A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11You can capture a public web page without signing into a screenshot service: use Firefox’s built-in screenshot control for a one-off image, or automate the capture with Playwright when you need a repeatable file. Choose a viewport shot to show the first impression or a full-page shot to include below-the-fold content. Before adding someone else’s page to a proposal, check its terms or ask permission; public visibility alone does not establish reuse permission.
Choose the right capture method
| Method | Best for | Capture and output |
|---|---|---|
| Firefox screenshot control | A one-off capture without setting up code | Use the browser’s screenshot interface; Mozilla says the saved image goes to the browser’s Downloads directory. Mozilla Firefox screenshot documentation |
| Playwright | Repeatable captures or a scripted workflow | Navigate to the page and save to a specified path; options include full-page capture, clip area, and image format. Playwright screenshot guide |
Capture a page manually in Firefox
- Open the public page in Firefox without entering account credentials. If you need to show what an unauthenticated visitor sees, do not reuse a browser session that has already signed in.
- Open Firefox’s screenshot control and choose the full-page option if the proposal needs content below the fold. Choose a visible-area capture when the point is the page’s first impression at the current screen size. See Mozilla’s Firefox screenshot instructions for the documented interface.
- Save the capture from the screenshot interface. Mozilla documents that the image is saved to the browser’s Downloads directory.
- Open the saved image and check that it shows the intended page and useful content, without overlays or irrelevant material. Crop only if that makes the proposal clearer, and identify the page and capture date when context might otherwise be ambiguous.
Automate the capture with Playwright
Playwright’s documented workflow is to launch a browser, create a context and page, navigate to a URL, then call the page screenshot method with a file path. The following JavaScript is the minimal capture pattern shown in its screenshot guide:
await page.goto('https://example.com');
await page.screenshot({ path: 'screenshot.png', fullPage: true });
This snippet assumes you already have a Playwright page object. In a proposal workflow intended to show the unauthenticated visitor experience, create a fresh browser context and do not load authentication state into it. That is a practical precaution, not a guarantee that every site will grant access without authentication.
The fullPage option captures the full scrollable page rather than only the current viewport, as described in the Playwright screenshot guide. The Page API documents screenshot options including a path, selected clip, and output format; check the current API reference for the options supported by your installed Playwright version.

Decide between a viewport, full page, or element
- Viewport: captures what fits in the browser’s visible page. Use it when the proposal needs to show the screen-sized first impression or a specific layout at a chosen viewport.
- Full page: captures the scrollable page beyond the current viewport. Playwright describes it as a full scrollable page captured “as if you had a very tall screen.” Use it when lower-page content matters. Playwright documentation
- Clip or element: capture a selected area or target component when the proposal is about one part of the page rather than the page as a whole. Playwright documents clip and element-oriented screenshot options; consult the applicable guide for your language and version. Playwright screenshot guide
Review the image before putting it in the proposal
- Open the saved file at the size at which the client will see it; check that text and important details remain legible.
- Confirm the correct URL, page state, and capture scope. A screenshot is a record of one visual state, not proof of how the page behaves in every situation.
- Look for unrelated personal information, account details, browser interface, consent notices, or other overlays that distract from the point you are making.
- When the page belongs to someone else, check the owner’s terms or request permission if needed. The cited browser and automation documentation explains capture mechanics, not whether reuse in a particular proposal is permitted.

ScreenshotNeo takes a screenshot or PDF with one GET request. For example, this cURL request saves a WebP capture of a public URL:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server lets AI agents use take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
