For a small list, use Browshot’s /api/v1/screenshot/multiple endpoint and repeat the url parameter for each page. Browshot documents a limit of 10 URLs and 10 browser instances per request—up to 100 URL-and-instance combinations. For larger lists, submit a text file with one URL per line to its batch endpoint instead.

These limits and workflows are described in Browshot’s API documentation. The multiple endpoint’s 10-by-10 ceiling is not an unlimited-list facility. If your job exceeds it, split the work into batches or use the file-based route.
Capture a short list with repeated URL parameters
Send one request to the multiple endpoint, repeating url for each page. Use the same instance_id for every URL if you want the same browser instance, or repeat instance IDs when you want captures across multiple instances. This is an illustrative request shape; use your own Browshot API key and an instance ID available to your account.

With multiple instances, the documented ceiling is up to 100 URL-and-instance combinations. Check the response for the screenshot request identifiers, then check each request’s status and retrieve its output after it finishes. Browshot documents states including in_queue, processing, finished, and error; a successful submission does not necessarily mean the image is ready immediately.

Choose capture size, cache behavior, and delay
size=screenis the documented default. Usesize=pagewhen you want the full page rather than the visible screen.- The cache can reuse a recent screenshot of the same URL and instance. Set
cache=0when you need a fresh capture rather than a cached result. - A post-load delay can give page JavaScript additional time to run before capture. Browshot’s mirrored documentation shows differing maximum delay ranges, so consult the API reference you are using rather than relying on an assumed upper limit.
These options are documented by Browshot; parameter availability and accepted values should be checked in the current API reference before using them in production.
Submit a large URL list as a batch
For a larger job, create a plain-text file with one complete URL on each line, then upload it to /api/v1/batch/create. The batch route requires an instance ID and uses a multipart form upload. Its input is not a repeated list of URL parameters.

The batch endpoint’s exact upload field names and response structure should be taken from Browshot’s current API documentation; they are not reproduced here because the available documentation summary does not establish them.
Browshot’s September 2020 blog post says temporary URL availability failures in batch jobs are retried up to three times before giving up: Browshot’s blog. This retry note concerns temporary URL failures, not a guarantee that every failed capture will eventually succeed.

Track completion and handle failed captures
- Save the screenshot IDs or batch identifier returned by Browshot when you submit the work.
- Check request or batch status. For individual requests, expect states such as
in_queueandprocessingbeforefinished; inspect anyerrorstate rather than treating submission as completion. - Retrieve individual images only after their requests finish. For batch work, retrieve the archive when Browshot marks the batch complete.
- If a URL fails, confirm that it is publicly reachable and correctly formed, then retry as appropriate. A temporary availability issue may be retried by Browshot during batch processing, but the blog-described retry behavior is not a promise of success.
Common problems and fixes
- The request rejects too many URLs or instances: Keep each multiple request within 10 URL parameters and 10 instance parameters. Split the list or use batch upload for a larger job.
- A submitted screenshot is not downloadable yet: Check its status and wait while it is queued or processing; retrieve it after it reaches
finished. - The capture shows an older page: A recent capture may have been served from cache. Request
cache=0when you require a fresh capture. - The page is captured before its content appears: Add a post-load delay so client-side JavaScript has more time to run. Verify the current accepted delay range in Browshot’s API reference.
- The batch upload fails: Confirm you are using the batch route, uploading a text file with one URL per line, and supplying the required instance ID. Follow the current documentation for the multipart field names.
- A batch URL fails temporarily: Browshot’s 2020 blog describes up to three retries for temporary URL availability problems. Check the final batch status and handle failures that remain.
Cost and planning notes
The documentation used here establishes endpoint limits and workflow, but does not establish current pricing or account-specific balance requirements. Check your Browshot account and current API documentation for those details before estimating the cost of a large run. For reliability, retain the submitted IDs, poll status rather than assuming immediate completion, and distinguish a fresh capture from a cached response.
