Sign in to the website in your browser, open the page you’re allowed to view, then use FireShot’s full-page or entire-page capture command. FireShot captures what is rendered in your browser session; it does not bypass a login or retrieve information hidden behind access controls.

Capture a logged-in page with FireShot

  1. Sign in normally. Open the site in your browser, authenticate through its usual login flow, and navigate to the page you want to capture.
  2. Wait for the page content to load. This is especially useful when the page fills in content after the initial load. FireShot does not guarantee that every delayed or interactive element will appear in a capture.
  3. Open FireShot. Use its browser toolbar button, the browser’s main menu, or the page context menu, depending on your installed version and toolbar layout.
  4. Choose the right capture scope. Select Capture entire Page or the equivalent full-page command to include content below the current viewport. Choose visible-area capture for only what is currently on screen, or selected-area capture for a specific region.
  5. Review and save the result. Save it in an available image or PDF format. Exact formats and editing options vary by browser listing, version, and edition.

FireShot’s publisher manual describes entire-page capture as including content outside the current view, and distinguishes it from visible-area and selected-area capture. Its interface labels may differ from the manual because the PDF carries 2016 copyright text. FireShot Pro manual.

What to expect from a page behind a login

FireShot captures the page displayed in your authenticated browser session. It is not a way to get around a sign-in screen, permission check, or other access control. If the target page is not visible to your signed-in account, first confirm access through the website itself.

Full-page capture is meant to include content below the viewport, but no supplied FireShot documentation guarantees perfect results on every site. Content inside a separate scrollable panel may not behave like the main page; try selecting that region if your installed version supports it. Pages that update while being captured may also need more time to finish loading.

Check your FireShot version and output options

Browser-store listings can describe different releases and features, so check the listing for the browser you use and the version installed on your device. The Chrome Web Store listing observed for this article identifies FireShot 2.1.4.18, updated 2026-05-24, and describes whole-page, visible-part, and selection capture with PDF, PNG, or JPEG output. Its upgrade description mentions additional capabilities, including scrollable-area capture and editing. Chrome Web Store listing.

The Firefox Add-ons listing observed here displays version 1.12.18, updated 2023-06-05, and notes that FireShot v2 was being rolled out to AMO while a newer package was available through the publisher’s site. That is a different distribution and version snapshot, not evidence that the Firefox and Chrome packages are identical. Check the listing and installed version relevant to your browser. Protect sensitive account information

A screenshot can contain account details, personal information, or confidential work material. Save it somewhere appropriate, and redact sensitive details before sharing it. The Firefox Add-ons listing says screenshots are stored locally and do not leave the computer, and that FireShot can work offline; it also lists the permission “Access your data for all websites.” The Chrome Web Store listing says the developer disclosed it will not collect or use user data. These are disclosures by the publisher or store, not an independent security audit. Review the permissions and applicable privacy policy for the version you install.

Troubleshoot an incomplete or failed capture

  • The screenshot shows a login page: Confirm that you are signed in to the intended account and that the target page is visibly open in the browser before capturing.
  • Content below the fold is missing: Check that you chose entire-page/full-page capture rather than visible-area capture. Wait for delayed content to appear, then try again.
  • Part of a panel is missing: Determine whether the content is inside its own scrollable region. If supported in your installed version, try capturing that region as a selection or with a scrollable-area option.
  • The page changes or loads incompletely: Allow the page to finish rendering before repeating the capture. Results can depend on how the site loads and lays out content.
  • Full-page capture still fails: A FireShot support search result records one user report involving a password-protected page and a failed full-page capture. That individual report does not establish a general limitation, cause, or fix.
  • You need another browser-based option: Firefox Developer Tools documents a built-in full-page screenshot for the current page. Enable the screenshot icon in Developer Tools settings before using it, or use the Web Console command :screenshot --fullpage; Mozilla says this includes portions outside the window bounds and saves a PNG by default.
