For a screenshot that matches what is currently visible, use FireShot’s Capture Selection mode. FireShot says this mode minimally handles fixed and sticky elements so the capture reflects what is shown; it does not promise to remove a sticky header or make every full-page capture work. If you need the whole page, use full-page capture and troubleshoot separately if it stops at the first viewport.
Choose the capture mode for the result you need
FireShot offers visible-area, selection, and full-page capture. Pick based on whether you need the current screen, a region, or content farther down the page. These modes address different capture scopes; none guarantees identical sticky-header behavior on every site.
| What you need | FireShot mode to try | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| The page as it looks in the current viewport | Capture Selection | FireShot’s release notes describe minimal handling of fixed and sticky elements to capture what is shown. |
| A particular region, including content beyond the visible area | Capture Selection | FireShot’s Firefox listing describes selecting off-screen regions with auto-scrolling. A separate scroll panel may still behave differently by site. |
| The entire document from top to bottom | Full-page capture | Captures beyond the viewport when supported by the page layout; nested scrolling areas can be a complication. |
| Only what is currently on screen | Visible-area capture | Captures the visible area rather than the full document. |
Capture what is currently visible with a sticky header
- Open the webpage in the browser where FireShot is installed.
- Scroll until the header and the content you want are visible together.
- Open FireShot’s capture controls and choose Capture Selection.
- Select the visible region to capture. If the desired region extends off-screen, use the selection workflow’s auto-scrolling where available.
- Save or export the result in the format you need.
FireShot’s release history describes Capture Selection as providing “a minimum handling of fixed and sticky elements” to capture what is shown. That is not a promise that the header will be hidden, removed, or repositioned; it is the mode to try when preserving the current view is the goal.
Capture a full page or a separately scrolling panel
For the whole document
Choose FireShot’s full-page capture when you need content below the current viewport. A fixed header may be part of the layout while the document scrolls, and the result depends on how the site implements its page and scrolling behavior.
For a nested scroll area
Some pages contain a panel that scrolls independently inside the main document. If the material you need is in that panel, try selecting the panel region rather than treating it as ordinary page scrolling. FireShot’s Firefox listing describes selection with auto-scrolling for off-screen regions, but that feature should not be taken as a guarantee for every nested-scroll layout.
When full-page capture stops at the initial viewport
A fixed header and an independently scrolling element can interfere with a full-page capture. In one FireShot support report dated October 9, 2025, a user described a fixed header above a scrolling non-iframe element and a capture that stopped at the initially visible content. The report concerned Chrome 129.0.6668.100 (64-bit), FireShot 2.1.2, and Windows 10; it is a single reported configuration, not a measure of how often the problem occurs.
- Check whether the page itself scrolls, or whether the content is inside a separate scrollable panel.
- If you only need the current view, switch to Capture Selection rather than expecting full-page capture to correct the layout.
- If the content is in a panel, try selecting that region and use auto-scrolling if available.
- If the issue persists, report it through the FireShot support forum. Include your browser and FireShot versions, operating system, whether the content is an iframe or a separate scroll container, and a reproducible public example if it is safe to share.
Choose an export format
FireShot describes export to PDF, PNG, GIF, JPEG, and BMP, as well as editing and annotation features. Choose the format based on how you will use the capture; the format itself does not change how the sticky header is captured.
Or skip the browser setup
For a capture you can request by URL instead of configuring a browser workflow, ScreenshotNeo provides a screenshot API and MCP server. A cURL request for a webpage looks like this:
