Playwright can save a viewport, a selected element, or the full scrollable page, but its cited documentation does not establish a Google-specific way to dismiss the prompt. Don’t invent a selector or alter Search results to make the screenshot look unobstructed.
Choose the screenshot that matches what you need to document
There are two different tasks that can sound like “capture Google’s screenshot.” A local browser capture records what a visitor sees on the public Search results page. Search Console’s URL Inspection screenshot shows how Google’s inspection tool renders a site-owner-controlled page. The second does not capture a public SERP.

Capture the visitor-visible SERP with Playwright
Playwright supports viewport, element, and full-page screenshots. The following Node.js example navigates to a Search URL, waits for the page’s load event, and saves the rendered page. It deliberately does not attempt to click or bypass the consent prompt. If that prompt is still visible, the file documents the obstructed state.

Choose the capture scope
- Viewport: the default
page.screenshot()captures the currently visible browser viewport. Use this when the consent prompt and the visible portion of the SERP are the evidence. - Full page: use
await page.screenshot({ path: 'serp-full.png', fullPage: true });to capture the full scrollable page. A full-page image may include more results than a visitor could see at once; it does not remove an overlay. - One element: locate a specific element and call its screenshot method, for example
await page.locator('body').screenshot({ path: 'page-element.png' });. Choose a selector only when you have established that it identifies the intended visible content in the page you are capturing.
Playwright documents these screenshot scopes and options in its screenshot guide and Page API. The examples capture what the browser rendered; they do not promise that a consent prompt will be absent.
What to do when the consent prompt remains visible
Do not describe an obstructed screenshot as a clean or unobstructed SERP. Preserve the state that was rendered, and label the image or accompanying notes accordingly. The official Playwright references cited above do not describe a Google-specific prompt-dismissal workflow or a stable selector for consent controls, so a recipe based on an assumed button name would be unreliable.

Google’s Search screenshot guidance asks publishers to show Search naturally and not modify the interface, autocomplete terms, or results. It also says not to imply Google endorses a project, and places responsibility on the user to obtain approvals for third-party content visible in screenshots. See Google’s Search guidelines.
Google states, “You don’t need to ask permission to use screenshots of the Google Search page and search results pages in print for educational or instructional purposes.” That permission statement is specifically bounded to print and educational or instructional uses; it should not be generalized to every medium or purpose. Third-party material shown in the image remains a separate rights consideration.

Use URL Inspection for a site-owner rendering question
If your real question is how Google’s inspection tool renders a page you manage, use Search Console rather than treating it as a way to capture public results. Open URL Inspection in Search Console, enter the page URL, run a live test, and view the rendered screenshot when the test succeeds and the page is reachable. Google does not make this screenshot available for an indexed-URL inspection or an unsuccessful fetch. The URL Inspection documentation explains the tool and screenshot conditions.

A prompt that covers Search in your local browser is not the same issue as a missing snippet for a result. Google explains that a robots.txt block can prevent it from crawling page content and generating a snippet even when the URL remains listed in Search. A site owner seeking a proper snippet needs to allow Googlebot to crawl the page; that does not resolve a consent prompt in an individual browser session. See Google’s snippet guidance.

For site owners, Google also cautions against redirecting all incoming requests to one page for consent collection or data provision, because Googlebot may then fetch only that page. This is a crawling and site-design concern, not a fix for a local SERP screenshot. See Google Search Central’s interstitial guidance.
