To capture a Hindi web page with Microlink, send the page URL with screenshot=true, request Hindi using an Accept-Language: hi header if the site supports language negotiation, and wait for a selector that confirms the Hindi content has rendered. Microlink returns screenshot details and a hosted image URL. Check the image for missing Devanagari characters; its reviewed documentation does not guarantee a particular Hindi-capable font.

Make a basic Microlink screenshot request

Microlink’s screenshot API accepts a target url and a screenshot parameter. The following cURL request asks for a screenshot and skips metadata extraction, which Microlink says is usually the largest speed improvement when you only need the image. Microlink API: screenshot Screenshot guide

curl -G 'https://api.microlink.io'
  --data-urlencode 'url=https://example.in/hindi-page'
  --data 'screenshot=true'
  --data 'meta=false'

Replace the example URL with the Hindi page you want to capture. Passing parameters separately lets cURL encode the nested target URL. A successful default response is JSON; use data.screenshot.url rather than constructing or guessing an image-hosting URL. The screenshot object can also contain metadata such as type, size, width, and height.

Choose screenshot options

screenshot=true uses Microlink’s defaults. The object form lets you choose capture settings, including full-page capture and image type. For example, the documented JavaScript SDK can request a full-page PNG:

const result = await microlink.screenshot('https://example.in/hindi-page', {
  fullPage: true,
  type: 'png',
  meta: false
})
console.log(result.url)

Microlink documents options including full-page or element capture, output type, and quality. Consult the screenshot parameter reference for the current option names and supported values.

Ask the site for Hindi

When a site chooses its language from HTTP headers, pass Accept-Language: hi as a public header value. Microlink describes language as an example of a public header value in its guide to header handling. Screenshot pages behind a login with cookies or tokens

The header is a request to the target site, not a translation instruction. A site may ignore it, choose language from a cookie, or rely on a language-specific URL or on-page control. If it provides a Hindi route, use that route. If it requires a language selector, interact with it before capture and wait for a heading or other element that is specific to the Hindi content.

Do not place passwords, tokens, or other secrets in query strings. Microlink documents sensitive header values using x-api-header-*; its authenticated-page workflow requires a Pro plan according to that guide. Check the current plan requirements for your request. A public language preference is not a secret.

Wait until the Hindi content is actually rendered

Navigation can finish before a client-rendered app has loaded its text. Prefer a selector that proves the intended Hindi content is present over an arbitrary delay. Microlink supports selector and lifecycle waits, scrolling, and clicking; a selector is generally the clearest readiness condition. Screenshot JavaScript-rendered pages once the content is ready

const result = await microlink.screenshot('https://example.in/hindi-page', {
  waitUntil: 'domcontentloaded',
  waitForSelector: 'main h1',
  fullPage: true
})

Choose a selector that identifies the Hindi content, not merely a generic page shell. If the language appears only after opening a menu or tab, trigger that interaction first, then wait for an element containing or identifying the desired content. Use a fixed wait such as waitForTimeout only when there is no reliable selector. Scrolling can trigger lazy-loaded sections, and clicking can reveal a language menu or tab.

For a screenshot of just one part of a page, use the screenshot option that targets a CSS selector; see the current parameter reference for its exact syntax.

Check Devanagari rendering

Inspect the resulting image at its actual size. Look for empty squares in place of letters, broken conjuncts, misplaced matras, or unexpected fallback fonts. The reviewed Microlink documentation describes CSS injection but does not publish a Hindi-specific font inventory or guarantee that a particular Devanagari font is installed. If glyphs are missing, ensure the rendered page can load a font with Devanagari coverage. Microlink’s documented style injection can set an appropriate font-family, but the font must be reachable by the rendering browser; style injection alone does not provide a font. Capture again and verify the actual output.

Return JSON or a direct image

Use the default JSON response when your application needs the screenshot URL together with its metadata. When a page needs an image response for markup, Microlink documents embed=screenshot.url as a direct-image delivery option. Screenshot guide

A manually constructed request URL needs the target URL encoded as a query parameter:

https://api.microlink.io?url=https%3A%2F%2Fexample.in%2Fhindi-page&screenshot=true&meta=false&embed=screenshot.url

Use a URL-encoding function or pass parameters through your HTTP client rather than concatenating an unencoded target URL. Check Microlink’s current documentation for quota, caching, and plan details before relying on them in production.

Choose the right capture approach

Decision Use this Why
Preview versus entire page Viewport for a preview; fullPage for the full scrollable page A full-page capture includes content beyond the initial viewport; lazy content may require scrolling or other readiness handling.
JSON versus direct image JSON and data.screenshot.url when code needs metadata; embed=screenshot.url for a direct image response The appropriate response depends on whether the next step needs metadata or image markup.
Hindi URL/control versus header Use the site’s Hindi URL or language control when it has one; otherwise try Accept-Language: hi if it negotiates language by header The site determines how it selects language; the header cannot translate a page.
Selector versus fixed wait Wait for a content-specific selector when possible; use a timer only when no reliable condition exists A selector indicates that the intended content has appeared rather than assuming a fixed load duration.

Troubleshoot common capture problems

The screenshot is still in another language

  • Cause: The site ignores Accept-Language or selects locale from a URL, cookie, or on-page setting.
  • Fix: Use the Hindi URL or interact with the language control, then wait for a Hindi-specific heading or content element.

The screenshot shows a blank shell or misses text

  • Cause: Navigation completed before the app rendered its content, or the page loads sections lazily.
  • Fix: Wait for a selector that identifies the intended content. If necessary, scroll to trigger lazy sections or click the control that reveals the text.

Hindi characters appear as squares or look broken

  • Cause: The rendered page may not have access to a suitable Devanagari font, or its fallback font may not render the glyphs correctly.
  • Fix: Make a Devanagari-capable font reachable to the rendering browser, optionally set its family using CSS injection, and inspect a new screenshot. Do not assume Microlink provides a specific font.

The API request fails or the image URL is missing

  • Cause: The target URL may be malformed, parameters may not be encoded correctly, or the response may not be the successful JSON shape expected by the application.
  • Fix: Pass the target URL as an encoded parameter, inspect the actual API response and error details, and only read data.screenshot.url after confirming that the screenshot object is present.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its documented API returns a screenshot from one GET request; clean shots remove cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture, and bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are not billed. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for AI agents. Here is the cURL call; replace the example URL and supply your API key:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.in/hindi-page -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo free.
