To check screen time on a supported Galaxy phone or tablet, open Settings and tap Digital Wellbeing or Digital Wellbeing and parental controls. From there, you can review usage, set a daily screen-time goal, or limit time in selected apps. Menu names and available features vary by model, software version, and carrier.
How to check screen time on a Samsung Galaxy
- Open Settings.
- Tap Digital Wellbeing or Digital Wellbeing and parental controls.
- Review the usage summary. If your device offers it, open the weekly report for your daily average and most-used apps.
Samsung says the features in its US guide require Android 10 or later. Some options may appear in Modes and Routines, and screens can vary by carrier, software version, and model. If the menu is missing or differs from these steps, check the labels on your device and the Samsung support page for your Galaxy model: Use Digital Wellbeing features on your Galaxy phone or tablet.
What the usage dashboard can show
Depending on your device, Digital Wellbeing may show time spent in apps, notifications, and device unlocks. Samsung’s US guide describes a weekly report with daily average screen time and frequently used apps. An older Samsung Caribbean guide describes breakdowns by day, hour, and app, but that detail should not be assumed to appear on every current Galaxy device.

Choose a control that fits your goal
Set a daily screen-time goal
A screen-time goal gives you a daily target and a tracker showing hours and minutes used that day. Use it to compare your actual use with the target you set; it is a tracking aid, not a diagnosis or guarantee that usage will change.
Set a timer for a specific app
An app timer gives a selected app a daily time allowance. Samsung says you can edit or delete the timer later. This is useful when you want to limit one app rather than set an overall daily target.

Use Focus Mode or Bedtime Mode if available
Focus Mode can temporarily pause selected apps or silence their notifications. Bedtime Mode can follow a schedule, fade the screen to grayscale, and block notifications at night. Behavior and availability can vary by device; Samsung describes these features on its Digital Wellbeing page.
Check driving activity as a separate feature
Some Galaxy devices offer Driving monitor or Screen time while driving. Samsung says the dashboard may report driving time, screen time while driving, and daily or weekly activity. This is separate from the main screen-time review, and it may not be available on every device.

For a child’s device, use parental controls instead
Personal Digital Wellbeing is for reviewing and managing usage on the device. A parent managing a child’s account should use the parental-control setup that matches the child’s device and account. Samsung’s Google Family Link guide describes this path: Settings > Digital Wellbeing and parental controls > Parental controls. It describes monitoring app and screen time and applying limits, and says its setup applies to devices running One UI 2.0 or later. Samsung also documents a Galaxy for Families route for Samsung child accounts: Settings > Samsung account > Family > child account > Family Link. That route includes daily limits, downtime, app limits, and content restrictions; Samsung says child-account parental controls can only be managed and applied on Galaxy devices running One UI 6.1 or higher. If Digital Wellbeing is missing or looks different
- Search Settings for “Digital Wellbeing” as well as “Digital Wellbeing and parental controls.”
- Check your Galaxy’s Android or One UI version and model; supported options differ.
- Look in Modes and Routines for options Samsung has moved there.
- Use Samsung’s device-specific support guidance if a feature or menu item is not present.
