Open the livestream or Premiere on YouTube’s watch page, make sure live chat is visible, and look for the dollar-sign purchase button. If it appears, select it to see whether Super Chat or Super Stickers are offered for that chat. India is a supported location, but that does not mean the option is available on every video.
Check for the Super Chat button on YouTube
- Open the stream on YouTube’s watch page. If you are watching an embedded player on another site, open the video directly on YouTube. Live chat is available on watch pages, not embedded players. YouTube Help: Live chat
- Make sure live chat is visible. The purchase control appears in live chat, so you need to be able to see the chat.
- Look for the dollar-sign purchase button. If it is present, select it to view the Super Chat and Super Sticker options. On a computer, YouTube’s purchase flow lets you choose an amount, optionally add a message, and complete the purchase. YouTube Help: Buy a Super Chat or Super Sticker
- Interpret the result only for that viewing context. Seeing the options means they are offered in that chat. If the button is missing, it means the purchase option is not currently visible there; it does not identify the reason by itself.
Why the Super Chat button may be missing
YouTube lists India among the locations where Super Chat and Super Stickers are available to eligible creators. However, YouTube also excludes certain video and chat situations, so location alone cannot determine whether a particular stream offers the feature. - The video is age-restricted, unlisted, or private.
- The video is marked Made for Kids.
- The video has a YouTube Giving fundraiser.
- Live chat or comments are turned off.
- You are using an embedded player rather than the YouTube watch page.
YouTube’s published guidance does not provide a complete viewer-side diagnosis for every missing-button case. Do not assume that absence proves a problem with your account, country, payment method, or the creator’s settings. First check that you are on the YouTube watch page and that live chat is visible; the remaining cause may depend on the video or chat context.
Know what happens before you buy
A Super Chat highlights your message within the live chat feed. Depending on the amount, YouTube may pin it for a period; the color and pin duration vary with the amount.
