On a Galaxy phone using Samsung Keyboard, go to Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings and turn on Keyboard toolbar. To control suggestions as you type, open Smart typing and toggle Suggest emojis or Suggest stickers while typing. Those are separate settings: the toolbar makes emoji and sticker controls accessible, while Smart typing governs contextual suggestions.
Menu names and available features can vary by device, software version, and country. If the listed path does not match your screen, search Settings for “Samsung Keyboard.”
Show the emoji and sticker toolbar
- Open Settings.
- Tap General management.
- Tap Samsung Keyboard settings.
- Turn on Keyboard toolbar.
This is Samsung’s documented route on selected models and software versions. The toolbar can include Emoji, Stickers, GIF, Voice Input, and Settings. Tap the three-dot control to expand the available options. If the toolbar is already on screen, you can also tap its Settings icon and switch Keyboard toolbar on or off. To rearrange toolbar icons, press and hold an icon, then drag it into or out of the panel. Samsung India’s September 30, 2024 guide says up to seven icons can be added; treat that limit as specific to the models and software covered by that guide, not as a universal limit.

Turn emoji and sticker suggestions on or off
- Open Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard. On some devices, the label is Samsung Keyboard settings.
- Tap Smart typing.
- Toggle Suggest emojis and/or Suggest stickers while typing.
These controls affect contextual suggestions that appear as you type; they do not replace the main Keyboard toolbar switch. Samsung’s current support instructions are in its Galaxy keyboard settings guide.
Samsung’s older Global Newsroom article describes sticker suggestions as requiring One UI 1.5 or later and lists emoji suggestion languages as English, Korean, Spanish, French, Russian, Italian, German, and Portuguese. Fix missing emoji-panel shortcuts in Samsung Messages
If the toolbar is visible but particular shortcuts are missing from the emoji panel, adjust the panel separately. Samsung documents this route for Samsung Messages:
- Open a conversation in Samsung Messages and tap the emoji icon.
- Swipe left in the emoji panel, then tap Settings.
- Toggle shortcuts to add or remove them. To change their order, tap Edit and drag shortcuts into position.
- Tap Back twice to return to the keyboard.
This documented route is specific to Samsung Messages; other messaging apps may organize their emoji controls differently. Details are in Samsung’s emoji and avatar support guide.

In a messaging app, open a text field to display Samsung Keyboard, tap the emoji icon, select your custom avatar or AR Emoji, and send it. On the Galaxy S25 series and compatible devices running Android 15 and One UI 7.0, Samsung says AR Emoji has been renamed Galaxy Avatar. The name and availability depend on the device and software; consult Samsung’s avatar support guide for its documented feature details.
Create an AI sticker
Where supported, Samsung documents this workflow: open a text field, tap the keyboard’s emoji icon, select the AI stickers icon, choose Create sticker, enter a prompt, choose a style, and generate the sticker. This is a feature workflow, not a universal keyboard toggle, and the settings and options vary by device and software. See Samsung’s custom sticker guide.

If the menus or controls are different
- Use Settings search for Samsung Keyboard to find the keyboard settings directly if General management or the exact submenu name differs.
- Check whether the device is using Samsung Keyboard; settings for another keyboard app will not necessarily match these instructions.
- Do not rely on older menu routes such as Language and input, On-screen keyboard, or Style and layout as the current route. Samsung’s newer instructions use General management, though screens still vary by model and software.
Samsung Canada notes that its support information applies to devices sold in Canada and that “Available screens and settings may vary for smartphones sold in other countries.” Model, software version, and region can affect both the route and which features appear.
