To capture a webpage with FireShot and save it as an image, open the page, choose FireShot’s Capture entire Page and… option, then save the result in an image format available in your installed version. Use the entire-page option for content below the visible browser area; choose visible-area or selected-area capture when you need less.
Capture and save a full webpage with FireShot
- Open the webpage in a browser with FireShot installed. If its button is not visible, pin or reveal the extension in the browser toolbar; FireShot’s onboarding page describes pinning it.
- Start FireShot. Click its toolbar button, use the page’s right-click menu, or try Ctrl + Shift + S as shown on the current onboarding page. The shortcut and menu labels may vary by browser or version. FireShot’s usage guide also describes the toolbar arrow, main menu, and context menu.
- Choose the full-page action. Select Capture entire Page and… or its equivalent, such as Capture entire page. FireShot captures page content beyond the current viewport.
- Save the result as an image. In the captured-result editor, choose Save or the save/export action. Select an image format offered by your installed version, then choose the prompted or configured destination folder and save.
Choose the right capture area
- Entire page: Captures content below the browser’s visible area as well as what is currently on screen.
- Visible area: Captures only the current viewport. Choose this when the screenshot should show just the portion currently visible.
- Selected area: Lets you select a particular region of the page.
- Browser window: FireShot documents this as a separate option that captures the browser window and its contents. It is not the same as capturing the full length of a webpage.
Image formats and version differences
PNG and JPEG are named in FireShot’s current Chrome Web Store listing and onboarding page. The listing also describes GIF and BMP among Pro save formats; FireShot’s older Pro usage guide lists PNG, GIF, JPEG, BMP, and PDF, and describes adjusting JPEG compression quality. These references do not establish that every format is available in every current browser, version, or tier. Check the save dialog in your installed extension for the formats you can use.
What to check if capture or saving does not work
- FireShot is missing from the toolbar: Pin or reveal it using your browser’s extension controls, then start it from the toolbar.
- The shortcut does nothing: Use the toolbar button or right-click menu instead. The shortcut on the onboarding page may not apply to every browser or version.
- The image cuts off below the visible area: Confirm that you selected the entire-page action rather than visible-area capture.
- The desired file type is absent: The formats listed online vary by version and tier. Use a format present in your save dialog, or check the installed extension’s available features.
- The result includes browser controls: Choose a page capture option rather than the separate browser-window capture.
Local processing and optional Pro features
FireShot says, “All captures are processed locally in your browser.” This is the vendor’s statement about its processing, not an independent security audit. Its official materials also describe optional Pro features such as editing and annotation, batch and all-tab capture, and scrolling-region capture. Availability can depend on the current version or tier, so check the extension you have installed. See FireShot’s official homepage for its product information.
