On a Cleartrip flight booking, you can usually request a date or time amendment, while a route (sector) cannot be changed on the existing ticket. A passenger-name correction is possible only if the operating airline permits it. Cleartrip train bookings follow a different process: eligible name or boarding-station changes must be requested at a railway reservation counter, not online.
What you can change on a Cleartrip booking
The field you want to change determines who decides the request, whether it can be completed online and what you will pay. Cleartrip processes the request, but the operating airline controls flight fare rules and the railway authority controls train amendments.

How to change a Cleartrip flight date or time
Cleartrip classifies a flight date or time change as an amendment. The airline’s fare conditions decide whether the new itinerary is allowed and whether a fare difference or airline penalty applies.

Domestic flights
- Open Cleartrip Support or sign in to your Cleartrip account and open the Trips page.
- Retrieve the booking with the Trip ID and the requested one-time password (OTP) if Cleartrip asks for verification.
- Open the trip details and choose the amendment option, or call Cleartrip’s 24×7 support line.
- Tell the agent the new date or time you want. Ask for the airline’s change rule, the Cleartrip amendment fee, the airline charge and the fare difference before authorizing anything.
- Review the complete amount and the new flight details. Confirm only after checking every passenger, sector, date, time and airport.
- Save the revised itinerary. Cleartrip says it will email the amended ticket to the address used for the original booking within 60 minutes.
International flights
- Sign in to Cleartrip or open Cleartrip Support and have the Trip ID available.
- Contact support rather than relying on a self-service amendment button; Cleartrip’s workflow requires support contact for international flight changes.
- Request the new date or time and ask the agent to quote all components separately: Cleartrip’s service fee, the airline’s amendment charge, taxes and the difference between the old and new fares.
- Confirm the change after verifying passport-name spelling, travel dates, airports, connection points and the ticket’s validity.
- Wait for the amended itinerary by email. Cleartrip states that amended tickets are sent within 60 minutes of the change being made.
Current Cleartrip amendment fees
Cleartrip’s current flight FAQ lists a Cleartrip amendment fee of Rs 400 per passenger per sector for domestic bookings and INR 1000 per passenger per sector for international bookings. These are Cleartrip’s own fees, not the complete price of changing a ticket. The airline can add its charge, and the new itinerary can cost more or less than the original, creating a fare difference. The amount shown for your booking is the one to rely on because the airline, fare type, route and timing affect the calculation.
“Per passenger per sector” matters when an itinerary has several travelers or connecting sectors. Ask support how the fee is being multiplied before payment, particularly when only one traveler or one leg is changing.
Can you change the passenger name on a Cleartrip flight?
A name request is not automatically approved. Cleartrip says it can pass most spelling, title or name requests to the airline, but the airline decides whether its ticket can be corrected. A minor typographical correction may be treated differently from transferring a ticket to a completely different traveler.
What to do before requesting a correction
- Compare the ticket with the passenger’s government ID or passport, including first name, middle name, surname, title and the order in which names appear.
- Identify exactly what is wrong: a spelling error, missing or extra character, title, name order or a request to replace the traveler.
- Keep the Trip ID, passenger document and the email or phone number used at booking ready for verification.
- Do not assume that changing the name in your Cleartrip profile changes an issued ticket; the request must be made against the booking.
Requesting the change
- Open Cleartrip Support or the Trips page and retrieve the booking with the Trip ID and OTP.
- Describe the correction precisely and provide the requested identity information if Cleartrip asks for it.
- Ask Cleartrip to check the operating airline’s policy and obtain the total amount before approving the amendment.
- Review the reissued itinerary as soon as it arrives, checking every passenger’s name against the travel document.
If the airline refuses the request, Cleartrip’s stated fallback is to cancel and rebook with the correct name. Ask for the cancellation amount and the price of a new ticket before taking that step; cancelling first can leave you without a confirmed seat and does not guarantee that the replacement fare will remain available.

Can you change the route or destination?
No. Cleartrip’s flight FAQ states that you can change the date or time, but you cannot change the sector or sectors on which you are already booked. A sector is the booked origin-to-destination leg, so changing the destination, origin or routing is not a normal amendment.
What to do when the destination is wrong
- Do not confirm a date amendment expecting it to alter the route; it will keep the same booked sector.
- Contact Cleartrip with the Trip ID and ask for the cancellation rules for the existing ticket.
- Check the price and availability of a separate booking for the required route.
- Compare the cancellation cost and new fare with the value of keeping the original ticket. Have support explain any non-refundable amount, airline penalty or unused-tax treatment before you authorize cancellation.
Changing a connection or airport can also amount to a sector change. Describe the complete desired itinerary to support instead of assuming that a small routing adjustment is permitted.
What happens after a flight amendment?
Cleartrip says the amended ticket is emailed within 60 minutes to the email address used for the original booking. Keep the confirmation email and compare it with the old itinerary.

- Confirm the new date, local departure time, arrival time, airports and every connection.
- Verify the booking reference, ticket number, baggage allowance and seat or meal requests, since ancillary services may have separate rules after a reissue.
- Use the new itinerary for check-in; do not rely on the cancelled or superseded document.
If the email has not arrived after the stated 60-minute window, contact Cleartrip with the Trip ID and ask whether the ticket was actually reissued or is still pending airline confirmation.

Cancellation after an amendment
A cancellation requested after a flight has been amended must be handled by Cleartrip support. Cleartrip says the request must be made at least three hours before the amended departure time. That deadline applies to the amended itinerary, not the original schedule, so record the new departure time immediately after approval.
Ask support to state the expected refund and deductions before cancelling. The result can depend on the airline’s fare rule, the time remaining before departure, taxes and whether the ticket has already been reissued.
How to change a passenger name on a Cleartrip train booking
Cleartrip’s train FAQ says, “You cannot amend your tickets online.” An eligible passenger-name replacement is handled through the railway reservation system, not through the Cleartrip app or website.
Eligibility and limits
Cleartrip describes a limited replacement facility when an eligible blood relative will travel instead of the named passenger, subject to railway approval. It is not a general ticket transfer. The request is allowed only once per ticket and must generally be made at least 24 hours before scheduled departure.

Counter procedure
- Print the Cleartrip train e-ticket and identify the nearest railway reservation counter.
- Go to the counter at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure, allowing extra time for queues and railway processing.
- Carry the printed e-ticket, valid photo identification and proof of the blood relationship. The railway authority decides whether the documents meet its requirements.
- Request the passenger-name replacement and wait for the counter’s approval or refusal. Do not assume that submitting papers completes the change.
- Keep the endorsed or updated ticket and the documents used for the request for the journey.
If the proposed traveler is not an eligible blood relative, or if the request is made too late, the railway may refuse it. Ask the counter about the available cancellation and fresh-booking options instead of attempting an online edit that Cleartrip does not support.
Changing the boarding station on a train ticket
Boarding-station changes follow the same counter-based process as eligible passenger-name changes. Online amendments are unavailable. Take the printed e-ticket and valid identification to a railway reservation counter, make the request at least 24 hours before scheduled departure where the rule applies, and obtain the railway’s decision. Confirm that the revised boarding point is printed or otherwise recorded before travelling; a request that has not been approved is not a valid change.

This division explains why a Cleartrip agent may need to place a request on hold while waiting for airline approval, and why a train support interaction cannot substitute for the railway-counter procedure.

Information to prepare before contacting support
- Trip ID and the email address or phone number used for booking.
- Passenger names exactly as printed on the ticket and on the relevant identity document.
- Original and requested travel date, time, route and airport details.
- For international travel, passport details and the complete connection itinerary.
- For a train request, the printed e-ticket, valid photo ID and blood-relation proof where a name replacement is requested.
- A payment method for any approved fee, airline charge or fare difference.
Cleartrip’s support page lists +91 9595333333 and uses Trip ID verification. Use the contact details shown in your current Cleartrip account or support page if they differ, because contact channels and operating hours can change.

Common failure points and how to avoid them
The requested name change is actually a traveler transfer
Airlines often distinguish a spelling correction from replacing one passenger with another. State the exact request and wait for the airline’s decision; do not describe a transfer as a typo.
The fare difference is larger than expected
An amendment fee is only one component. A seat in the new date’s fare bucket may cost more, and airline charges and taxes can be added. Request an itemized quote before confirming.
The wrong route was selected
A date amendment cannot move the ticket to a new destination. Check the sector on the confirmation before paying and use the cancellation/new-booking comparison when the route is wrong.
The train request is left until the last day
Online editing is unavailable, and eligible counter requests generally need at least 24 hours before departure. Include travel time to the reservation counter and do not rely on a phone request to meet the deadline.
The new ticket email is overlooked
Search the original booking email address, including spam and filtered folders, and compare the new ticket with the old one. If it is missing after 60 minutes, ask support to verify the ticket status against the Trip ID.
Practical decision checklist
- Identify the booking type: domestic flight, international flight or train.
- Identify the field: name or title, date or time, route, or boarding station.
- Check the deadline: flight requests must be made before the relevant departure and post-amendment cancellation requires three hours before the amended departure; eligible train counter requests generally require 24 hours before departure.
- Retrieve the Trip ID and prepare identity or relationship documents where applicable.
- Ask who must approve the request: Cleartrip, the airline or railway reservation authority.
- Obtain the full amount, including service fee, airline or railway charge and fare difference, before confirming.
- Save the approved itinerary or counter-endorsed ticket and use that document for travel.
Questions to ask support before you approve
- Is this being processed as a correction, an amendment or a cancellation and rebooking?
- What is the total payable amount, and which portion is Cleartrip’s fee?
- Will the airline or railway authority need additional documents?
- What happens to seats, baggage, meals and other add-ons after reissue?
- When will the replacement ticket or written confirmation be available?
- If the request is refused, what cancellation amount and new-booking price apply?
Rules and availability can change by airline, fare, route and timing. Treat the amount and eligibility displayed for your specific Trip ID, or confirmed by Cleartrip support, as authoritative before you make a payment or cancel a ticket.
