In YouTube Studio on a computer, open Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Find live streaming and check whether its status says Enabled. That is YouTube’s documented status check, though it does not guarantee that every streaming method or broadcast will work.
Check live-streaming access in YouTube Studio
- Sign in to YouTube Studio using the account for the channel you want to check.
- Select Settings, then Channel, then Feature eligibility.
- Locate the live-streaming feature and read its status. YouTube says, “You’ll see ‘Enabled’ next to the features you have access to.”
If live streaming is marked Enabled, the channel has access according to this Studio status page. If it is not enabled, or the option you expect is missing, check the channel’s verification and any live-streaming restrictions, then confirm the requirements for the particular method you want to use.
What to check if live streaming is not enabled
Verification and recent restrictions
YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance lists channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days among the eligibility requirements. Review YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance for the current steps and account-specific notices.
Minimum age
YouTube’s current general guidance sets the minimum age to live stream at 16. If the channel or person using it does not meet that requirement, an Enabled-looking status should not be treated as permission to bypass it.

Check the requirements for your streaming method
YouTube supports several ways to start a live stream, including mobile, webcam, encoder, and console. The requirements are not identical, so troubleshoot the method you plan to use rather than applying one method’s rules to every route.
Mobile live streaming
For mobile live streaming, YouTube lists at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. If mobile streaming was enabled for the first time, YouTube says it may take up to 24 hours before the first stream can start. See the current mobile live-streaming requirements.

Webcam, encoder, or console
Check the setup instructions and any requirements for the specific method you intend to use. Do not assume the 50-subscriber threshold for mobile applies to webcam, encoder, or console streams. Conversely, an Enabled status in Feature eligibility does not establish that every method is ready or that a particular broadcast will succeed. YouTube notes that some features have separate eligibility conditions and are not all managed from this page.
Why the Go Live option may still be missing
- You are checking the wrong channel: confirm the channel identity in Studio matches the one you intend to stream from.
- The channel is not verified or has a recent restriction: review the channel’s status and YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- You are using mobile: check the mobile-specific subscriber and activation requirements; a first-time enablement can take up to 24 hours.
- You are using another method: follow that method’s own setup and eligibility guidance rather than relying on mobile rules.
- Feature eligibility says Enabled, but a method remains unavailable: check the method-specific help page and any separate eligibility conditions. The status page is an access check, not a guarantee that an individual stream can start.
