To capture a website with a specific banner ad visible, open the page, wait until that creative is actually rendered, and then capture either the visible viewport/selected region or the entire page. A screenshot records the impression that appeared; browser or API settings cannot command an ad network to deliver a particular creative.
For a one-off capture, Microsoft Edge’s Screenshot tool is the shortest route. For repeatable jobs, use an automated renderer with ad blocking disabled, a suitable viewport, and a wait condition or delay. Always inspect the resulting image because ad delivery can differ between visits.
What “a specific banner ad” means in practice
There are two different goals:
- Capture any banner advertising on a page: wait for an ad slot to fill, then save the rendered page.
- Capture one particular creative: keep refreshing or retrying only until that exact ad is visible, then capture it. The reviewed browser and screenshot documentation does not describe a control that selects a campaign, advertiser, or creative for you.
Capture controls determine when and how much of the rendered page is recorded. They do not guarantee that an advertising exchange will return a chosen impression. A later visit may show a different creative, an empty slot, or no ad at all.
Choose the image scope before you capture

Manual method in Microsoft Edge
- Open the target URL. Use a normal browsing window and wait for the page to finish its initial load.
- Wait for the ad slot. Keep the intended banner in view until the image, text, and branding of the desired creative are visible. If the slot remains empty, a screenshot command cannot make an ad appear.
- Check the capture scope. Scroll the target into view for a viewport capture. If it is elsewhere or the record must include the whole page, choose full-page mode.
- Start Screenshot. In Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S or open the browser menu and choose Screenshot. Select the full-page or selected-area option documented by Microsoft.
- Select and save. For a selected-area image, drag around the banner and enough surrounding page to identify its placement. Save the file or copy it to the clipboard.
- Inspect the saved image. Confirm that the exact creative, not merely an empty ad container or a different rotation, is present. Record the URL and capture time alongside the file if the image is evidence for a workflow.
Edge’s tool captures what the browser rendered at that moment. It does not freeze an ad auction or make the same campaign appear on the next visit.

Automated capture workflow
Automation is useful when you need the same URL and capture settings repeatedly. Choose a service that renders the page’s HTML and JavaScript, then configure the request around the ad’s loading behavior.
1. Keep advertising enabled
Verify that the service’s ad-blocking control is disabled. Capture’s screenshot options document blockAds as false by default; still set or verify the value explicitly because defaults and interfaces can change. Enabling ad blocking defeats the purpose of recording a banner.
2. Set a viewport that matches the ad
Use desktop dimensions for a desktop leaderboard and a mobile viewport for a mobile creative. A responsive site can choose a different ad for each width, so the viewport is part of the test condition.
3. Wait for rendering
Use a selector wait when the ad container has a reliable selector, or use a delay when the advertising script has no stable element to wait for. A wait gives JavaScript and network requests time to run; it cannot guarantee ad delivery.

4. Select full-page or viewport output
Use full-page mode when the target is below the fold or when the entire document matters. Use viewport or element/region output when the banner is already visible and you want a compact image.
5. Render, then verify
Save the response, open the image, and check the actual creative. If the slot is blank or shows another ad, retrying later may produce a different impression, but the capture settings themselves do not select the desired campaign.

The image shows an empty ad slot
The ad was not delivered during that page impression. Confirm that ad blocking is off, wait longer, and retry. A delay can help scripts finish, but no screenshot API setting guarantees an ad response.

A different creative appears
Ad selection can vary by visit, viewport, geography, cookies, and timing. Capture only after the intended creative is visibly present; do not treat a configured URL as proof that the chosen campaign was served.
The banner is cut off
Use a wider viewport, scroll it fully into view before a manual selection, or switch from a tight region to viewport/full-page output. Recheck responsive breakpoints if desktop and mobile layouts differ.
The capture finishes before the banner loads
Replace a fixed short delay with a selector wait when the ad container has a dependable selector. If no stable selector exists, increase the delay and inspect several outputs to find a practical rendering window.

Full-page output omits content
Some pages load sections only after scrolling. Use a renderer that supports full-page capture and lazy-image loading, or capture the relevant viewport after manually scrolling through the page.
A bot check or blank page is captured
