability varies by country or region. Use your console’s local hub or Store as the final check.

Understand claim windows and catalog removals

Monthly Games: claim before the offer ends

PlayStation offers a new Monthly Games selection each calendar month. Add a game to your library during its claim window; claimed Monthly Games remain available to play while your PS Plus membership is active. If you let the offer window pass without claiming it, do not assume that the game will remain available as a Monthly Game.

Game Catalog: check again before you plan to play

The Game Catalog is a rotating library. A title may have been included in the past and later leave, so an old screenshot, guide, or announcement cannot establish current access. Check the live listing for the title and your region rather than relying on historical mentions.

Example: October 2026 Monthly Games

In its September 30, 2026 announcement, PlayStation said October’s selections—F1 25 (PS5), Hunt: Showdown 1896 (PS5), and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 (PS5, PS4)—would be available from Tuesday, October 6, through Monday, November 2. On October 4, they had been announced but were not yet playable under that offer. The September games—Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life, and Chained Echoes—could be added through Monday, October 5. PlayStation notes that the lineup may differ by region and recommends checking the Store on release day; see its October 2026 Monthly Games announcement.

What to do if the game appears included but you cannot play it

  • Check the tier. A Game Catalog title requires Extra or Premium; Classics Catalog and Game Trials are Premium benefits under PlayStation’s US plan explanation.
  • Check the local listing. Availability can differ by country or region, including Monthly Games lineups. Confirm the title in the console hub or Store for the account you use to play.
  • Check the date and category. A Monthly Game may not have reached its start date or may have passed its claim deadline. A catalog title may have been removed.
  • Check the edition and Store action. Make sure you are viewing the intended game edition and inspect whether the Store offers the expected download or library action.
  • Separate streaming from inclusion. Streaming is available only for eligible titles and plans; it is not a test of whether every included game can be streamed. PlayStation Support requires at least 5 Mbps broadband for catalog streaming, and PlayStation’s US plan page says some games may not be streamable. Check the game’s individual options and your local plan details.
