What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Use the route for your device: iPhone: Photos > Collections > Media Types > Screenshots. Android in Google Photos: Photos > Collections > On this device > Screenshots. Samsung Galaxy: Gallery > Albums > Screenshots. Windows captures made with Windows logo key + PrtScn: Pictures > Screenshots.
The app and folder names differ by platform, so follow the matching section below. If you are looking for a screenshot stored on an Android phone from a Windows PC, use Phone Link rather than the local Windows folder.
Find the right route at a glance
| Device or source | Open this app or folder | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone | Photos > Collections > Media Types > Screenshots | Screenshots saved on the iPhone |
| Android with Google Photos | Photos > Collections > On this device > Screenshots | Local screenshots on the Android phone |
| Android without Google Photos | The phone maker’s Gallery app > Screenshots | Local screenshots in the manufacturer’s photo app |
| Samsung Galaxy | Gallery > Albums > Screenshots | Screenshots in the Galaxy Gallery app |
| Windows PC capture | Pictures > Screenshots | Captures made with Windows logo key + PrtScn |
| Android phone viewed from Windows | Phone Link | Recent photos and screenshots from a supported Android phone |
These destinations are not interchangeable. A screenshot taken on a phone will not necessarily be in the Windows Pictures > Screenshots folder, and a Windows capture will not automatically appear in a phone’s photo app.
iPhone: open the Screenshots media type
Current Photos route
- Open Photos.
- Tap Collections.
- Tap Media Types.
- Tap Screenshots.
Apple’s current iPhone instructions describe this Screenshots media type as the place to browse saved screen captures. Open the newest-looking thumbnail to check the latest image, then use the image’s date or time details if you need to distinguish several captures.

If you just captured the image
On iOS 26, Apple describes quick tools that appear after a screenshot. On iOS 18 and earlier, a temporary thumbnail appears at the lower-left corner of the screen. If that thumbnail is still visible, tap it to open the image immediately; otherwise use the Photos route above. Apple’s cited support page identifies the iOS 26 behavior and was published June 3, 2026. The page is hosted in the Qatar support region, while the navigation applies to the iPhone instructions presented there.
Android: use Google Photos or the phone’s Gallery
Google Photos path
- Open Photos (Google Photos).
- Tap Collections.
- Tap On this device.
- Tap Screenshots.
The On this device step matters: it takes you to collections stored locally on the phone rather than asking you to search the general photo timeline. From the Screenshots collection, inspect the most recent thumbnails and open the one you need.
When Google Photos is not installed
Google’s Android guidance says phones without the Photos app can use the phone’s Gallery app and its Screenshots folder instead. Open Gallery, look for an album or folder named Screenshots, and check that collection. The exact Gallery layout is manufacturer-dependent, so labels such as Albums, Folders or On device may be used around the Screenshots entry.

Do not mix cloud and local views
The documented Android route establishes where to look on the device. It does not establish that a screenshot was backed up, synchronized to every cloud library, or saved successfully. If the local Screenshots collection is empty, continue with the troubleshooting checks rather than assuming the image exists online.

Standard Galaxy route
- Open Gallery.
- Tap Albums.
- Tap Screenshots.
Samsung’s current Galaxy instructions use this Gallery album route. It is the quickest way to find a recent screenshot on most Galaxy phones and tablets.
File-manager fallback
Samsung also documents a possible storage path in its Korean support material: My Files > Internal storage > DCIM > Screenshots. Treat this as a fallback for applicable Galaxy setups, not a universal promise. Samsung explicitly warns that available screens and settings can vary by carrier, software version and model.

If your Galaxy does not show that album
- Confirm that you opened Gallery, not a separate cloud-photo app.
- Check Albums for a Screenshots entry before browsing individual dates.
- Try My Files > Internal storage > DCIM > Screenshots if your model uses that folder arrangement.
- Use the exact labels shown on your model; Samsung’s support guidance does not establish one identical layout for every carrier and software release.
Windows: distinguish PC captures from phone screenshots
Captures made with Windows logo key + PrtScn
- Open File Explorer.
- Open Pictures.
- Open Screenshots.
Microsoft ties this folder specifically to screenshots captured with Windows logo key + PrtScn. Therefore, do not assume that every image made with another Windows capture method will be in that folder. If you used a different shortcut or capture workflow, look in the app or destination that workflow selected.
Viewing recent Android screenshots from a Windows PC
If by “recent screenshots” you mean images on a connected Android phone, Microsoft documents Phone Link as a separate route. It can show recent camera photos and screenshots without a USB cable. The cited feature applies to Android OS 7.0 or newer and covers recent photos; it is not the same as the local Windows Pictures > Screenshots folder.
- Open Phone Link on the Windows PC.
- Select the phone’s recent photos or screenshots view.
- Open the screenshot you want to inspect.
If the image is missing there, check the Android phone directly using the Google Photos, Gallery or Samsung routes above. Phone Link’s recent-photo view should not be treated as a complete replacement for the phone’s local storage.

When the Screenshots album or folder is missing
1. Verify the platform and app
On Android, Google distinguishes Google Photos from the phone maker’s Gallery. A phone may have Gallery instead of Photos, or both apps may be installed. On Galaxy devices, Samsung’s documented route starts in Gallery. On Windows, first decide whether you need a PC capture or a screenshot stored on an Android phone.
2. Use the local-device wording
In Google Photos, select Collections > On this device. Searching only the general Photos feed can lead you away from the local Screenshots collection.
3. Account for Samsung variation
Samsung states that screens and settings differ by carrier, software version and model. If Gallery does not show the expected album, use My Files as a possible fallback and follow the labels present on your device rather than assuming the Korean support path applies unchanged.

- PERFORMANCE: Lightning-fast 5G connectivity paired with a powerful processor and RAM Boost for smooth multitasking.
- BATTERY LIFE: Long-lasting 5000mAh battery with TurboPower charging technology delivers hours of power in minutes.
4. Separate a missing view from a missing file
The official directions identify where saved screenshots are normally grouped; they do not prove that every capture was saved, backed up or synchronized. An empty album therefore does not establish that a copy exists in a cloud library. Check the capture device itself and the method used to create the image.
5. Recheck the capture method on Windows
Pictures > Screenshots is specifically documented for Windows logo key + PrtScn. If you used another shortcut or application, use that tool’s own save location instead of repeatedly checking the Windows folder.

If you are a developer who needs a new screenshot of a web page rather than a screenshot already stored on a phone or PC, ScreenshotNeo returns a clean image or PDF from one request. It is not a way to search your device’s existing photo library; it is a website screenshot API and MCP server.
See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for request options. A basic cURL request is:

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
The equivalent Python request is:
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js:
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' }); const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
Before capture, ScreenshotNeo can accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing, and the response reports the page verdict and billing status in X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.
For automation, it also provides an MCP server with take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients. Other available controls include full-page capture with lazy images loaded, CSS-selector element capture, dark mode, 12 device presets plus custom viewports, retina scale, PDF paper size and margins, custom CSS and JavaScript, click-before-capture actions, hidden selectors, selector/delay/network-idle waits, request and resource blocking, custom headers, cookies, user agent, Authorization, timezone and geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, chosen cache TTLs, signed links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API and an OpenAPI specification. Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs are accepted to ease migration.

Quick Recap
Practical checks before you conclude the screenshot is gone
- Confirm you are checking the device that actually captured the screen.
- Use the platform-specific app name: Photos, Gallery, My Files, File Explorer or Phone Link.
- On Android, choose On this device in Google Photos when looking for local files.
- On Samsung, expect menu differences tied to model, carrier and software version.
- On Windows, verify that Windows logo key + PrtScn was the shortcut used before relying on Pictures > Screenshots.
- Do not infer cloud backup or successful saving solely from the presence or absence of an album; the documented routes only tell you where to look for saved items.
