To change Gemini’s spoken voice on Android, open the Gemini app and go to Settings > Gemini’s Voice. Choose a voice, preview it, then tap Confirm. Voice choices vary by language, and the selected voice applies to Gemini Live and other spoken responses such as Listen.
Change Gemini’s voice
- Open the Gemini app on your Android phone or tablet.
- Open the app menu or tap your profile picture or initial.
- Tap Settings > Gemini’s Voice.
- Tap a voice name to hear a preview.
- Tap Confirm to select it.
The setting applies to Gemini Apps features where Gemini responds verbally, including Gemini Live and Listen. Google notes that voice selection is unavailable in some languages, and the number of available voices differs by language. If Gemini’s Voice is missing, check the app’s language setting. See Google’s instructions for changing Gemini’s voice.
Change Gemini’s language
Language is a separate setting from spoken voice. In the Gemini app, open the menu or tap your profile picture or initial, then choose Settings > Languages and select a language. Google says this setting affects the language of menus, notifications, and other text, as well as languages used with Hey Google or the prompt microphone.
Gemini can understand and reply in supported languages when you type or speak in Gemini Live regardless of the selected app language. For details, see Google’s Gemini language instructions for Android.

Adjust Gemini Live responses
Allow or stop voice interruptions
The Interrupt Live responses setting determines whether you can interrupt Gemini by speaking while it is talking. If voice interruption is off, you can still interrupt by tapping the screen. Google explains the Live controls in its Gemini Live guide for Android.
Turn on captions and change their appearance
You can turn captions on during a Gemini Live session. To adjust caption size or style, open Gemini settings and go to Caption preferences.
