To capture a webpage beyond the visible browser window in desktop Chrome, open DevTools, open its Run command menu, search for screenshot, and choose Capture full size screenshot. This procedure is described in a Google Chrome Help Community answer, not a guaranteed, permanently current Chrome support workflow, so inspect the saved file afterward.
On Android, Chrome provides an official long-screenshot path: open the page, tap More next to the address bar, choose Share, select Long screenshot, adjust the crop handles, then confirm and save or share the image.

Capture a full webpage on desktop Chrome
Chrome DevTools is built into the browser, so this method does not require a separate screenshot application. The exact full-page command below comes from Google Chrome Help Community guidance. Google notes that community answers may not be verified or up to date; menu names or behavior can therefore differ between Chrome versions.
- Open the webpage you want to save in Chrome and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Open DevTools. Right-clicking the page and choosing Inspect is one way to open it; keyboard shortcuts and Chrome menus vary by operating system.
- Open the DevTools Run command menu.
- Type screenshot in the command search.
- Choose Capture full size screenshot.
- Open the downloaded image and check the beginning, middle, and end of the page before using it in a document or publication.
The command is intended to capture the page beyond the current viewport. It does not establish a universal guarantee for every website: pages with unusual scrolling containers, animations, lazy content, access checks, or changing data can produce different results. The Chrome DevTools overview establishes that DevTools is included in Chrome, while the full-size command sequence is community-described.

When the capture is incomplete
- Scroll through the page once before capturing if images or sections load only after scrolling.
- Wait for fonts, images, embedded media, and client-rendered text to finish loading.
- Pause animations or close transient overlays when they obscure content.
- Confirm that the page itself, rather than an inner scrolling panel, is the area you intend to preserve.
- Open the saved file at 100% or higher zoom. A long image may be technically complete but difficult to read until it is resized or split for its final destination.
Capture an entire webpage in Chrome on Android
Chrome’s Android share menu includes a Long screenshot option. It lets you choose how much of the page to include with crop handles.
- Open the webpage in Chrome.
- Tap More next to the address bar.
- Tap Share.
- Select Long screenshot.
- Drag the crop handles until the selected area covers the required length.
- Tap Confirm, then share or save the resulting image.
This is an official Chrome Help route for Android. The available labels can vary with Android and Chrome releases, device manufacturer changes, or the page being viewed. If Long screenshot is absent, use the device’s system screenshot feature instead.
Use Android’s “Capture more” option
Android 12 and later support scrolling screenshots on most screens that allow scrolling. This is a system feature rather than a Chrome-only command.
- Open the webpage and position it where you want the capture to begin.
- Take a normal screenshot using your device’s screenshot controls.
- Tap Capture more in the screenshot preview.
- Adjust the crop guidelines to include the content you need.
- Save or share the finished screenshot.
“Most screens that allow scrolling” is the documented scope, not a promise that every Chrome page or embedded view will support it. If the control does not appear, the screen or application may not expose a compatible scrolling surface; try Chrome’s More > Share > Long screenshot route.

Prepare a capture for documents or publication
A browser screenshot is an image, not a print-layout file. Before inserting it into a report, ticket, article, or presentation, decide whether readers need one very tall image or several readable sections.
- Review boundaries: make sure the top navigation, main content, footer, and any required legal text are present.
- Check dynamic material: timestamps, rotating banners, ads, cookie dialogs, and personalized content can change between viewing and capture.
- Crop deliberately: remove browser chrome or unrelated blank space, but retain enough context to identify the page.
- Resize for readability: shrinking a long screenshot to fit a page can make text illegible. Split it into sections when necessary.
- Check privacy: redact account names, addresses, tokens, order details, and other personal information before sharing.
Troubleshooting full-page captures
The Run command does not open
Confirm that DevTools has focus, then look for its command menu rather than Chrome’s address-bar search. If the interface has moved in your Chrome build, open DevTools through the browser’s developer-tools menu and search within DevTools for “screenshot.” Because the exact command is community-described, the label may not be identical in every release.
Only the visible area appears
Repeat the command and verify that you selected Capture full size screenshot, not a viewport-only screenshot. Let the page finish loading first. Pages that place content inside an independently scrolling element may not behave like one continuously scrolling document.
Images or sections are missing
Scroll through the page to trigger lazy loading, wait for network activity to settle, and capture again. If content requires a click, sign-in, consent choice, or other interaction, complete that interaction before starting the capture.

The Android Long screenshot option is missing
Use the device screenshot controls and look for Capture more. Android documents that feature for Android 12 and later on most scrollable screens. If neither option appears, the current screen may not support scrolling capture.
The file looks distorted or is difficult to use
Open the saved image independently and inspect it at normal size. Re-capture after closing overlays or stopping animation, then crop or divide the result for the destination document. The available guidance does not specify a universal maximum image dimension or guarantee identical rendering on every site.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF, and it can capture full pages while loading lazy images. It removes cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, with the result identified by X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. Its MCP tools—take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf—allow Claude, Cursor, or another MCP client to request captures.
For a direct call, see the ScreenshotNeo documentation. This cURL example saves a WebP response:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
The same request in Python:
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
And in Node.js:
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
ScreenshotNeo also supports CSS-selector element capture, dark mode, device presets and custom viewports, retina scale, custom CSS and JavaScript, click-before-capture actions, hidden selectors, selector or network-idle waits, request and resource blocking, custom headers/cookies/user agents, authorization, timezone and geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, chosen cache TTLs, signed image links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture for up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API, and an OpenAPI specification. Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work for easier migration.
Every plan includes all features. The Free plan provides 1,000 shots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Higher plans are Starter ($5/3,000), Growth ($15/15,000), Pro ($39/60,000), Scale ($99/250,000), and Business ($249/1,000,000); yearly billing gives two months free.

Frequently asked questions
Does a full-page screenshot include content below a fold?
The desktop DevTools command is intended to capture the full page, while Android’s Long screenshot and Capture more let you choose additional content with crop controls. Always inspect the saved result.
Recommended Free Tools
Can I capture a page that requires scrolling?
Yes, when the page exposes a compatible scrolling surface. Android’s system feature is documented for most scrollable screens, not all screens.
Should I use a screenshot or a PDF?
Use an image when you need a visual record of the rendered page. Use a PDF when your workflow requires selectable text, pagination, or document-oriented output; ScreenshotNeo’s API includes PDF capture.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will Chrome preserve clickable links in a full-page screenshot?
No. The result is an image, so links are visual rather than interactive. Keep the original URL alongside the image when readers need navigation.
Can I capture a page while signed in?
You can capture the page after completing its sign-in flow in Chrome, subject to the site’s permissions and any content that loads only for that session.
