Finish the Egghead Arc before starting Elbaf. For the manga, read chapters 1058–1126 and then continue from chapter 1127. For the anime, watch episodes 1089–1155 and then begin Elbaph with episode 1156. This order gives you the context for Gear 5, the Warrior of Liberation, and Sun God Nika before Elbaf develops those ideas further.

The shortest correct catch-up route

The official arc mapping places Egghead at manga chapters 1058–1126 and anime episodes 1089–1155. Elbaf starts in the manga at chapter 1127, while the anime uses the spelling “Elbaph” and starts that arc with episode 1156.

Format Finish Egghead Start Elbaf/Elbaph Best for
Manga Chapters 1058–1126 Chapter 1127 onward Fastest, most precise control over your progress
Anime Episodes 1089–1155 Episode 1156 onward Voice acting, music, animation and expanded scene presentation

Do not skip from an earlier arc directly to Elbaf if your goal is to understand the Sun God material. Egghead establishes the terminology and reveals that make the later discussion intelligible.

Why Egghead must come first

Egghead is where the story explicitly connects Luffy’s Gear 5 form with the Sun God Nika. In the official synopsis for anime episode 1100, Vegapunk identifies Luffy as the “Warrior of Liberation” and the “Sun God Nika.” Those labels are not decorative titles: they are the essential reference points for following later conversations about liberation, inherited history and the meaning of the Sun God.

The official episode page titled “The Secret of the Sun God” maps the Elbaf story to manga chapter 1127 onward. That placement makes the reading order practical as well as chronological: the terminology is introduced in Egghead, and Elbaf is the next story section in which the subject is developed.

This guide focuses on where to start and stop, what each format covers, and how to avoid transition mistakes. It does not claim that the ultimate Sun God reveal has already been fully explained; future story revelations and arc boundaries remain subject to change.

Manga catch-up: the fastest route

1. Start at chapter 1058

Use chapter 1058 as the official Egghead starting point for this catch-up. Read consecutively through chapter 1126. Reading the chapters in order is important because the arc’s lore, character explanations and historical clues build across the run rather than appearing in one isolated chapter.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

2. Continue with chapter 1127

Chapter 1127 is the handoff into Elbaf. There is no special side volume or recap you need to insert between the two arcs. Simply continue to the next chapter after completing 1126.

3. Understand the Volume 111 overlap

The official print catalog lists Volume 111 as Elbaf Adventure and identifies its contents as chapters 1122–1133. That means the volume straddles the end of the Egghead range and the opening chapters of Elbaf. If you are buying or borrowing collected editions, Volume 111 is not an exact “Elbaf-only” starting point: it includes the final Egghead chapters as well as the first Elbaf material.

4. Use an official digital chapter archive

VIZ maintains an English chapter archive covering the relevant range, including chapters from 1056 onward and the Elbaph-era chapters. Check the archive’s current access rules and regional availability when you read, because digital catalogs and free-reading windows can change.

Anime catch-up: the complete episode handoff

1. Finish episodes 1089–1155

The official episode mapping places the Egghead Arc across episodes 1089 through 1155. Watch the episodes in sequence, including the conclusion rather than stopping at a title that appears to resolve the main confrontation. Episode 1155 is the endpoint used by the official mapping for Egghead.

2. Start Elbaph with episode 1156

Episode 1156 is the first anime episode of Elbaph after Egghead. Toei Animation announced that the Elbaph Arc would begin airing in Japan on April 5, 2026, following the conclusion of Egghead Arc Part 2. That announcement is the clearest schedule marker for the anime transition.

3. Know how far the anime has progressed

The official episode index listed Elbaph broadcasts through episode 1180 on September 27, 2026. As of October 19, 2026, that means the anime is materially into the arc, not merely at its opening episode. The exact episode available to you can still depend on your country, service and release timing.

4. Check dub and subtitled availability separately

Toei Animation and Crunchyroll announced the final English-dub batch for Egghead—episodes 1144–1155—for March 24, 2026. The same announcement covered the Elbaph simulcast beginning April 5, 2026. Dubbed and subtitled episodes may therefore appear on different schedules, so verify the audio-language label in your service rather than assuming that every listed episode has both versions.

Choosing manga or anime

Consideration Manga Anime
Speed Fastest way to reach the current story Requires watching every released episode
Control You can stop at an exact chapter and read at your pace Progress is tied to episode length and release schedule
Presentation Original panel composition and immediate access to the next chapter Voice performances, music, motion and expanded scene presentation
Transition point Chapter 1127 Episode 1156
Availability Official English digital archive and collected print volumes are available, with regional or catalog restrictions possible Streaming territories and dub timing vary by country and date

Choose the manga if your priority is reaching Elbaf quickly or matching discussions by chapter number. Choose the anime if the emotional impact of voice acting, music and animation matters more than speed. You can also use a hybrid route: read through the Egghead range, then watch Elbaph from its first episode if you want the anime’s presentation for the new setting.

What you need to know about Sun God Nika before Elbaf

Gear 5 is the immediate connection

The relevant identity is attached to Luffy’s Gear 5 form. The official episode 1100 synopsis uses two linked descriptions: “Warrior of Liberation” and “Sun God Nika.” When later characters or explanations refer to the Sun God, they are building on this Egghead-era identification rather than introducing an unrelated new power.

The terminology has narrative meaning

“Warrior of Liberation” frames the form around freedom and liberation, while “Sun God Nika” supplies the mythic and historical name. Keeping both phrases in mind makes later dialogue easier to follow, especially when a scene uses one title without repeating the other.

Elbaf is the next stage, not a replacement origin story

The official page titled “The Secret of the Sun God” places the Elbaf story at manga chapter 1127 onward. That is why starting Elbaf first can make the subject feel unexplained: the anime and manga expect you to have completed the Egghead material that established the terms.

Do not expect a confirmed final answer from this checklist

The available official material identifies the terminology and the transition point, but it does not establish every future detail about Nika or promise a particular ultimate reveal. Treat theories about the character’s complete history as theories unless the story itself confirms them.

A spoiler-controlled reading and viewing plan

Plan A: manga-only

  1. Read chapters 1058–1126 as one continuous Egghead block.
  2. Pause after chapter 1126 if you want a clean arc break.
  3. Begin chapter 1127 for Elbaf and continue through the latest officially available chapter.
  4. If using collected editions, remember that Volume 111 contains chapters 1122–1133 and therefore crosses the break.

Plan B: anime-only

  1. Watch episodes 1089–1155 to complete Egghead.
  2. Start episode 1156 for the first Elbaph episode.
  3. Check whether your service lists subtitles and English dub as separate tracks or release entries.
  4. Compare the service’s current catalog date with the official episode index if an episode appears to be missing.

Plan C: hybrid

  1. Read the manga through chapter 1126 to cover Egghead efficiently.
  2. Start the anime at episode 1156 to experience Elbaph with animation, music and voice acting.
  3. Use chapter numbers only as a locator; the anime’s pacing and scene order can differ in presentation from the printed page.

Common transition mistakes and how to fix them

Starting at chapter 1122 because it appears in an Elbaf volume

Volume 111 is labeled “Elbaf Adventure,” but its listed chapter contents begin at 1122. Chapters 1122–1126 still belong to the official Egghead range used for this guide. If you want the exact arc boundary, finish at 1126 and start Elbaf at 1127.

Starting the anime at episode 1155

Episode 1155 is the final Egghead episode in the official mapping, not the first Elbaph episode. Watch it to complete the prior arc, then move to episode 1156.

Assuming Elbaf and Elbaph are different arcs

“Elbaf” is the manga spelling used in the chapter and volume references here. “Elbaph” appears in the anime scheduling and episode materials. The spelling difference does not indicate two separate story arcs.

Expecting every territory to receive episodes simultaneously

The Toei Animation and Crunchyroll announcement names the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Southeast Asia and Latin America among the streaming territories. It also cautions readers indirectly through the nature of streaming distribution: availability can vary by country and date. If episode 1156 or a later episode is absent, check your service’s regional catalog and release calendar before changing the catch-up order.

Relying on a remembered episode number from an older guide

Episode schedules and arc boundaries are volatile. Use the official episode index and the current listing from your service, especially if you are reading this after the September 27, 2026 listing that reached episode 1180.

Where official print and digital options fit

Print readers can use Volume 111, Elbaf Adventure, as a convenient collected-edition checkpoint, provided they account for its overlap with late Egghead. Digital readers can use the VIZ English chapter archive for chapter-level control across the transition. Neither option changes the canonical handoff: chapter 1127 is the Elbaf starting point.

Anime viewers should consult the current catalog of their licensed streaming service. The March 24, 2026 English-dub announcement and April 5, 2026 Elbaph simulcast announcement establish the published schedule, but licensing windows and territory access can change.

Final checklist before you begin Elbaf

  • You have completed manga chapter 1126 or anime episode 1155.
  • You know that chapter 1127 and episode 1156 are the respective Elbaf/Elbaph starting points.
  • You recognize Gear 5’s associated labels: “Warrior of Liberation” and “Sun God Nika.”
  • You understand that Volume 111 overlaps the transition, covering chapters 1122–1133.
  • You have checked your region’s current subtitle or dub availability.

With those checkpoints complete, begin at chapter 1127 for the fastest route or episode 1156 for the anime route. That sequence preserves the Egghead setup and puts the Elbaf Sun God material in its intended context.
