To capture a Google SERP for another country, change Google’s desktop Region Settings, run the same query, and save the results page. For a useful SEO comparison, also control or record language, location, device, and capture time: a screenshot records one search in one context, not a universal ranking for everyone in that country.
Set up a fair country-by-country comparison
Before capturing anything, decide what you are comparing. Use the same exact query and Google Search result type for each country. Decide whether you need a broad country-level view or a city- or postcode-specific local search.
- Query: Keep wording and spelling identical unless query localization is itself what you are testing.
- Country: Set the intended region in Google Search.
- Language: Record display language and results language separately. The query’s language can matter too.
- Location: For local-intent searches, specify the target town or postcode in a location-aware workflow where possible; a country setting alone does not establish a precise city-level simulation.
- Device: Keep desktop and mobile captures separate.
- Time: Record the date and time, since results can change.
Google documents that result presentation can vary by device, country, query language, and other factors. Its help page also explains that location can affect results. A capture log makes those conditions visible rather than implying that one screenshot represents every searcher. Google’s visual elements guidance and help on why results differ describe this variability.
See results for a different country in Google Search
- On a computer, open Google Search and open Settings.
- Scroll to Region Settings.
- Select the country or region you want to inspect, then save.
- Check language settings separately. Google distinguishes display language from results language and region; use Google Search Settings to review the available controls.
- Enter the exact query and capture the results page, including the query and visible result layout.
- Repeat for each country with the same query, language choices, device, and approximate capture time. Label each image with the conditions used.
Google’s procedure is intended to let computer users choose results for other countries; it is useful for a manual, country-level snapshot. It does not establish a way to reproduce every individual searcher’s location, personalization, or full context. See Google’s instructions for seeing results for a different country.

Keep a capture log

This is a practical record-keeping checklist, not a Google-prescribed standard. Its purpose is to make later comparisons interpretable.
Choose a workflow for the amount of tracking you need
Manual Google settings for occasional snapshots
Use the Region Settings method when you need a small number of one-off country comparisons. It is direct, but you must repeat the setup and preserve the context yourself. For city-level local searches, do not treat a country selection as proof that the page reflects a particular town or postcode.

Location-specific rank tracking for repeatable reports
If you need recurring observations or many keywords, a tracker can configure locations and retain report screenshots. BrightLocal documents country selection and a search location such as a postcode or town for Local Rank Tracker reports. It says report screenshots are stored for 45 days; that retention period is BrightLocal’s documented capability, not an independent comparison of tracker services. Search Console for your site’s country-level performance
Google Search Console’s Performance report can group your site’s search data by country and report clicks, impressions, click-through rate, and average position. Those are aggregated performance metrics, not a visual record of the precise SERP one person saw at a particular moment. Use it to analyze site performance by country, not as a substitute for a SERP screenshot. Details are in Google’s Performance report help.

Compare screenshots without overclaiming
Describe what appeared in the captured page under its recorded conditions. Avoid saying a result is the definitive ranking for an entire country: Google says result appearance can vary with country, device, query language, location, and other context. If a tracker and a manual search disagree, first align query, country or location, language, device, and capture time as closely as you can. Differences may remain as results change or because the contexts are not identical.

Troubleshooting common comparison problems
- The page still looks like the original country: Confirm that you saved the new Region Settings selection before running the query. Record the selected region with the capture.
- Results appear in an unexpected language: Check display language and results language separately, and consider the query language. Do not infer results language from the interface language alone.
- A local result does not match the target city: Country-level settings do not document precise city simulation. Use a location-specific tracker configured with the intended town or postcode, and label the location.
- Desktop and mobile captures differ: Record device type and compare like with like; Google notes that presentation can vary by device.
- A later capture no longer matches: Compare timestamps and recorded settings before interpreting the difference. A SERP screenshot is a time-specific observation.
- Search Console numbers do not match a screenshot position: Search Console reports aggregated site performance by dimensions such as country; it is not a retained visual copy of an individual SERP.
