ICICI Bank has separate controls for ordinary fund transfers and UPI. Internet Banking lets you view or modify the transfer limit from My Profile, while iMobile and UPI follow their own service rules. UPI limits are governed by the bank and applicable payment-network rules; a newly registered UPI ID can have a temporary first-day cap.
The quickest route is therefore: use Internet Banking for a fund-transfer-limit change, check the limit shown for your account in iMobile for mobile-banking transactions, and wait out the initial UPI restriction or contact ICICI if a UPI payment remains blocked.
ICICI Bank limits at a glance
These figures are published by ICICI Bank on pages accessed in 2026. They are service-level figures, not a guarantee that every account, customer category or transaction type can use the maximum amount.

| Service or control | Published limit | What you can do | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| iMobile daily fund-transfer limit | ₹20 lakh per day | Use the limit displayed for your account in the app; a change may not be available as a self-service option for every customer. | ICICI publishes this as the iMobile daily fund-transfer limit. Your account, product and applicable rules still determine the amount available to you. |
| Internet Banking fund-transfer limit | ₹10 lakh default | Sign in, open My Profile, and use the personalised transaction-limit control to view or submit a change. | The default is not a promise that every account can select the maximum or that a requested increase will be approved. |
| UPI after the initial registration period | ₹1,00,000 per day | Use the UPI ID and bank account shown in iMobile; there is no documented customer setting that overrides the bank or network cap. | This figure is stated on ICICI’s NRI UPI guidance. Resident-account customers should verify the limit shown in their own iMobile flow. |
| UPI during the first 24 hours after a new UPI/VPA registration | ₹5,000 during that period | Wait until the 24-hour period has elapsed, then retry within the normal limit. | This is a temporary security restriction, not a permanent reduction of your UPI limit. |
Do not treat these rows as one combined allowance. A UPI payment, an Internet Banking transfer and a transfer initiated through iMobile can be subject to different controls, even when they use the same savings account.
Choose the right limit before changing anything
“Mobile transaction limit” can mean several different things. First identify the channel and transaction type shown by the failed payment or by the screen you are trying to change.
Internet Banking fund transfers
This is the limit attached to transfers initiated after signing in to ICICI Internet Banking. ICICI says the applicable transfer limit can be viewed or modified in the My Profile section. It is separate from the limit applied to UPI payments.
iMobile fund transfers
iMobile has its own daily fund-transfer rule. The published figure is a service limit, so the app may show a lower amount for a particular account, beneficiary, transaction type or risk condition. A setting that changes Internet Banking does not automatically change every iMobile or UPI rule.
UPI payments
UPI uses a bank- and payment-network-governed cap. A newly created UPI ID (also called a virtual payment address or VPA) can be restricted for the first day. Changing an Internet Banking transfer setting cannot be used as a documented method for bypassing that UPI restriction.
Other controls
ICICI lists UPI, debit-card controls and Internet Banking transfer controls separately. If the message mentions a card limit, ATM withdrawal, cash withdrawal or card purchase, changing a fund-transfer limit is the wrong remedy.

How to change the ICICI Internet Banking transfer limit
ICICI’s published instruction is: “You can view or modify your transfer limit by visiting the ‘My Profile’ section in Internet Banking.” Use the following sequence.
- Open ICICI Internet Banking. Use the bank’s official website and sign in through the normal login page. Avoid links supplied in unsolicited messages.
- Open My Profile. After authentication, select My Profile from the signed-in banking interface.
- Open the personalised transaction-limit control. Look for the transfer-limit or transaction-limit option presented for your profile. The exact label can vary with the account and current interface.
- Read the displayed limit before editing it. Confirm whether it is a daily limit, which transfer types it covers, and whether the screen identifies a separate beneficiary or cooling-period condition.
- Submit the requested change. Enter the amount permitted by the form and follow every authentication step ICICI presents. A request can be limited, delayed or declined when the account or transaction does not qualify.
- Confirm the result. Save the on-screen confirmation or reference number. If the displayed limit does not change, sign out and back in before trying a transfer, then check the limit page again.
The published Internet Banking default is ₹10 lakh, while ICICI publishes a higher daily fund-transfer figure for iMobile. Those values describe the channels; they do not mean that changing one channel’s setting automatically changes the other.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf My Profile has no limit option
Do not assume that a hidden option is an error or that a third-party service can unlock it. ICICI may expose the control only for eligible accounts or transaction types. Treat the amount currently displayed in the authenticated session as the applicable rule, and contact ICICI through its official customer-care or service-request channels if you need clarification.
What you can and cannot change in iMobile
For iMobile fund transfers, begin with the amount and limit displayed inside the authenticated app. The published iMobile daily fund-transfer figure is ₹20 lakh, but the bank can apply lower account- or product-specific limits. A request to change the Internet Banking limit should not be expected to alter the iMobile value.
When the app does provide a limit-management control, follow the exact amount, authentication and confirmation steps shown there. Do not rely on an old screenshot or a menu path copied from another version of the app; ICICI’s labels and available controls can change.

If no change control appears, the absence itself is useful information: your account may use a fixed rule, require bank assistance, or be governed by a product-specific limit. Record the exact limit and error message, then use an official ICICI support route rather than repeatedly submitting transfers.
How UPI limits work after registration
UPI is not simply another Internet Banking transfer mode. ICICI’s published NRI guidance states that a new UPI or VPA registration is subject to a ₹5,000 limit for the first 24 hours. Once that period ends, the cited guidance gives a normal daily UPI limit of ₹1,00,000.
When a new UPI ID is blocked
If your payment fails soon after creating or re-registering a UPI ID, check the registration time first. The restriction is measured from the new registration, not necessarily from midnight or from the date on which you first opened the bank account. Keep the registration confirmation and wait until the full 24-hour period has passed before retrying a larger payment.
Do not delete and recreate the UPI ID merely to test the limit. A fresh registration can restart the temporary restriction and make diagnosis harder. Use the existing registered ID unless ICICI specifically tells you that the registration is invalid.
Can you increase the UPI limit yourself?
ICICI’s documented material does not describe a self-service setting that raises the bank- or network-governed UPI cap. The Internet Banking My Profile control is for the applicable fund-transfer setting, not a documented override for UPI.

Customers with resident accounts should verify the amount shown in their own iMobile flow because the published ₹1,00,000 and first-day ₹5,000 figures appear on ICICI’s NRI guidance, while ICICI’s mobile-banking terms say product-specific limits are shown on the relevant service page. Account type, product, regulatory requirements and payment-network rules can therefore produce a different displayed limit.
Official iMobile path for creating or checking a UPI ID
ICICI documents this sequence for UPI setup:
- Log in to iMobile.
- Choose UPI Payments.
- Select Verify Mobile Number.
- Complete SMS Based Verification.
- Open Manage.
- Choose My Profile.
- Select Create UPI ID and choose the bank account to link.
Use the same path to confirm which UPI ID and bank account are currently registered. If the app shows a different account from the one you intended to debit, stop before authorising a payment and correct the registration or contact ICICI.
Why a UPI payment may be blocked and what to do
| Symptom | Likely explanation | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Payment fails soon after creating a UPI ID | The temporary first-24-hour UPI restriction may apply. | Check the registration time, wait for the full period, and retry within the limit shown by ICICI. |
| Small payments work but a larger one fails on day one | The transaction exceeds the temporary new-registration allowance. | Do not recreate the UPI ID; wait until the restriction expires. |
| Payment remains blocked after the first day | The cause may be an account, beneficiary, registration, risk or service issue rather than the initial cap. | Confirm the selected account and UPI ID, read the exact error, and raise an official service request. |
| Internet Banking limit changed but UPI still fails | The two channels use separate controls. | Check the UPI-specific status and limit; do not expect the Internet Banking setting to override UPI. |
| UPI registration cannot complete | Mobile-number verification or SMS-based verification has not completed, or the app is not showing the intended account. | Repeat the documented iMobile verification path once, then contact ICICI if registration still does not complete. |
| The app displays a lower limit than the published figure | Your product, account category or current rules may impose a lower limit. | Use the amount shown in your authenticated app and ask ICICI to explain the account-specific rule. |
Information to collect before contacting support
- The exact date and time the UPI ID was created or re-registered.
- The UPI ID and the bank account selected in iMobile, without sharing the UPI PIN.
- The amount, date and time of the failed payment.
- The complete error text or reference number shown by the app.
- Whether the failure occurs with one beneficiary or with every beneficiary.
- Whether Internet Banking transfers work while UPI fails, which helps distinguish channel-specific issues.
Never send a screenshot that exposes your UPI PIN, one-time password, card CVV, full card number or login credentials. Customer-care staff do not need those secrets to explain a limit or create a service request.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why your account may show a different limit
ICICI’s mobile-banking terms state that product-specific limits are displayed on the relevant service page and that the bank may increase or reduce a limit up to the amount permitted by applicable law. The practical result is that a published headline figure should be treated as an upper service reference, not as an entitlement for every account.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchDifferences can arise from the account type, resident or NRI status, the payment channel, the transaction category, beneficiary status, a newly registered UPI ID, security controls or changes required by regulation. The amount shown after you sign in is the most relevant value for that session and account.
Best Value
If you are comparing two screens, first confirm that both screens refer to the same channel, daily period, account and transaction type. A value labelled “fund transfer” should not be compared directly with a value labelled “UPI,” “card,” or “cash withdrawal.”
When to use ICICI customer care
Use official ICICI support when the documented waiting period has ended, the limit control is missing, the app shows an unexplained lower limit, or the payment is blocked for an account or beneficiary that should be eligible. ICICI’s current contact page lists 1800 1080 and directs customers to its updated contact details, service-request system or branch/helpdesk.
Reach support through the authenticated app, the bank’s official website or the phone number published on ICICI’s current contact page. Ask the representative to identify which rule is blocking the transaction: the Internet Banking transfer limit, the iMobile fund-transfer limit, the UPI registration restriction, an account-specific cap or a separate security hold.

Safe checklist before retrying a transfer
- Identify whether the payment is Internet Banking, iMobile fund transfer or UPI.
- Check the applicable daily amount in the authenticated bank interface.
- For a new UPI ID, confirm whether the first 24-hour period has elapsed.
- Verify the selected bank account, UPI ID and beneficiary.
- Read and retain the exact error message and reference number.
- Retry only after correcting the identified issue; repeated attempts can create additional declines or confusion.
- Use official ICICI support if the displayed limit and the transaction result do not match.
- Keep every PIN, OTP, CVV and password private.
Bottom line for each common question
“How do I increase my ICICI mobile transaction limit?”
For Internet Banking, sign in and use My Profile to view or submit a transfer-limit change. For iMobile, use the limit and controls displayed for your account; the published daily figure is a service reference, not a guaranteed selectable amount.
“Where can I change my ICICI transfer limit?”
ICICI specifically identifies the Internet Banking My Profile section. If the control is absent, use the displayed rule and contact the bank through an official support channel.
“Can I increase my ICICI UPI limit?”
No self-service UPI-limit increase is documented in the cited ICICI material. Verify the account-specific amount in iMobile and contact ICICI if the limit is persistently insufficient or appears incorrect.
“Why is my UPI payment blocked after registration?”
The most common documented explanation is the temporary first-day restriction on a newly registered UPI ID. Check the registration time, wait until the 24-hour period ends, and escalate through official support if the payment remains blocked afterward.
