An extension such as GoFullPage is useful when you specifically want its image/PDF workflow, but availability and behavior can vary by device, market and Edge version.
Capture a full webpage with Edge’s built-in Screenshot
- Open the target webpage in Microsoft Edge and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S. Edge opens its Screenshot tool. You can also open Screenshot from the page’s right-click menu or through Edge Settings. See Microsoft’s current feature description at Microsoft Edge Screenshot.
- Select Capture full page. Edge captures content extending below the visible viewport instead of only the area currently on screen.
- Review the capture. Use the available markup controls if you need to annotate it, then choose the command to copy it or save it as a file.
The exact controls can differ with Edge updates, operating system, device and market. If the shortcut does nothing, open the Screenshot command through the right-click menu or Settings instead.
What Edge’s native capture can and cannot do
- It captures beyond the viewport: the page is captured as one full-page result rather than a single screenful.
- You can copy or save: use the result for a message, document, bug report or local archive.
- Markup is available: annotate the capture before sharing when the tool presents those controls.
- No installation is required: this is the simplest route for ordinary full-page images.
- Availability is not universal: Microsoft notes that feature availability and functionality may vary by device, market and browser version.
When an Edge extension makes sense
An add-on is optional, not a prerequisite. Consider one when you want a dedicated toolbar button, a workflow centered on downloading images or PDFs, or behavior that fits a particular team’s process. Check the extension’s current permissions, publisher information and compatibility with your Edge installation before installing.
GoFullPage – Full Page Screen Capture
The Microsoft Edge Add-ons listing for GoFullPage – Full Page Screen Capture says that activating the extension makes it scroll through visible page sections and assemble a full-page capture. Its listing describes downloading the result as an image or PDF. It also warns that exceptionally large pages may be split into images in separate tabs. Those are the publisher’s listing claims, not an independent accuracy or reliability test.

Install, enable and remove an extension
- Open the GoFullPage listing in Edge Add-ons and review its description, permissions and compatibility.
- Select the option to get or add the extension, then confirm Edge’s installation prompt.
- When installation finishes, open the Extensions button beside the address bar and pin the extension if you want a persistent toolbar icon.
- Navigate to the page, select the extension icon and follow its capture prompt. Keep the tab active until the scrolling and assembly finish.
- To stop using it, open Edge’s Extensions management page, turn it off, or remove it. Microsoft documents these controls in Add, turn off or remove extensions in Microsoft Edge.

Neither option should be assumed to be more accurate or reliable without testing the specific site and page. Choose the native tool when you want the fewest moving parts; choose an extension when its export workflow or dedicated controls solve a requirement you actually have.
Prepare the page before capturing
Full-page tools reproduce what they can render. A few preparation steps prevent misleading results:
- Wait for content: let images, charts and embedded components finish loading. If the page loads content only after scrolling, the final result may depend on how the chosen tool scrolls.
- Set the intended state: choose the correct account, language, theme, zoom level and responsive layout before starting.
- Dismiss obstructions: close cookie notices, newsletter dialogs and chat panels if they cover content you need. Do not capture confidential information that appears in the page.
- Check page length: extremely long documents can create very large files or, with some extensions, multiple output images.
- Preserve evidence: for a bug report, record the URL and time separately because a screenshot alone may not show dynamic data or later changes.
Troubleshooting full-page captures
The shortcut does not open Screenshot
Use the webpage’s right-click menu or locate Screenshot in Edge Settings. A managed computer, another application’s shortcut, an outdated browser build or device-specific availability can affect keyboard access. Update Edge through its Help and feedback menu if your organization permits updates, then try again.
Only the visible area is captured
Confirm that you selected Capture full page, not a region or visible-area mode. If you are using an extension, activate its capture command from the Extensions menu rather than a generic operating-system screenshot shortcut.

The page contains blank sections or missing images
Wait for lazy-loaded media and dynamic widgets to finish. Reload the page, temporarily disable interfering extensions, and capture again. Some content is generated only after interaction, requires a signed-in session, or is blocked by network policy; a screenshot tool cannot render content the browser never receives.
The extension stops while scrolling
Very long or continuously updating pages can change while the extension is assembling sections. Stop auto-refreshing feeds where possible, close unnecessary tabs, and retry after the page stabilizes. Check the listing’s current notes and permissions. For exceptionally large pages, expect that the GoFullPage listing says output may be split into separate image tabs.
The saved file is too large to share
Save in the format and dimensions your destination accepts, or use an image editor to resize a copy. Keep an original untouched file when the capture is evidence. A PDF may be easier to distribute for a long document, while a raster image is often simpler for chat and issue trackers.
Private or protected content is missing
Make sure the page is fully authenticated in the same Edge profile that performs the capture. Corporate policies, cross-origin frames, bot checks and content-security restrictions can prevent a component from rendering. Never paste credentials into an extension prompt; use only the normal site sign-in flow.

Cost, reliability and privacy considerations
- Local Edge capture: there is no separate screenshot-service charge, but the result depends on your browser session, device resources and network.
- Extensions: review requested permissions and remove add-ons you no longer need. A page capture can include account data, personal information or internal URLs.
- Automation: an API is easier to repeat and monitor, but protect API keys, respect site terms and rate limits, and store returned files securely.
