Set the screenshot dimensions
ArchiveBox’s plugin reference lists SCREENSHOT_RESOLUTION with a default of 1440,2000. Supply width and height as comma-separated numbers. To use 1920 by 1080 pixels, run:
archivebox config --set SCREENSHOT_RESOLUTION=1920,1080This is the screenshot-specific setting, so it is the appropriate choice when you want to change screenshot output dimensions without changing the shared resolution fallback.
Choose how the setting is applied
Persist it with the CLI
Run the archivebox config --set command above in the ArchiveBox environment for the collection you want to affect.

Edit the collection’s configuration file
In the data folder, add the setting under the existing [ARCHIVING_CONFIG] section in ArchiveBox.conf:

The shared RESOLUTION option is a fallback used across screenshot, PDF, and Chrome resolution settings. The documented precedence is plugin-specific setting first, corresponding shared setting second, then the plugin’s hardcoded default. Use RESOLUTION only if you intend to change that shared fallback as well as the screenshot behavior.

CHROME_RESOLUTION is documented separately as the browser viewport resolution. It is not documented as a replacement for SCREENSHOT_RESOLUTION; treat viewport changes as a separate adjustment and verify the available settings for your installed ArchiveBox version.
Wait for pages that render content late
For pages that load important text asynchronously, set SCREENSHOT_WAIT_FOR_TEXT to the text ArchiveBox should wait to find. The setting checks the page or a child frame. If the text should be sought only in frames whose URL contains a particular string, also set SCREENSHOT_WAIT_FOR_FRAME_URL. Both settings default to empty, so no text-based wait is configured by default.

Check the effective configuration
After changing a setting, query the collection’s effective value or search screenshot-related settings:
archivebox config --get SCREENSHOT_RESOLUTION
archivebox config --search screenshotIf the value differs from what you set, check for a persisted setting at a more specific scope and confirm you are running commands against the intended data folder. Configuration names and defaults can change between releases, so the installed version’s output is the useful check when a collection behaves differently from the current plugin reference.

Install and verify the Chrome runtime
The Screenshot plugin requires the Chrome plugin. ArchiveBox’s Chromium setup guide says archivebox install chrome uses a compatible browser already on the host when possible, or installs a managed Chromium build otherwise. Use archivebox version to see the selected browser version and path. The project README describes archivebox install as the command for installing extractor dependencies.
Troubleshoot common problems
- The dimensions do not take effect: Check that the value uses a comma, such as
1920,1080, and query it witharchivebox config --get SCREENSHOT_RESOLUTION. A persisted scope-specific setting may override an environment default. - The screenshot is not produced: Check whether
SCREENSHOT_ENABLEDis set totrue, then confirm the Chrome plugin and browser runtime are available witharchivebox version. - A page is captured before its content appears: Configure
SCREENSHOT_WAIT_FOR_TEXT; for text inside a particular frame, setSCREENSHOT_WAIT_FOR_FRAME_URLtoo. - A capture times out: Review
SCREENSHOT_TIMEOUT, whose documented default is 60 seconds and minimum is 5. It falls back toTIMEOUTwhen the screenshot-specific value is not supplied.
