Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallTo capture every item an infinite-scroll page makes available, repeatedly scroll the element that actually owns the scrolling, wait for the page’s own loading or completion signal, and collect each newly rendered batch. Merge records by a stable key and stop only when the page signals that it has reached the end—or report clearly that a bounded no-progress fallback was used. Playwright supplies the scrolling and locator tools; each site defines its own reliable end condition.
What “every item” means
This method collects matching records that the page renders for the current session, filters, permissions, and access rights. It cannot guarantee records the site never renders, content behind a login, or items excluded by filters. Some pages recycle or remove old DOM rows as you scroll, so a final snapshot may contain only the currently mounted items; collect and retain records throughout the traversal.
Before automating, comply with the site’s terms, access controls, and rate limits. Do not bypass login or technical restrictions.
Prepare the page and selectors
- Navigate to the page. Use the appropriate Playwright page navigation for your application and wait for the page state your workflow requires.
- Identify the repeated item. Choose a locator for one record and determine a stable unique key, such as its link URL or a site-provided ID. Prefer roles or text when they describe the item reliably; use a site-specific CSS selector or test ID if the page has no suitable accessible contract. Structural CSS and XPath selectors can be brittle when the DOM changes.
- Find the actual scrolling element. Check whether the document scrolls or a nested panel does. A changing
scrollTopor scroll height can help identify the element. Scrolling the window will not advance a list inside an independently scrollable container. - Identify a loading or terminal signal. Look for a loading indicator, an item count, an end marker, or page/cursor state that advances and eventually indicates exhaustion. Decide how the script will distinguish a real end from a timeout or failed load.
Scroll the page that owns the list
Playwright’s scrolling guide describes manually scrolling to force an infinite list to load more. Its available approaches serve different page behaviors; none is universally best. See the Playwright scrolling guide for documented examples.

| Approach | Use it when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
Bring a bottom sentinel or known element into view with scrollIntoViewIfNeeded() |
The page has a useful element near the end of the list that triggers loading when it enters view. | Convenient when such an element exists; it does not replace waiting for the site’s load signal. |
Use mouse.wheel() |
You want wheel input, or page behavior depends on user-like input. For a nested container, hover the container before sending the wheel event. | Target the right area and allow the page’s own loading behavior to run. |
Set a known container’s scrollTop with locator.evaluate() |
You know which element scrolls and want precise control over that container. | This directly changes the DOM scroll position rather than simulating wheel input. |
For a document-scrolling list, bringing a bottom sentinel or known footer into view can trigger another batch. For a nested list, operate on that container. The right choice depends on how the site listens for scroll and loading events.
Collect each batch and stop on evidence
- Collect the currently rendered items. Extract each item’s stable key and the fields you need. Use
locator.evaluateAll()when you want to run an extraction function over all matching elements at the moment it executes. - Scroll the correct target. Use the sentinel, wheel input, or container
scrollTopmethod that matches the page. - Wait for a meaningful state change. Prefer a loading indicator disappearing, a count increasing, an end marker appearing, or a cursor/page state advancing. A fixed sleep is a fallback, not proof that loading completed.
- Collect again and merge by key. Deduplicate items using the stable identifier. This retains earlier records when the page virtualizes its list or replaces DOM nodes.
- Stop when the page establishes completion. An explicit end marker or exhausted cursor is stronger evidence than reaching the visual bottom. If you must use repeated no-progress attempts, cap them deliberately and treat the result as uncertain unless the site independently signals completion.
locator.all() returns locators for elements present at the time it is called; it does not wait for future items. Playwright warns that using it on a changing list can produce unpredictable results, and recommends waiting for the dynamic list to become stable before using it. Likewise, a single call to evaluateAll() describes the current matches, not items that may load later. See the Locator API reference and Playwright locators guide.

Choose a completion condition
| Signal | How to interpret it |
|---|---|
| Explicit end marker or exhausted cursor | Best evidence that the page’s own pagination or loading mechanism has no more items to provide. |
| Loading indicator ends and item count increases | Evidence that a batch loaded; continue until a terminal signal or a bounded fallback applies. |
| Repeated no-progress attempts | A fallback policy only. No progress might mean a slow network, wrong scroll target, or failed load rather than completion. |
| Fixed delay | Least informative on its own: the delay passing does not establish that the page finished loading. |
Log the observed progress and whether the run ended through a page signal, a bounded no-progress policy, timeout, or error. If the site exposes no trustworthy end condition, describe the result as a best-effort traversal rather than claiming it is complete. Compare against a site-provided total count where available.
Common problems and fixes
- The list does not advance: The document may not own the scroll. Inspect the nested panel’s scroll position and operate on that locator; for wheel input, hover the container first.
- Only the initial rows are collected: The extraction ran once before later content loaded. Wait for a site-specific state transition, then extract again.
- The final output loses earlier rows: The page may virtualize its list and remove old rows from the DOM. Accumulate each batch in memory or persistent storage and deduplicate by a stable key.
- The script stops too early: One quick no-progress pass is not proof of completion. Check for a slow request, failed loading, the wrong scroll target, or a genuine terminal marker; use a deliberate bounded retry policy.
- The script never stops: Define a stopping rule before running, cap consecutive no-progress attempts, and treat hitting that cap as an incomplete or uncertain run rather than as a confirmed end.
- Selectors break after a site update: Prefer stable accessible roles, labels, or test IDs where available. Recheck CSS selectors against the current page structure.

For a single clean webpage screenshot, ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request API at screenshotneo.com. It is a screenshot API and MCP server—not a substitute for traversing and extracting records from an infinite list. Its capture options include full-page screenshots with lazy images loaded, but a screenshot does not provide a verified dataset of every record in a virtualized list.
