Samsung India says the Galaxy M08 LTE and Galaxy F08 LTE are eligible for six generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates, measured from each phone’s first global launch date. To check for an update now, open Settings > Software update > Check for updates, then follow the prompts if one is offered. An “up to date” message only means no update is currently available to your phone through that check; it does not by itself mean support has ended.
What software support Samsung lists for the M08 and F08
Samsung India’s product pages give both the Galaxy M08 and Galaxy F08 the same model-specific commitment: six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates from the first global launch date. The pages list the security update period as valid until 30 September 2032 and identify 1 October 2026 as the launch date. Samsung qualifies its update policies as subject to change.
| Model on Samsung India’s listing | OS upgrade commitment | Security update commitment |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy M08 | Six generations from first global launch | Six years from first global launch; listed as valid until 30 September 2032 |
| Galaxy F08 | Six generations from first global launch | Six years from first global launch; listed as valid until 30 September 2032 |
These are published commitments for Samsung India’s listed models, not a promise that every update will arrive on a particular date or simultaneously for every carrier or region. Samsung Mobile Security says that, as of January 2024, security support had been extended by “up to 7 years” for applicable devices; that is a broad maximum and does not replace the six-year commitment stated on these two model pages.
Check for and install an update
Menu wording can differ by software version, model, or carrier. Start with the standard path:

- TYPE IT IN. TRANSFORM IT FAST: Enhance any shot in seconds on your smartphone by using Photo Assist² with Galaxy AI.³ Add objects, restore details, or apply new styles by simply typing or tapping

- HELP THAT KEEPS UP: Stay in the moment while Now Nudge with Galaxy AI helps you respond faster and stay organized with smart suggestions⁵ that appear exactly when you need them on your phone
- Connect the phone to Wi-Fi and make sure it has sufficient battery charge. Google’s general Android guidance recommends Wi-Fi and at least 75% charge before updating; this is not a Samsung-specific minimum for the M08 or F08.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Software update. If that option is not shown, look under About device for the software update option.
- Tap Check for updates or, on some versions, Download and install.
- If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it. Samsung says the phone restarts during the process.
Keep the phone powered on and follow any instructions shown on screen. If an update is not offered, see the rollout guidance below rather than assuming that the support period has ended.
See which software version is installed
Open Settings > About phone. Depending on the software version, details may be under Software information. Look for the Android version, Android security update, Google Play system update, and build number. The labels and exact placement can vary, so use the information displayed on your phone.

- Android or One UI upgrade: a platform update that can change the operating system and features.
- Android security update: security fixes delivered as firmware updates.
- Google Play system update: a separate status item from the Android security update.
- Build number: identifies the installed software build and can help Samsung or your carrier identify your device’s software.
What it means when no update appears
If the phone says it is up to date, no update is currently being offered to that handset through its update check. It does not prove Samsung has ended the published support period. Samsung says update type and version depend on the model, and timing can vary by device, region, and network operator. Samsung India also notes that eligible models and schedules can change and that country or operator can affect timing and supported functions.
Check again later. If you need to establish availability for your specific handset, contact Samsung or the carrier and provide the exact model and software build shown under Settings > About phone. Samsung’s general security policy describes monthly, quarterly, and biannual update groups for selected devices, but the sources cited here do not assign the M08 or F08 to a particular cadence. Do not assume a monthly or quarterly schedule for either model without a model-specific listing.
