If you need a webpage rendered directly as a PDF, use a URL-to-PDF service instead; that is a different workflow.
What URL2PNG can—and cannot—output
URL2PNG’s v6 quickstart shows a request to a /png/ endpoint and examples that save the response as a PNG. The reviewed documentation does not describe a PDF output setting. URL2PNG’s quickstart describes fullpage=true as an attempt to capture the entire document canvas, not as a guarantee that every page will fit cleanly.
That distinction matters: converting a screenshot image to PDF places the image on a PDF page; it does not reflow webpage text into printable pages. If you require a paginated document rather than a PDF containing a screenshot, choose a service that renders a URL directly to PDF.
Capture and convert a URL2PNG screenshot
1. Check access and prepare credentials
URL2PNG’s signup page currently says signup is restricted and asks visitors to request a signup code. Check the signup page before building an integration. The v6 quickstart uses an API key and a token generated from the full query string plus the secret. Follow its signing instructions exactly; keep the secret on a trusted server, never in browser-side JavaScript or a public app bundle.

2. Choose capture dimensions and page coverage
The quickstart documents viewport-only capture by default. Set the viewport to the dimensions you need; the documented default is 1480×1037 and the stated maximum is 5000×5000. Use fullpage=true to ask URL2PNG to attempt a whole-document capture. For pages with content that appears late, delay waits a fixed number of seconds, while say_cheese waits for a designated page element. Inspect the returned PNG for missing content, clipping, or unreadable text before conversion.
3. Request the PNG and save it
Build the signed v6 request according to URL2PNG’s documented examples, including the encoded target URL and selected capture options. Save the response as a PNG file; the precise request and signing code depend on the language and authentication example you choose from the official quickstart. Do not treat a successful PNG response as a PDF export.

4. Convert the image to PDF
Open the saved PNG in an image editor or use an image-to-PDF utility available in your environment, then export or print it to PDF. Choose page size, orientation, margins, and scaling in that conversion tool. These settings belong to the converter, not URL2PNG. Open the finished PDF and check that the image is legible and that no important area was cropped or scaled too small.
Capture options that affect the result

For PDF readability, choose dimensions based on the content rather than blindly maximizing them. A very long full-page image can become difficult to read when fitted onto a single PDF page. If the target is a long article or report, a direct PDF renderer may produce more usable page breaks.

Choose between image-to-PDF and direct URL-to-PDF

The cited product documentation establishes these different output paths, but it does not provide a like-for-like independent comparison of rendering quality, pricing, or usage limits. URL2PNG’s plans page describes month-to-month SaaS plans and says each fresh screenshot generated at a user’s request counts as a render; check the live page for current commercial terms. Cloudinary also documents a URL2PNG add-on for screenshot images, requiring a Cloudinary account and add-on registration; it is not documented as a PDF export. Details are in Cloudinary’s URL2PNG add-on documentation.
Troubleshooting
- The response is an image, not a PDF: That is the documented URL2PNG output. Save the PNG and convert it separately, or use a distinct direct URL-to-PDF service.
- The capture stops at the visible viewport: Set
fullpage=trueand review the result. The option attempts full-document capture but does not promise that every site will render as one clean image. - Images or dynamic content are missing: Use an appropriate
delayor wait for a page element withsay_cheese, then capture again and inspect the PNG. - The request fails authentication: Recheck the API key and regenerate the token from the complete query string and secret as specified in the v6 quickstart. Ensure all request parameters and the target URL are encoded as documented.
- The capture is stale: Use
uniqueto request a fresh screenshot rather than relying on a cached result. - You cannot create an account: The official signup page currently says access is restricted and asks users to request a code. Confirm availability before committing to this integration.
