Peacock’s playback options are in the player’s Audio & Subtitles menu; the steps for opening it depend on your device. Profile maturity ratings and a four-digit Profile PIN are managed separately in a browser-based profile screen, not directly on a TV. Use the instructions below to change captions, audio tracks, and profile access controls.
Turn Peacock subtitles or captions on or off
Start the program and open Audio & Subtitles. The control appears differently on a TV or streaming device than it does on a phone or tablet.
On a connected TV, console, or streaming device
- Start the show or movie and pause playback to reveal the navigation bar.
- Use the remote to move up, then right to the speech-bubble icon labeled Audio & Subtitles.
- Choose the subtitle option you want. Confirm the selection if prompted; captions may take about 30 seconds to appear.
On a phone or tablet
- Start playback and tap the video to show the controls.
- Tap the speech-bubble icon, then choose a subtitle option.
Turn captions off or change their appearance
Open the same player menu and select Off if it is listed. Peacock Help says subtitles are available on its content across platforms “other than rare exceptions, such as trailers”; that does not guarantee captions for every individual asset or language. See Peacock’s subtitle help page.
To change caption styling, Peacock describes appearance options such as size, font, and color in account settings. Available controls vary by platform. Device accessibility settings may also offer caption options: on iOS or tvOS, use Settings > Accessibility > Subtitles & Captioning; on Android, use Settings > Accessibility and look for the Hearing or Audio captions area. Peacock directs Xbox users to PeacockTV.com for settings. These are platform-specific routes, not one universal setting.

Change the audio track or turn off audio description
Audio tracks are title-specific. During playback, open Audio & Subtitles and inspect the available choices. Select a non-audio-description track to stop the narration if the program offers one. The reviewed Peacock help instructions do not establish that every title has alternate spoken-language tracks or that a choice carries across episodes and devices.
Enable audio description
Audio description is spoken narration of visual details in a program. Peacock identifies eligible shows and movies with an Audio Description icon in the title information. For an eligible title, open Audio & Subtitles and choose English (AD). Peacock lists this option for mobile and tablet, web, cable-provider set-top boxes, connected TVs, consoles, and streaming devices. See Peacock’s Audio Description instructions.

Audio description is not the same as a screen reader: screen readers read interface text while you navigate the app or site, and are generally enabled in your device’s accessibility settings. Peacock says audio description is available for many shows and movies across supported devices; availability is not universal. Check device compatibility before troubleshooting
Peacock lists these older devices as no longer compatible with audio description: Arris XG1v1 (MX011AN), Samsung XG2v2 (SX022AN), Pace Xi3v2 (PX032AN), Cisco G8 (CSO11AN), and Arris XG1V1 RM (AX11RANx). Device support can change, so check Peacock’s current audio-description help page before replacing hardware.

Set a profile’s maturity rating
Peacock’s parental controls are profile-based. A maturity rating limits which rated shows and movies that profile may access; it is different from a Profile PIN, which controls entry to the profile. Peacock’s documented choices are:

These are the profile choices Peacock documents; they are not a complete universal ratings standard and do not describe controls imposed by a device or another account. To change a rating:

- In a mobile or desktop browser, open the Who’s Watching? profiles page.
- Select the pencil icon under the profile you want to edit.
- Select Change beside Maturity Ratings.
- Enter the account password, choose a rating, then select Save Rating.
Peacock says maturity-rating changes cannot be completed directly on a TV. If you begin there, follow the QR-code prompt on a mobile device to continue. Full instructions are on Peacock’s parental-controls help page.

A four-digit Profile PIN protects access to that profile from another profile, helping prevent a child from switching into a parent’s or another adult’s profile. It is separate from the maturity rating, which limits access to content within a profile.

- In a browser, open the Who’s Watching? profiles page and edit the profile.
- Switch Profile Pin to On.
- Enter the account password, create a four-digit PIN, and select Save PIN.
